CPM: Money-market

Day 664, 16:19 Published in Canada Canada by Addy Lawrence

Thanks so much for your feedback on my last two articles, much appreciated. My goal is to write a "CPM: Money-Market" column daily and a "CPM: Commodity, Product and Labour" column each week, on Sunday.

I don't have a goal or schedule for my editorial type releases, I'll continue to release those as I am inspired.

Again, thanks for the votes and subs, much appreciated.

International Market

There are less Cdn dollars being offered for gold on the market today versus yesterday. Offers totalled $17,168.37m down 242.81 or 1.4% from yesterday's $17,411.1.

On average, these offers are seeking 0.0299 gold per CA$1.00 which is down 1.0% from yesterday's 0.0302 gold.

The eCanadian government recently approved the issue of CA$30,000.00 so this is bring down the value of the eCanadian dollar on international markets. If you are holding Canadian, move to gold to hold value, it appears to be headed for a drop.

Local Market

The offers of gold totaled 66.35 and were down 11.86 or 15.2% over yesterday's 78.21.

The CA$ sought in return averaged $37.21, up $1.82 or 5.1% from yesterday's $35.39.

There is less gold available to holders of CA$ today than there was yesterday and the price is going up. With the recent issue of money by the Canadian government, there is proportionately more CA$ available than gold so this trend will continue until that money is absorbed by the economy. The cheapest offer for 1 gold was CA$36.82

Arbitrage

The implied rate on the local market is 0.0269 gold per CA$, calculated as 1G/CA$37.21. The international rate is 0.0299. The arbitrage, or spread between the two, is 0.0030.

Arbitrage represents the opportunity to make money via trading currencies. The opportunity exists if you can find another currency which trades with CA$ or gold, depending on what you are holding, between these two sums. The trick is to find it. If I find one, I'll publish it however they are tough to find and don't last long.
