Game Mods Reverse Decision

Forfeit Points Removed

Custer's Stand is my own newspaper. Opinions expressed here are my own.

I am Vindicated!

The article itself was no big deal. Basically, it was fluff, a fill piece for the Army Times on a day when I felt particularly uninspired but needed to publish something.

It was about Teamwork.
I used images and text from RL Army and motorsports websites to illustrate how it takes Teamwork to achieve goals, that such Teamwork is often behind the singular star status we see in individuals. I directly correlated the RL Army and motorsports' practice of Teamwork to our eRepublik US Army, both at the beginning and at the end of the article.

Some reader reported the article as Spam, some Mod agreed, the Army Times piece was deleted and a Forfeit Point was levied against the Army Public Affairs org.
I posted my "pre-publication edit" (an old issue of the paper, not for general distribution as a New Article) link around, asking players to help me understand the Mod's interpretation of the Rules.
My Custer's Stand "pre-publication edit" was then deleted, and a Forfeit Point was levied against my player profile.

I then submitted a Support Ticket, asking for clarification of the Rule, some explanation of how my article fit the definition of Spam.
Only two days later (amazing, huh?) I got a response-- in short, that an Appeal was not allowed, and I was referred to the Rules and Rules Addendum pages, but without any actual explanation for the actions taken.

Another Support ticket was submitted, clarifying that I was not looking for an Appeal but for clarification. This morning I received a reply:
Dear George Armstrong Custer,
I reanalyzed your request and I decided to remove the penalty due to unsubstantial reasons.
Hope this is ok with you and I apologize for the inconvenience caused
Regards,

Moving Forward...

I have submitted a follow-up Ticket, asking that this same reversal of judgement be also afforded the Army Public Affairs Office for the original "offense" in the Army Times. I await a reply, and will accept whatever decision is made without further b*tching.

As I said.. the article itself was no big deal. Even on an off day I do manage to produce quality work, and this one was good. If you saw it, cool-- and thank you. If you missed it, it wasn't groundbreaking news.. just a fluff piece, categorized as "motivational" for the Army Times readers.
Army personnel may find it in the General section of our Forums.

I've been awarded Famous Points before...
I understood last year when I got the Army Times suspended for three days due to publication of a culturally offensive photo. I understood more recently when the Army Times was penalized for publishing a transcript from IRC which contained foul language. Just last week, I had hotlinked a "moti-fake" poster in the Army Times, and the guy went and swapped the image out for a nasty porn thing at the same URL.
I've earned a few penalties on my own account as well. I learned that a political Party can emulate Nazis but you can't say they do. Players can be total asshats but you can't call them that. Some people can publish cookie recipes, others can drop the F-bomb regularly, but I get points for RL references not being game relevant and for saying "hell."

When you make enemies, you play under different restrictions. When you play close to the edge sometimes you get cut. I get that. But this was bullsh*t, the article was not Spam, and I wasn't going to just take this summary judgement initiated by a personal or political enemy and supported by a corrupt and inept possibly biased or overzealous official.

eRepublik writers...

Editors and contributors.. to your own newspapers, and to Official newspapers... be encouraged, not discouraged!
Use a thesaurus, expand your vocabulary and that of your readers. Learn and properly utilize sarcasm and parody. Choose your words carefully-- labor over them, and stand by them.
Push the envelope. Be heard, be not unjustly silenced.
Not for bullsh*t. Take your lumps if you cross the lines, but don't accept improperly administered injustice.

Custer's Mantra:

What kind of game do you play, what kind of players do you like to align yourself with?
What kind of leaders do you want, what kind of leadership do you expect of them?
What kind of country do you want to "live" in and play for?
