Cutting Taxes Will Piss You Off?!?!?
HeadmistressTalia
As you know, we enacted temporary tax increases last month to deal with the theft of our Federal Reserve. Now there are some in congress who are unwilling to drop taxes, but instead want to enact a new comprehensive tax plan.
When I tried to push for lowering our taxes BEFORE trying to set up a "new" tax plan I got this:
"Talia, we're not going to waste a month or more changing taxes for the sake of "keeping a promise." I'm pretty sure doing that would actually piss off the majority of our citizens."
Is this true? Will lowering your taxes PISS YOU OFF? Or will Congress failing to live up to its promises piss you off?
If you think Congress needs to keep its promises, vote this up. If you don't give a d@mn then please ignore this,.

Voted. Can't agree more. Here is my take on what's going on. http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/the-economic-council-tax-plan-735931/1/20
USA seems to have a huge inflation going on so the taxes should stay for a while until it evens out.
But to answer your question: No, they shouldn't lie to people, if something have changed since that promise they should inform us civilians about it.
"USA seems to have a huge inflation going on". What makes you think that?
Congress made a promise to drop taxes back to the prior level once a certain dollar and gold amount were present in the treasury. I believe we should keep that promise made to the people when the temporary tax increase was implimented.
I know if they pass their 25% income tax Ill be leaving the country until it drops back down. Im already talking with Canada who's setting up a work program for US workers who dont want to get ripper off by their governemnt.
"All changes outlined in this Order will be reduced to their previous levels once one of the following conditions are met:
1. Admins return the stolen / misplaced funds
2. Monetary funds reach or exceed 1,500 GOLD and at least 80,000 USD."
The exact text from the Legislative order...Shall we keep the promise to wait for 1,500 Gold before changing taxes as well?
I have no problems waiting until we reach 1500 gold, and I've stated that before.
BUT
I think we should then go back to the original tax rates, no some new "fix everything" plan that's being discussed now. If we want to do that LATER, then fine. But NOW we have an obligation to the people.
Congress can make amendments to things right? Ok, 'nuff said.
Im sorry Talia but this is growing out of control. Congress your greedy selves are taking advantage of the situation at hand. Our financial issues are not as severe as they were before.
To anyone reading this I encourage you to find out about your Congressman or woman *winks at Talia* and find out about their activities and determine if they are what you want. Your Congressman/woman is elected to REPRESENT YOU and YOUR interests. It is apparent some people ran on the basis of their own goals and wants. Determine if your Congressman/Woman wants lower taxes or higher and determine which one YOU want and vote for that person. I would NOT vote for NoneSuch because he displays a serious lack of understanding of the people, can't be a honest and reliable person, and because he does not operate within my interests.
A serious lack of understanding aye? Do you really think people want a broken economy for a month because of some stupid tax rates?
But will it be a broken economy?
I have said this for a long time, tax the foreign companies that are running American companies out of business not the American companies and workers. Theoretically the American companies should be able to compete however most of the new American companies are handicapped since they have to pay MORE taxes then the foreign companies who tend to be well established.
Is this new "Fix Everything" plan the one that was mentioned in Gilroy's latest article?
Keep on 'em, Talia.
Yes, Gilroy's article lays out the new tax plan being laid before congress.

NS your lack of understanding is that people WILL be angry because your just assuming their reactions and what your assuming makes no sense. Come on "Talia, we're not going to waste a month or more changing taxes for the sake of "keeping a promise." I'm pretty sure doing that would actually piss off the majority of our citizens." Makes no sense. We will be made for you keeping a promise. Now...that makes no sense at all.
Talia, you are one of the few sensible people left in Congress. I applaud all you do in representing the interests of the common American who does A. not want all their money going to the government and B. Does not want their tax dollars spent thoughtlessly. Keep fighting the good fight.
When I was in Congress one thing became painfully clear, when it comes to taxes there are few Congressmen or Congresswomen who know what they're talking about. There are even less who are willing to speak out against stupid tax policies.
Talia
Tell all your friends to vote this up! With enough outrage congress will respond!
Despite only two no votes, the attempt to ban your posts in congress failed due to this article:
http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/congress-to-become-even-more-insular-735016/1/20
So it CAN be done!
To add to what neil said....There are just a few who come up with all this B.S. tax polacy. Whay are they still running our country?
The Economic Council's "plan" for a regressive, punitive 25% income tax rate is the biggest pile of absurd I have ever seen in one place.
Just did a double take on the article title. I never said anything along the lines of not "cutting taxes." I'm just against us wasting our limited proposals to propose taxes we would change the very next day.
@Armandez: I don't know what's worse, my supposed lack of understanding or your apparent lack of touch with reality.

