CSD Presidential Nomination Debate

Day 678, 18:48 Published in Canada Canada by Chamrajnagar

[19:59] [&Nosyt] Welcome to the CSD debate! This debate is to help determine who the CSD will support in their run for president.
[20:00] [&Nosyt] The candidates are Chamrajnagar, Trenton Rendell, and GaiusJuliusCaesar00.
[20:00] [&Nosyt] I shall ask a question, and then each candidate shall respond
[20:00] [&Nosyt] If you have any questions you would like to see asked, please PM me
[20:01] [&Nosyt] The first question shall be answered by Trenton
[20:01] [&Nosyt] First Question: Is there such a thing as social democracy in the New World? What makes the CSD different from other parties?

[20:03] [~Trentonius] Ofcourse there is such a thing as social democracy in the new world if there wasnt the CSD wouldnt exist, aside from our Ideology what makes us truly different from anyother party in canada are the members.
[20:04] [~Trentonius] The CSD has such a creative and young membership that will help prepel eCanada in great heights.
[20:04] [~Trentonius] Without our members who devote alot of time and effort we wouldnt be different the the DAL or CPP
[20:04] [~Trentonius] end.

[20:05] [&Nosyt] Thank you. Caesar, you may now provide your answer

[20:06] [@Caesar] The New World is much different from eRepublik and a social democracy works in a different way. Nonetheless, it can work on eRepublik. The reason is simple: industry. The government can run businesses for a small profit and provide higher wages for the benefit of Canada instead of private industry.
[20:07] [@Caesar] We already do, and I believe in expanding it.
[20:07] [@Caesar] How is the CSD different?
[20:08] [@Caesar] We believe in democracy. I have led the charge for cabinet to be elected. I have fought those who abuse congressional procedure. I fight for the rule of the people. We also do not engage in personal attacks and we are required to engage in civility as much as possible.
[20:08] [@Caesar] I believe in ruling on behalf of those who elect us
[20:08] [@Caesar] end
[20:09] [@Caesar] 🙂

[20:09] [&Nosyt] thank you caesar
[20:09] [&Nosyt] you're turn chamrajnagar 😉

[20:10] [+Chamrajnagar] Indeed there is social democracy. In fact this seems to be the predominant political structure in the New World. Almost every country in the New World has a mixed economy of private and public companies. The new citizens fee is a form of social welfare, as well as the new MWOC program.
[20:12] [+Chamrajnagar] As for how the CSD is different than other political parties, I found the reason I joined was their mandate of transparency and involvement. Indeed being the first party in Canada with fully transparent public forums was a huge demonstration of our commitment.
[20:13] [+Chamrajnagar] As well, all of the active members help to demonstrate to everyone else exactly what the CSD is all about.
[20:13] [+Chamrajnagar] end

[20:14] [&Nosyt] thank you. For the next question, we'll start with Caesar
[20:14] [&Nosyt] Caesar, What are you plans for the eCanadian economy? What do you feel needs changing?

[20:19] [@Caesar] As I have stated in the past, I believe the Ministry of Industries should be a strong component of the eCanadian economy. We should not purchase foreign hospitals and defense systems when we have the tools necessary to build them right here in Canada. We should engage in immigration programs for industries that lack sufficient manpower. Some companies are ski
[20:19] [@Caesar] laws and morality by poaching employees from other companies in the construction industry due in my belief to our encouragement of the land and manufacturing industries. With the impending close of the wars, manufacturing will take a serious hit and we should find ways to alleviate this issue such as stockpiling weapons etc.
[20:19] [@Caesar] *skirting*
[20:19] [@Caesar] When the market conditions are favourable, we should consider reopening our defense contractor and entrench ourselves with Q5 systems.
[20:20] [@Caesar] end

[20:20] [&Nosyt] Thank you, you may post your responce now Cham

[20:21] [+Chamrajnagar] I'm glad this question was asked, as this is a cornerstone to my campaign. Feel free to cut me off if my response takes too long.
[20:24] [+Chamrajnagar] First I would task the Congressional Finance Committee to do an in-depth study on every industry including short-term price tendencies, wage costs etc. and use these figures to accurately determine the income tax levels that are appropriate for each industry. Next is a foreign market study to determine where all our main competitors lie, and how best to promote Canadian business.
[20:27] [+Chamrajnagar] As Caesar as pointed out, and rightly so, the Ministry of Industries is a key component to the success of our economy post-war, by soaking up a large majority of our manu sector workers, and employing many construction workers to build hospitals and defense systems. It is also a good way to price-fix certain markets, under extreme circumstances of course. I would also be looking to expand this Ministry to help stockpile supplies as we saw was badly needed at the beginning of this war. We do not want to be c
[2😇1] [+Chamrajnagar] My final key point to make is about starting up the Bank of Canada once more. I believe having a separate entity that can manage loans and financing, as well as investments of Canadians, that is backed with the support of the government of eCanada can help ensure we have a stable and prosperous economy for many months and years to come. The Bank of Canada will also be instrumental in regulating the Money Market and the value of the CAD, to prevent economic attacks like the French did near the fall of Ontari
[2😇1] [+Chamrajnagar] o.
[2😇1] [+Chamrajnagar] end

