Congressmen: The Lazy Bunch
John Wilkmot
Every congress election I publish an article telling about the congressmen who were too LAZY to either a) Register for Canadian Citizenship or b) Make a forum account at all. Not having both those things done means that we will vote down ALL the proposals of people who do not have a citizenship mask on their forum account. So without further adu, the lazy bunch:
No Forum Account
Eric Boucher
Sloche
Lord Terror
Tarkus
Jacobi
Natashan
Frank Duper
Siaw_Hy
Ozzel O'Dunn
Aarkon Dradsmore
No Citizenship mask on their forum account:
Turianel
Francois Paradis
Dabman
That's 13!!!! 13 congressmen who's proposals will never pass unless they get on the eCanadian forums located at ecanada.forumotion.com
Get to it!!!
P.S. (This also may of been caused if your forum account is not the same name as your erepublik account)

BOOOOOOOOOOOO
well i didnt vote in Canada at all xD
Ouch... *And Adasko starts wondering, why the hell didn't he get it 😛*
No surprise, running for congress is what the bored do.
Jacobi is on the forums under some other name, methinks.
My (Jacobi's) forum name is ColCarp
As one of the people mentioned, I think I need to comment on this.
I am very highly opposed to off-site discussion forums for any game. I think that any topic that needs to be discussed can be done so openly without going through some back-door element. One of the big issues we had in eCanada over the last month was the lack of governmental transparency and that lack was one of the factors that led to the current crisis. Off-site forums and private email discussion lists perpetuate the sorts of behavior that led to the crisis that we are attempting to solve. We don't need it and it is demonstrably harmful to the nation.
I said in my campaign announcement that logging in every day and whining on the forums does not make one a patriot or a citizen. That is shown by your actions within the game. If I am going to be judged fairly as a congressman, then judge me by what I do here...not elsewhere. Judge me on my voting record. Judge me on my public commentary. Judge me on whether or not I keep my word. But if you're going to look for someone who makes all the politically correct noises on the forums, vote for someone else.
@Tarkus The simple truth is, register and get a mask or all your proposals will be voted down.
Thx for making that known, John.
@ Takus - The eCanada forum isn't a back-door element. It is the official forum of our eRep nation which link is sent to every new citizen. It is crucial to have such a location, since eRep doesn't provide the players with an in game forum for each nations. There is no place for us to communicate unless we use this forum based outside the game. All citizens are welcomed and contributing in this forum is a crucial part of the game.
Frankly, I am staunchly opposed to that sort of totalitarian attitude. Let's leave the "our way or the highway" ideology to the CEP and the Americans.
lol tarkus it isnt just a few people who use the forums. most of the active members in the country do and our constitution requires you do if u want to be an efficient member of congress
I will vote on Tarkus' proposals based on merit, not on some close minded elitism.
In some MMORPG out there, players that join a clan/faction and never participate in the forums or show signs of activity get booted/pillaged. So either eRep offers more rights to its players, allowing them to play the game as they see fit or the game dynamics are flawed (poor players are too sheltered).
Since forums are not an actual part of eRep programming, joining the game does not mean you must automatically sign up for the forum. No forum, no citizenship, no way to "kick" players, and a variety of options on how to play eRep - seems like the programming leads to these problems because no one is breaking any real rules and no one can enforce imagined ones.
but they can enforce the "imagined ones" because the majority believes in them. voting down proposals that dont follow the rules counts as enforcing. so essentially they are laws even though they arent ingame
Good point about congress proposals, Scorpius. The CAF is another example where "imagined" rules and structures have a real impact in eRep. It's just too bad there aren't penalties or other controls that govern citizens. Yeah, that might be totalitarian, but I'm just saying...
This is standard policy and has been for months, since Canada had a government.
Congress has procedure and those that do not follow it and involve their fellow congressmen in discussing these issues will find their proposals voted down. This is always the case and will remain. It's not my policy, it's Canada's.
Tarkus, you reserve the right to not participate on the off-site forums no one will deny you that, you may vote and debate using the in-game mechanisms. However you will be missing out on the majority of congressional discussions as well as large happening among the active eCanadian community.
I assure no one will ask you to make "politically correct noise" on the forums, we have a very strong freedom of speech policy on the forums and any moderator or administrator caught censoring someone (save for in cases of ToS violation) will be promptly removed as an administrator/moderator indefinitely.
Just don't expect to change Canada without getting involved with the community.
I may not have been masked yet, but I've been very well-informed about issues and haven't missed a vote in congress. In fact, I was the first to vote down that silly change in wood tax that has recently been proposed.
I am very supportive of playing an active role in discussion, which is why I am active on the CSD boards, the comment pages of eCanadian news, and eCanada's IRC. I do think Tarkus has a point, however. This type of authoritative enforcement of policy will alienate the voices of eCanadian citizens that have yet to migrate onto the eCanada forums. Although I think it proper to have a forum for these purposes, we must stridently recommend new citizens to become aware and active in eCanada's social community
lol siaw_hy got elected over me, thats how much of a joke congress elections are.
How about the voter's right to be represented within the eCanadian government? If someone gets voted in but refuses to register an account, and subsequently is unable to participate in discussions, then the people who voted for them don't get that representation.
I don't want to point fingers at you Tarkus, this is meant for everyone on that list. Put aside your problems (or take the time) and register on the forums and effectively represent the people who voted for you. It's called public service.
Julian
I've had problems getting masked for the last couple days, but I wanted to report that I am now masked, thanks to the author of this article.
I thinks a family comedy can be made out of this..."The Lazy Bunch"!
As a representative of the people: being part of the congress comes with responsibilities and duties.
Failing to execute these responsibilities and duties is failing the people. AKA the very same the people that elected you and are counting on you to do your job.
The offline forum is not some whimsy of the elite. It is a vital tool for information, discussion and communicating.
Please be accountable and do your job.
