Congress Update

Day 820, 07:19 Published in USA USA by SGGHays

I wanted to toss out a couple quick updates about this past month in congress and defend a number of decisions I have made.

The number 1 issue facing us this past term was taxes: Income, Import, and VAT. There has been alot of heated debate around raising taxes to both help our country, but also reduce foreign involvement in our economy to help our local GMs. Myself, along with a number of the Budget and Finance committee argued against increasing Imports, especially regarding weapons, because it keeps prices lower which allows our citizens to do more damage. This argument was helped by the fact that the US began assaults against the UK right around the same time. The discussions surrounding the VAT was rather short and sweet and more or less became a topic on Income taxes. This is still currently being heavily debated with both sides putting up good arguments. One side wants to raises taxes slightly to increase government funds by quite a large amount (which helps in conflicts) and the other side wants to keep the money in the hands of the citizens to allow them to buy weapons. We will be looking at a number of statistical charts over the next few days to try and determine the best course of action.
- As you can imagine, I voted No on the proposal and in-game votes to raise the import taxes on a number of items (All of which failed by a large percent)

To name just a few of the other topics that have been/or are currently being discussed in congress:
- The Budget
- Our Economy
- Congressional Library
- CBO Office
- US Treasury & Federal Reserve
- US Bond program

Over the past few weeks and into the coming month, I am collecting data to measure our purchasing power (specifically for weapons) for a number of countries across the board. My results are begining to shape up now, but once further defined I will post charts here.

Much Love (No Homo)