[2😇1] [&Nosyt] Thanks 🙂 Trent, your turn

[2😇5] [~Trentonius] Canada is at war so our markets will swing up and down. Thats why I believe that my Minister of Finance as well as my Minister of Industry should always be on their toes. So we can stablize the markets ASAP. Also I will discuss with CSIS possible 'Trap Companies' set up by PEACE that employ and take advantage of our workers.
[2😇5] [~Trentonius] Once we find these 'Trap Companies' I will let the public know ASAP. I will also promote Canadian businesses as well as making sure that congress understand how our markets work and don't propse silly tax changes that could harm eCanada.
[2😇5] [~Trentonius] end.

[2😇6] [&Nosyt] Thanks, next question will begin with Chamrajnagar.
[2😇6] [&Nosyt] Cham: Without a doubt, you three have begun planning your proposed cabinets. Which 3 people do you value the most on your cabinet?

[2😇9] [+Chamrajnagar] I can't say that I value any 3 people over the rest of my cabinet. I have hand-picked my cabinet based on who I feel would do the best job in their respective areas. However, saying that, TP has been instrumental in helping me with this campaign, finding ministers and supporting my run, Jacobi has done wonders for his insight and initial suggestion I run for PM, and finally, the person I might value most, only because I thought I might need to give up this presidential run had I not found him...Domino_Gray.
[2😇9] [+Chamrajnagar] end

[2😇9] [&Nosyt] Thank you, Caser may answer now
[2😇9] [&Nosyt] *Caesar

[2😇9] [@Caesar] 😉
[20:46] [@Caesar] It’s difficult to say these three people will be the most important in my administration because is it a team and every member will have its part. That being said, the goal of my administration will be to unify Canada; to end partisan strife and get to work on leading Canada into the future.
[20:46] [@Caesar] To answer the question, I may lead with Jacobi who is our current President. He has led Canada for four terms and has gained enormous experience with game mechanics and the economy and his expertise and advice will be integral. I believe he has his eye on the job of MofFA. Nonetheless, the offer has not been made and I can make no guarantee that he accepts.
[20:47] [@Caesar] The second man who will be integral is Tyler F Durden. He leads a party with opposed views to ours and this is good for Canada. A bi-partisan administration will finally be able to accomplish the tasks which have been waiting to be done since the beginning of the war. He will be our go-to man for the other side of the aisle.
[20:47] [@Caesar] Third, is Moffington – Minister of National Revenue. Under his guidance, the national gold reserves has increased by a substantial margin and I don’t think we can run Canada without him. He is an active member of eCanada and I won’t allow him to leave the administration if at all possible.
[20:47] [@Caesar] I will not allow the experience of the previous administration's four terms to go to waste, but nonetheless I will be the man to lead Canada into the future
[20:47] [@Caesar] end

[20:48] [&Nosyt] Thank you, Trenton, you may answer now

[20:48] [~Trentonius] My Minister of Communication TaiwanPanda he has been successfull in both being Minister of Staff as well as having a successfull newspaper. I believe that this as well as his popularity will intrest Canadians to start reading the news more often.
[20:48] [~Trentonius] My Minister of Foreign Affairs Jacobi: Prime Minister Jacobi has shown tremendous success with establishing our foreign affairs I believe that he is the obvious choice. Like butter on toast implying that Jacobi is the butter and PEACE is the toast.
[20:48] [~Trentonius] And My Minister of Domestic Affairs Nosyt: A new position that will see that the well being of eCanada is kept adn our Morale is high, I handpicked this position for Nosyt he is crazy nice and gracious and Im lucky to have him in my party as well as a friend
[20:49] [~Trentonius] Though it was a tough choice all members of my cabinet are well deserving of the job and I owe them a hell out a lot of thanks (And a Beer on me!)
[20:49] [~Trentonius] end.

[20:49] [&Nosyt] Thank you Trenton 😃 Cham can answer this nect question first
[20:49] [&Nosyt] Do you believe in invading other countries at this time?

