In a rare good news development, eRep has introduced a country feed for Congress members and others in official roles. There are a few minor bugs to be ironed out such as the use of the term “Congressman” instead of “Congress member” but I’m sure that can be fixed in a year or three.
What the feed gives is the capacity for those in official roles to reach every fellow citizen of our country. While this has the potential for spam by rogues in official roles, it also has the benefit of allowing feedback, as every citizen can respond to a message in the country feed. Perhaps things like fighting priorities and other special communication will be enhanced to our mutual benefit.
The spam factor is ameliorated by the three hour interval allowed between posts. I discovered this when I attempted to advertise this article. Perhaps someone else can use the field to provide the link to this article!
It would be nice to have a special Congress feed or even a messaging facility available for all Congress members, the CP and official roles people. This is something that would help in country administration, rather than the current double-threads for internal Congress messages.
Another benefit will be for the media module in that Congress members can perhaps advertise their articles via the country feed and so get swifter news out to those we represent.
Let’s give it all a run and see how it works before we clamour too loudly for its removal!

I think it is a great addition. I'm looking forward to seeing how it changes the political mechanisms of the country as I agree it does have the benefit of allowing feedback, as every citizen can respond to a message in the country feed.
However, I also hope we can use it to communicate our political opinions in a respectful manner and cut down on the rest of unnecessary and often unsavoury chatter that was prevalent in the Congressional PMs and have already crept onto the country channel.

It did not take long to creep into the country channel but that is mainly from the usual suspects.
It won't change anything. People already have plenty of tools to make themselves heard.

It shouldn't say Congressman either, the correct term is Mongressman.
It should be Congress member. Any other term for Congress, as used by some these days, is simply puerile.
