Congress Votes to Raise VAT on Weapons
Heero Blaze
Congress has been discussing the budget for the past few days and how to best increase revenue in lieu of declining income. Congress has also taken notice in the increase of battles. Combining these two occurrences, a discussion of the Value Added Tax (VAT) towards all weapons began.
These guns might be a little bit more expensive, but they are still deadly
With more battles comes the purchase of more weapons. With a higher tax, Congress can increase its revenue and put it towards funding a variety of programs, including our military. VAT for all weapons will increase from 1% to 5% and Congress will carefully monitor whether or not such a change will significantly affect revenue.
Taxes have become a big topic of debate in Congress this month and further adjustments may occur later in the month in other areas, whether it is increasing or decreasing of taxes. The goal is to increase revenue in order to keep our nation strong through our military and other programs while keeping individual Americans financially sound. As noted above, all changes will be carefully watched and I will also keep the public informed on changes once they have been proposed law.
For my readers, what is your opinion on taxes?

My opinion is taxes take money out of the economy. Why not raise it to 2% if you must. Why 5%?

We had discussed how large a percentage the increase should be, 3% was another suggestion. Like I said in the article, we will be adjusting to see how things go. If the tax is too high, then we will lower it. I doubt it will go any higher than 5%, but 5% had been a rate that was used in the past.
looks like it's time to hide my horde of weapons
Taxes is all congress talks about.(Not really, but it is the most talked about thing haha)
vat of 5% on all weapon types until the re-intergration of the millitary skills by admin makes sense.... my estimate is that the 4% increase will lead to roughly 0.5% additional to the weekly taxbase (influenced by continued, sustainable demand)
an import tax of 10% on food would be more benefitial to the country's coffers since we would be taxing external corporate entities, thereby ADDING gold to our economy as a whole instead of VAT taxing our citizens *AFTER* the 23% flat rate income tax.

when I was in Congress it was suggested at 5% and shouted down, so compromise was discussed. High VAT was too damaging to the consumer, Low VAT didn't make enough money were the arguments. and "try something and see, we can adjust or repeal it later on of it's no good" was shouted down as uneducated tinkering.
things like this usually go the way of the loudest and most determined clique. I'll be interested to tune into the Discussion thread if it's Public, and see who's lining up on which side of this.
are Import Tax hike discussions still shouted down, outright, or has there been such a shift of power that this is allowed now?
any discussion of lowering the Income Tax any? 23% is outrageous and we all know it.
Custer, there was no opposition to raising the VAT tax in the discussion. Everyone seemed in line with the 5% increase due to the MPP changes. As for income tax and import tax, those have yet to come to formal discussion.
Also, there were comments here before that aren't here now... weird. I posted here once already in reply to another comment. Both seem to have disappeared somehow.
I do believe the Proposal thread is Public Custer http://eusforum.com/index.php?topic=29593.0
Also, I did see your earlier posts Claire, I don't know where they went lol.