[20:50] [+Chamrajnagar] I wholeheartedly believe in invading other countries, and even holding their original territory for an indefinite period of time. However, I only believe in this tactic because the game mechanics forces it as a strategy. I would only do this for defensive strategic purposes, for example if it was in the Brolliance's best interest to hold Alaska (though I doubt it is), I would wholheartedly support it. In terms of hostile invasion, I do not support Canada initiating an attack that threatens another country's
[20:50] [+Chamrajnagar] home soil. I will support EDEN initiatives, but will likely vote against any invasion plans, unless they are well warranted.
[20:50] [+Chamrajnagar] end

[20:51] [&Nosyt] Thanks, Trenton, you may now answer

[20:52] [~Trentonius] I do not eCanada has never been and will never be an Imperilist country. We owe to our allies to return to us the territorries we have. Though that doesnt mean eCanada under my administration will not comply with EDEN orders. Under my administartion eCanada will never invade for its own personal agenda.
[20:53] [~Trentonius] Unless ofcourse its one of our home territories then by all means burn the SOB
[20:53] [~Trentonius] end.

[20:53] [&Nosyt] Thank you, Casar you may now answer the question.
[20:54] [&Nosyt] *Caesar (sorry, did it again 😛 )

[20:58] [@Caesar] Invading other nations is a selfish and short-sighted policy. The current war began when a former President attacked France, activating numerous MPP’s against us and getting kicked out of the country in short measure. We never closed the war.
[20:58] [@Caesar] Although game mechanics dictate that initiative is one of the most important tools of war, we have seen how a powerful coalition of nations was defeated despite the enormous odds. This gives a clear indication of the folly of foreign invasions.
[20:58] [@Caesar] That being said, if EDEN decides an invasion is necessary, I will support it if the cause does not give us the appearance of being an imperialist power. The vision of Canada that the world has must not be that of an imperialist and a blatant invasion will destroy all the capital we’ve built up.
[20:59] [@Caesar] end

[21:00] [&Nosyt] Thank you Caesar 😃 Next question will begin with Trent
[21:00] [&Nosyt] Trentonius: The actual war has shown us who were our real friends and enemies. Considering the events that occurred in the last months, what are your plans for the Canadian foreign diplomacy and the place of our country in the eWorld?

[21:03] [~Trentonius] With Prime Minster Jacobi as my MoFA I feel we will be able to tighten our bonds with EDEN and reach out to the neutral and smaller countries. Im a very nice guy who people seem to enjoy to be around. Though we must be cautious the eUK has shown us that a friend can easily become a enemy.
[21:03] [~Trentonius] We are a peacefull nation and under my administration I wish for the other countries to see that.
[21:04] [~Trentonius] end.

[21:04] [&Nosyt] Thank you, Chamrajnagar, you may procede with your answer 😉

[21:07] [+Chamrajnagar] As it is in real life, I look to place eCanada as the dominant "peacemonger" in the eWorld. As has been shown, even in Canada, the political landscape in a country can change from month-to-month. We must not destroy relations with our enemies, for they could next be our friends. Look how we defended against Sweden's invasion of Germany...and yet, it was they who DONATED a q5 hospital to Canada. What friendship! Likewise, our friends could well turn out to be our enemies. We used to be in the Mediterranean
[21:07] [+Chamrajnagar] Alliance with France, and look at the state of our relationship today. However, if we extend the olive branch to all, and show everyone how much Canada wants to work on our friendship, perhaps we can come away with many more friends than enemies.
[21:08] [+Chamrajnagar] I feel that by splitting my MoFA's portfolio, and creating a new portfolio specifically for our new EDEN brothers, I can give Derek Harland, the MoFA, more time to deal with improving our relations with countries we may not have always seen eye to eye with. And Jacobi, as my new Minister of EDEN Relations, can further cement the many great bonds he's made over the past 4 months...and bring EDEN and ourselves closer together.
[21:08] [+Chamrajnagar] end

[21:08] [&Nosyt] Thanks Cham, Caesar your turn

[21:08] [@Caesar] I have demonstrated in my work as Ambassador that I intend to use diplomacy first, and the gun second. I would like to target PEACE nations such as Argentina and break them away from the bonds that were forced upon them. We can do this with measures such as that I proposed in my Congressional campaign:
[21:09] [@Caesar] Quoting…. I will be putting forth a proposal to change the way the Ministry of Foreign Affairs operates. At present, Ambassadors representing Canadian interests are given no training, little direction, and generally operate as they wish. My proposal will change this: Ambassadors from this time forward, with Congressional approval, will be given the tools to s
[21:09] [@Caesar] the tools to succeed in their positions.
[21:09] [@Caesar] It will be a simple system. For each country, the Minister of Foreign Affairs will prepare a package for each countrynot represented. In it, will be a guide for the new Ambassador detailing what goals the current administration has for the given nation.
[21:10] [@Caesar] Included will also be a guide for the Ambassador which will list some simple rules for the representative to follow including etiquette and tactics and tips for success. It’s simple, but essential. /Quote
[21:10] [@Caesar] This new system will give each Ambassador the tools he needs to achieve my goals. I will work with them on a daily basis to achieve this. The current president has agreed with this proposal. I believe we should also try to find a diplomatic solution to our current conflict. Words cannot fix the pain we feel from the United Kingdom, but that does not mean a d
[21:10] [@Caesar] that does not mean a diplomatic solution is wholly made of words. 😉
[21:10] [@Caesar] end

