Light the match and place it upright in the lemon wedge. Place this in the centre of the plate and cover it by glass. Once the oxygen inside the glass is burnt out, a vaccuum is created which sucks the water into the glass from the plate.

A can do a job in 9 days... He feels it is too slow.. So asks his friend B to join.. B can do the same job in 7 days... Yet they feel its slow.. So they go and ask their other common friend C... What kind of an efficiency should C have, to complete the job in 3 days.. (Hint: C should be able to complete the same job in x days for the total work output of A,B and C to complete the job in 3 days together)

it is unlikely that a vacuum is created by consumption of oxygen.
Oxygen comprises about 17 percent of "air" and a flame will burn in a very oxygen poor atmosphere. More likely, the flame is put out by products of combustion which displace oxygen: Carbon dioxide (we use it in extinguishers to put out fires).
The likely cause of vacuum is that the flame heats surrounding air, causing vortices and air which flows out of the container as it is placed over the flame.
With less air in the container, after cooling the pressure is greater outside than inside the container - hence a relative "vacuum" - liquid is pushed into the container by the greater outside air pressure.
