Election Spotlights
The largest PTO battle of the day was over Russia, a nation that had been conquered by EDEN and had one region freed after Congress was set, meaning the nation has open citizenship. Both Phoenix and EDEN moved in hundreds of players to try take over the political system of the once-powerful Phoenix nation. The end result came down to a mere 40 votes with Phoenix-backed mogaba triumphing over EDEN-backed Alpho, 1148-1108. The attempted PTO of Portugal by EDEN failed as well, with Phoenix-backed Malagueta steaming past EDEN-backed Dr. Tango in the polls, 259-99 votes.

Despite suffering massive military defeats over the past few weeks, Phoenix managed to maintain enough political force to survive these two initial PTO attempts. However, the political battle will not be over for another twenty days as the alliances race for control of the congresses in these nations before open citizenship is closed.

In the new nations, most elections were again a battleground between the alliances. In Belarus, Polish Nina Ayu secured 151 votes against main opponents former Russian Green4x and former Romanian Svastik, with 131 and 130 votes respectively. In Cyprus, Greek-backed Iaswn defeated Turk-backed Steoks, 329-249. Phoenix-heavyweight Armon demolished world-wide perennial presidential campaigner Pizza the Hut 208-69 votes, destroying the great liberator's attempts to establish a conservative paradise in Europe. The Kiwis of New Zealand, including two groups (one from more EDEN-aligned nations and one from mostly Serbia) formerly working in opposition, all banded together behind Calbe, handing him the presidency over an insurgent Gaius Julius Caesar00, 352-82 votes. Taiwan elected BillWilson over main challenger boilingsea, 368-83 votes. And, last but not least, the Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) saw an overwhelming vote for (appropriately named) United Macedonia, trouncing Bulgarian opponent Bloody_sword 1032-65 votes.

In the United States, the epic team of Alexander "Kommie Squirrel" Hamilton and Gulden "Most Interesting Man in the World" Draak have entered the White House, facing no serious opposition. The British have given jamesw a third term in office, and retrodevil had taken the top spot in Croatia. Australia's PTO problems have seemingly ended with Wally Wilson taking the presidency in a three way race, 135-131-83 votes.

Regarding the Recent Military Changes

That about sums it up.