[21:11] [&Nosyt] Thank you, the next question is "Currently, the eCanadian constitution is undergoing a rewrite. How important do you think matters involving constitutional affairs are, and what are your plans in this sector?"
[21:11] [&Nosyt] Chamrajnagar will be the first to answer

[21:16] [+Chamrajnagar] I think Constitutional matters are the most important matters discussed in Congress. The Constitution defines who we are as Canadians, and how we operate as the eCanadian Government. It is the foundation of how everything operates, and were the Constitution to claim someone else was President, yet eRepublik said I was, I would gladly hand over the reins. (Perhaps not TOO gladly)
[21:16] [+Chamrajnagar] Goran Thrax has thankfully decided to stay in his position as Minister of Justice, and help work on the Constitutional reforms. Nosyt, Eldorino, and Adasko set in motion a complete overhaul of the Constitution and I plan to make sure that their work continues.
[21:16] [+Chamrajnagar] end

[21:16] [&Nosyt] Thank you Cham, your turn to answer Trentonius

[21:18] [~Trentonius] This is a major deal not only are we rewriting the constitution we're rewriting how eCanadians live. Under my administration any proposal to rewrite the constitution will be read not once not twice but multiple times, We will analyse how this change will impact eCanadians.
[21:18] [~Trentonius] We will weigh the pros and cons, and if all things check and all the information is clear and makes sense only then will it shown to the public and if we get a general sense of 'Hey this is a good idea' then it will be written into our constitution. If not then it's back to the drawing board.
[21:18] [~Trentonius] end.

[21:18] [&Nosyt] Thank you, Caesar, you have the floor 😉
[21:21] [@Caesar] Constitutional affairs are without a doubt important. They are the foundation upon which rights and laws exist and I would never downplay that. They are, however, not the exclusive purview of the office of President and I will work with Congress and others to ensure that the constitution gives no unfair powers, and respects the rights of all, while also
[21:21] [@Caesar] protecting Canada from foreign influence.
[21:22] [@Caesar] I am in favour of an amendment which gives the right to Congress to restrict citizenship for those who demonstrate a clear risk to our security. To ensure that no citizen is falsely prosecuted, a vote of 66% is required to do so. Under my administration, I will fight any and all foreign influence in my Congress.
[21:22] [@Caesar] As always, my PM box is completely open and I work with citizens to ensure government works for you
[21:22] [@Caesar] end

[21:23] [&Nosyt] Thank you Caesar 😃 This will be the final question of the debate. Trentonius, your turn to answer 😉
[21:23] [&Nosyt] If you were not running for presidency, who would get your support and why?

[21:25] [~Trentonius] If I was not to run in this election my vote would go for Caesar he has proven to be a very smart and able individual. or Adasko because I owe him one 😛
[21:26] [~Trentonius] .end lol

[21:26] [&Nosyt] Thank you, chamrajnagar, your go

[21:28] [+Chamrajnagar] As a clarification, was this question meant to mean one of the other two debaters, or anyone running now, or simply a party?

[21:28] [&Nosyt] Anybody you know to be running 😉
[21:28] [&Nosyt] Or seeking to run 😛

[21:30] [+Chamrajnagar] I would whole-heartedly support whichever of the two candidates won the CSD nomination, and campaign earnestly to get them into office. I think the question itself is a bit personal, but if I had to choose a name I would say Caesar as well, as I have worked with him and know his abilities, whereas I haven't worked with Trent other than as having him as a PP.
[21:31] [+Chamrajnagar] end

[21:31] [&Nosyt] Thank you, and for the final answer of the night, it's your go Caesar

[21:32] [@Caesar] I have always been a loyal CSD member since I joined eRepublik. Since that time, many long months ago, I have never at any time belonged to any other party. Because of my longstanding devotion, I must say that my vote would go to Trent. He has stayed loyal to the party and I respect that.
[21:32] [@Caesar] I had him come on my CSD Radio episode to campaign for his election in fact.
[21:33] [@Caesar] end

[21:33] [&Nosyt] And that concludes the debate! I would like to thank the candidates for participating in the debate. I’d also like to thank the audience for coming to watch, and I’d also like to thank Derek Harland jfstpierre, Adasko, and Christian Doe for providing the candidates with a number of interesting questions.

[21:33] [@Caesar] thank you Derek Harland jfstpierre, Adasko, and Christian Doe

[21:34] [&Nosyt]