Sorry talia, but here are my thoughts on this garbage.
You've got to be kidding me. Why would lowering taxes piss us off? I'm not heavily affected by the taxes myself, but I can imagine the stress is being felt elsewhere in the country. This is ridiculous.
voted, I don't want higher taxes
I just bought a couple weapons, Q1, in anticipation of our next helping out of a small democracy.
Meanwhile, the price of food is going up on its own, and I don't see buying a house anytime soon.
I guess it's okay, I'm a noob, and maybe you don't need to retain people like me.
But, Talia, any help you can give us on income taxes and VAT buying food makes it easier to show up every day. And to recommend eRepublik, USA to RW friends.
Good luck. You represent the working/fighting part of eUSA!
"Talia, we're not going to waste a month or more changing taxes for the sake of "keeping a promise." I'm pretty sure doing that would actually piss off the majority of our citizens."
What? Doing what we voted for you to do would piss us off? 25% income tax is utterly incomprehensible. As others have said, congress people are supposed to be representing the people of eUSA, and we certainly do not want to be giving a quarter of our wages to the government, nor do the companies want to give a quarter of their profits to the government. I'm pretty sure passing this tax plan would "piss us off"
I'm not for the 25% income tax. Thanks Talia for skewing the facts. And as a matter of fact, I'm the only one fighting the 25% income tax at this point. Instead of spreading bad propaganda Talia, how about you actually do something worth being voted in for.
I have taken a look at Talia's contributions, and I must say, she's a tad out of line here. And usually when people are out of line, they try to spin the attention off on to another person, in this case NS. I think the people of Montana should reconsider their representative. We need less of these coma inducing articles and more people working towards bettering this country, not themselves.
Silly me, I though following through on our promises WAS good for the country!
Not if the promise is taking a massive step back.
I have another question how about those bonds we gave to the government during that crisis when do we get that money back??
I don't how you got the "I'm the only one fighting the 25% income tax at this point", Nonesuch. You may not like what I post on the forums but I did write an article bashing the plan and still posting my "insightful" comments on the forums.
They should be giving back bond money soon
The economy's as strong as ever. Our government needs money to fight wars.
@Gilroy, you know that time has passes since I wrote that comment right?
Talia your painting of the entire congress as evil and all supporting the bill are horrid. Though I understand what you're saying, your job of throwing mud on other people to put yourself on a pedestal of "wonderfulness" is sickening. Mud throwing does not get congress anywhere.
cutting taxes will not piss me off.
raising taxes to 25% income WILL piss me off. and maybe piss me off enough to move.
Noobs will not be able to make it at that tax level.
The day it passes, I start shopping for a new eCounty to work in/fight for. Canada? UK? Ireland?
Talia - Good on ya. I wish I could vote twice.
You know what stimulates the economy? Being able to afford goods with your wages.
If the lowering of taxes will screw up the economy then I am opposed, and additionally if it will enable foreign businesses to compete with the domestics, then i am equally opposed, not voted because I am not too sure.
congress is alway full of feces
Wont piss me off.
Taxes = Bad!
rabble rabble rabble
It's good to know politicians are no different in the eWorld than they are in RL. Everything is an emergency... everything is temprorary... everything is in "The Peoples" best interests... yeah... right...
To the People's Democratic Republican Congress... one five-day plan at a time, OK?
I agree with you Headmistress. I believe we do need higher taxes in the long run to pull some of the extra money out of the system, but congress should also respect the initial legislation and reduce taxes once the aforementioned reserves are collected until such time as there is a fully understood tax plan proposed.
Voted! I don't know about you, but my companies cannot cope with the taxes anymore. Something must be done!
