Ceann Comhairle End of Term Notes - Including Tracker!

Day 823, 11:27 Published in Ireland Ireland by Darragh O Faolain

Hello Everyone,

The end of the month is nigh, and so are the elections of Congress and subsequently the Ceann Comhairle. As this terms ends I have a few things I need to write about:

1. Vote Totals for Congress Members
2. Request for Supreme Court Case
3. Notes and Observations.

Vote Totals for Congress Members

Over the past month I have kept totals of the amount of votes attended by members of the Dáil. These figures are useful to see if the candidate is worth re-electing! But, do remember this is totally not the only method you should use to evaluate candidates. You should pay attention generally to those with very low totals, and very high totals. Real Life tends to intervene and we mightn't have a vote for a week and then suddenly 4 on at a time, so missing small amounts of time could have a bit impact on votes.

So, without further ado, in order of vote totals last month:

Patton - 13/16 votes
DashRiprock - 11/16 votes
Daniel Kaffe - 8/16
Binksy - 2/16
Longbaugh - Resigned

Overall, we did very well this month and well done to those who scored 10 or over! I have a list of where you voted and where you didn't, so if anyone thinks I may have erred feel free to PM me and I can check it out.

Request for Supreme Court Case

As Ceann Comhairle, after the election of the Supreme Court Justice Theus Jackus, and the appointment of the other 5 members of the Jury I wish to request that the Supreme Court investigate the War Declaration against Norway, the Resistance War in Northern Ireland and the Calling of the War Council. I believe that the actions taken were illegal in these cases, as I have said and I wish to make sure we have a correct procedure to follow should this occur again. I don't anticipate that it will become a witch-hunt, as Justice Jackus has said, but will merely point us in the correct direction in the future. I realise many of you do not believe it is particularly necessary to investigate these events, but it is necessary to find the correct way to address things in the future, even though the War Council has been completely changed.

Notes and Observations

So, I have enjoyed the month immensely and this is one of the most active and opinionated Dáils I have had the pleasure of serving with. There have been tough decisions to make, in relation to determining the legalities of votes, and I know there are people who disagree with me but I believe that I made fair decisions, and generally concessions were granted ie. allowing re-votes etc. I do hope to run again next month (provided I am elected of course!!) as I think that I have a few more ideas to add to the role.

By the way citizens, the Private Dáil transcripts from the start of the current forums up to very recently have all been archived and are available in the Recorder's Archive for your viewing pleasure!

Finally, don't forget to vote smart this election time!
