Contests, Forums, Solar Temples and More!

Day 1,064, 16:47 Published in South Korea South Korea by Sirius Padfoot Black

Right now eSouth Korea is approaching a pivotal point in it's time line. I feel for the first time in months, people are actually starting to wake up and want something better. To take initiative and do something. And I've wanted nothing more than this moment.

But just because this time has come this doesn't mean all of our problems are fixed. We must use these opportunities as leverage for which it is just the beginning of propping Korea back up onto its feet.

First off, if you have no idea what opportunity I am talking about, Ill explain first. Grease, in conjunction with the Mirai Corporation, is starting a weekly contest for promoting media activity. He is offering two prizes, one to the best English article, and the other to best Korean article. Winner will be selected by a panel of judges, who's identity is still unknown.

I personally think this is a magnificent idea. The community, especially the RL Koreans, are in a comatose state. They're present, but don't do anything, at least not publicly. This contest coerces the people to speak up, and speak with quality work. I myself have been advocating for activity and had talked to grease about this very idea, less than 12 hours before it was published. I am glad to see it finally happening.

And while I think this is a great idea, should it be successful, I would like to see this expanded. To give a smaller prize to best comment, promoting people actually reading all these great articles, because otherwise they're going to waste. Other small prizes would include giving something for someone writing their first article, as a guarantee, so that new writers are not intimidated by experienced writers. I also would like to see special weeks (maybe one per month) in which the contest has a theme, such as a music festival, or a satire week. Just something to bring in some variety and culture into the eSK life, or give a prompt to somebody who needs inspiration.

The next thing I would like to address, is about the national forum. I wonder how many of you, actually know where our forum is, or that we even have one. A forum is a great tool for which us all to communicate on a level on which a newspaper cannot provide. But we don't take advantage of it, when it is already completely set up for us. It saddens me to be in a country where the administration tells me not to even bother with the forum, cause its not worth it and its dead. I'd like to see the forum revived, and I know others would to. My good friend Khorne the Blood God and I have frequently discussed this problem and how it limits us, and I believe he intends to write a full article on the matter sometime soon. I'd like to see anyone and everyone register on the forum and so we can progress. Our country needs people to say what they think is right, so that we can enact good policies and good practices. It also provides personal opportunities to make friends here in eSK and climb the social ladder, should that be your interest.

The forum can be found here:

Also be sure to post in the Role Call thread.

And lastly, I would like to introduce you to Korea's newest party, The Solar Temple. After discussion with Khorne and Phantom_Lynk (Dan/naD has not responded to my messages, and thus was not available for discussion), we decided we wanted a party that was all about doing what's best for Korea and being active. The Solar Temple is named after a belief that the Sun King watches over the land of Korea, protecting us and providing for us. He enlightens our souls and is behind everything good, illuminating the country. But don't worry, even if you do not believe in Sunocracy our party welcomes you, for that is not what the party is about. It's about taking initiative to help Korea and being active in society, showing what keeps your spirit burning. We want to encourage the public to speak up, and to participate. I want to create a sub-forum for members of The Solar Temple to discuss, but that's when I hit the wall I described above, being told not to bother. I still hope to change this. So I decided to also maintain an IRC channel. This way we can hold quick discussions, to work out our platform details and decisions, and also tighten our community.

The IRC channel for the Solar temple can be found here:
#thesolartemple on Rizon.net

There is also a national IRC channel, which I recommend everyone of you regularly visit, it can be found here:
#SK on Rizon.net

I would like to extend an invitation to everyone in south Korea who is interested in making our country better, or who wants their voice to be heard, to join The Solar Temple. I welcome you with open arms, and should you have any questions about the party, Sunocracy, IRCs, Forums, contests, or anything, feel free to ask. Now have a nice day and may the Sun King illuminate you.
