Cham for CP - Few of us could bear to have ourselves for neighbors - Community

Day 1,110, 11:45 Published in Canada Canada by Chamrajnagar

The community is what lies at the heart of this game. If you take away the social aspect, eRep is really boring.

Therefore, it is important to get new players integrated into the community as soon as possible. Learning the game, and what clicks to make is also helpful...but most won't stay based only on the clicking. That is why it is important to have a detailed welcome message. The community needs to be emphasized in the message, along with links to tutorials on how to play the game.

Another issue I want to tackle is our old mentoring program. It fell into disuse mainly because of the time and effort involved. I would really like to implement an automatic mentoring system. This would involve a self-updating database that polls data from the API. Then we can track all newcomers to eCanada. These new players would then be put in a mentoring queue. Mentors would sign in to a simple website, and ask for x new mentees. A list of x mentees would then pop up with links to message them, and perhaps a pre-filled out message. These players would then be moved into another database, where it would keep track of their mentor. We could perhaps use this info later for some kind of qulaity tracking. This won't be the simplest of tasks, and anyone with PHP knowledge would be greatly appreciated for any help they could provide. I know enough to do the self-updating db, and the auto-messages, but I've never written a PHP front-end.

eCanada is lacking in excitement, and drive. My government pledges to introduce contests, media theme days, and whatever other engaging ideas you, the public, can come up with. We need to get people more involved in the community. I've introduced another Ministry for this purpose, the Ministry of Social Affairs. The Minister will organize all of these ideas, and solicit new ones. S/he will be responsible for implementing the plans from start to finish as well.

The largest project, in scope, my government will work on is a Truth and Reconciliation Commission, originally brought to my attention by saltydog,. Such a project requires a diligent, unbiased, and trustworthy person at its helm. Few names came to mind, and Cypher Rahl was at the top of my list. He has agreed to take on this enormous responsibility. The basic idea of the TRC is that too many people are guilty of something or other, that our community would fall apart if we persecuted all of them. My government is looking at making a fresh start with all the players in eCanada. Any individual that comes forward and admits to misdeeds, with an appropriate plan to reconcile their misdeed, they will not be charged with anything. To prevent abuse, other individuals may not be implicated without concrete proof. This is a drastic, but I feel necessary, measure. eCanada is fracturing, at a time when we need to pull together the most. We are currently being invaded, and we all need to step up and defend our homeland. eCanada needs a hard reboot. Through the TRC, I hope that we can all face a fresh start together in 2011. More information on the TRC will be released soon, should I win the presidency.
