Constitutional changes

Day 875, 01:08 Published in Belgium Belgium by eBelgian Foreign Affairs
Citizens of eBelgium,

There has been some important activity in the congress resulting in a big constitutional change and another one in debating faze. The important change is the introduction of ‘The Supreme Court of eBelgium’. The court is composed out of five people proposed by the prime minister and approved by the congress. What exactly is the job of those people? I will try to explain it in simple terms (if you want the difficult version, read the constitution on the national forum).

As you do or do not know the congress module on eRepublik is only a small part of the real work of the congress. There are lots of law proposals that don’t fit in the framework of the congress, those proposals are written down and voted upon in the congress part of the national forum. Since those proposals tend to be a bit more difficult than just shifting around money and changing taxes it is often very hard to decide if those proposals are in accordance with the constitution or with other rules and regulations. Therefore the five judges on the supreme court can question the legitimacy of law proposals and even revoke them once at least three of them agree on that. Those judges have no political power, they cannot propose laws and there revocation must be based on legal terms. They only serve the law. Judges serve a term of three months and can be removed by a majority vote of the congress at any time. The prime minister has taken the position that supreme court justices will only be appointed when there is a worthy candidate, as a vacant spot is less worse then a having a poor justice for 3 months untill now Manong Rizal is our only judge, we hope more will apply soon
