Congressional Voting Weekly Update (KS)

Day 412, 12:59 Published in USA USA by Ansen

Here is my second update to my congressional voting record during my term as Congressman of the state of Kansas. If you have comments or questions, feel free to message me.

Make sure to vote today!

New Citizen Fee
Citizen fee change from 5 USD to 9 USD.

My Vote: No

Explanation: This was the second (and thankfully last) proposal made by Zigon1, who is now banned for multi-accounting. There was no reason given for making this change. New citizens have enough money to get by, and can raise their skill levels extremely rapidly early on. This proposal would have been an unnecessary expense for the government.

Outcome: REJECTED

Tax change: Grain
Change to 0/25/10 to 0/99/10.

My Vote: No

Explanation: This proposal was sharply debated. I voted no for two reasons. Firstly, the main reason given for making the change was that the cost of food was too high, and this could potentially bring those costs down. I feel that if we want to work towards lowering food costs, that should be done by adjusting taxes directly for the food industry, not the grain industry. Secondly, it was relatively agreed upon that the same tax change in the wood industry has had pretty much zero effect.

Outcome: ACCEPTED

Tax change: Food
Change to 3/25/7 to 3/45/7.

My Vote: Yes

Explanation: I believe this was a much stronger proposal in terms of helping to ease prices in the food industry. See my statements above about the grain tax change for more info.

Outcome: ACCEPTED

Buy Constructions: Defense System
Do you agree that USA should buy a defense system of quality 3 from Impenetrable Shields company at the price of 10000 USD for Alaska?

My Vote: Yes

Explanation: As I have said multiple times, I am a staunch supporter of strengthening our network of defense systems in the eUS, especially in critical border states such as Alaska.

Outcome: ACCEPTED

Tax change: Moving Tickets
Change to 3/20/7 to 1/99/1.

My Vote: Yes

Explanation: This bill simply aimed to help standardize taxes in the manufacturing industries. The increase in income tax from 1% is quite reasonable, and from other industries we've watched, there is no reason to believe that a 20% import tax will result in a flood of foreign companies taking over the market.

Outcome: ACCEPTED

Tax change: Gifts
Change to 3/20/7 to 1/99/1.

My Vote: Yes

Explanation: Exact same as above: "This bill simply aimed to help standardize taxes in the manufacturing industries. The increase in income tax from 1% is quite reasonable, and from other industries we've watched, there is no reason to believe that a 20% import tax will result in a flood of foreign companies taking over the market."

Outcome: PENDING (will be accepted)
