Carpal Tunnel Weekly - Issue 9 - SPAM Edition

First of all, you may have been directed here by my recent mass spamming of the RLC party, since one of their leaders seems to thinks it's perfectly fine to spam other parties. Fortunately for you, I won’t spam you with annoying political messages you may or may not agree with, and I won’t bash or make fun of someone (though CG, if you are reading this, I am just having fun and feeding the troll as Gnil put it). I just feel that so many people don’t know that much about actual spam. I mean people Spam it all the time, but do they really know what it is?

So it is my intent to clear up a couple misconceptions about Spam, and in order to do that I might have had to actually spam you and the rest of your party. But I did direct you to one of the best papers on eRep as stated by a lot of people, but I am too lazy to go back and look up to create a list. But based on what that list of people would say, you should probably enjoy this a lot more than if I had spammed you with a bunch of political messages.

Since the last publication, the admins have released Rocket Factories, which have been analyzed by a lot of people, so I won’t add much but I do have some market analysis related to Rockets and some Warfare analysis about how rockets change the game a bit later on.

Time to fly around and look at the map!

Not a whole lot to report in North America, Poland tried to attack US soil in North Carolina but failed, which led to the US taking back a Polish territory in Europe before the two sides agreed to a NAP. After Spain took part of Canada for a short period the Canadians took it back quickly, and since then the North American continent hasn’t changed. In South America things are a bit similar to what they were last time, with Argentina and Brazil continuing to dominate with Chile, Colombia and Venezuela having a little bit of success. After growing and taking up most of Mexico, the Colombians were pushed back to just one territory for a while by Indonesia, but Columbia has come back recently and have successfully kicked Indonesia out of the continent.

After taking a bit of a beating a while back, Turkey has come back strong, conquering seven regions from Bulgaria since June 19th. Cyprus, Greece and Israel continue their dominance of the Arabian Peninsula and the Egyptian areas, as they have been doing for a while now. Iran remains strong as well in this section of the Map.

Moving into Asia things have stayed fairly stable as China continues to control much of Pakistan and North Korea, and Taiwan continues to control much of South Korea. Indonesia has been slipping a bit lately as well, losing two regions to the Philippines and four regions in South America to Colombia. New Zealand and Australia continue their endless war, but the territories haven’t moved at all recently.

Portugal have made a bit of a come back after being wiped by Spain and now have a couple territories. The UK tried to have some fun with France, who while under a lot of pressure from Poland was losing territories left and right and the Uk wanted to join the fun. They did, taking Brittany for a while, until the French gained the region back and then decided to take over the South West of England. Though they have had a little bit of success against the British, France and one of our other big European allies in Germany continue to struggle to hold onto territory against Poland, who continue to control much of Europe and now have 100/100 resource bonuses.

Hungary, once thought to be one of the powers in Europe has struggled a lot lately, losing seven consecutive wars and six territories in their war with Romania before finally winning one. Serbia and surprisingly Slovenia have both continued to push west and gain some land as well, leaving Italy down to one territory right now. Croatia has also pushed west a bit and gained some land. And way up North in the Scandinavian Peninsula we have a good battle going on between Sweden and Russia though it appears Russia has a slight advantage right now.

We have had a very interesting Congressional election lately, but I won’t go into it too much since we are looking at a very interesting Presidential election in a couple days. I will thank my supporters (I ran for Congress under the Feds in Maine) for the fun ride, it was a learning experience for me since I have never ran for Congress before. Unfortunately I was up against three seasoned veterans and after a while it appeared that I did not stand much of a chance this time, but I learned a lot and will be more prepared next time.

Onto the upcoming Presidential Elections, after some heated Party Primaries it appears we have settled down to a two man race. On one side we have Evry who has the support of the AMP, the USWP and the Feds (along with a couple smaller parties) who make up three of the four largest parties in the country. Evry appears to be the establishments candidate and so far has chosen a cabinet of qualified individuals who for the most part already work in some sort of position similar to the one Evry is planning to give them. Evry is expected to be the favorite due to the sheer number of voter support expected.

On the other side we have GloveisLove who has the support of one top five party, the RLC, and the support of a whole bunch (at the time of publication this list is 8 parties long) of smaller parties (all with less than 100 people) and is hoping to win as an underdog with the support of the smaller groups. He also has chosen a well qualified cabinet of veterans from a lot of smaller parties which gives the impression that he has chosen them for the votes they bring. Being a master of the media, Glove has some work to do to gather up the votes required to beat out Evry, but a lot of people seem to think he can do it.

It should be a close race between these two candidates, and both were fighting for support of other parties to increase their vote totals. I was in one of those parties, the Feds who hold their own open primary to decide which candidate they will support. It came down to just a 3 vote difference between supporting Evry or supporting Glove, but this month the Feds will support Evry. Another large party people are wondering about is Inci, though it appears they won’t take a side in this fight and will instead run their own member pampuan reyis as a candidate right now.

The Admins introduced Rocket Factories into the game, which led to some strange things happening in the markets before things calmed down and went back towards normal. As with anything that gets introduced into a game like this, it becomes the cool new thing that everyone has to try out, which means a heck of a lot of people initially thought that Rockets were going to be the new thing. This led to people buying rocket factories (which they may have later regretted) and then needing massive amounts of all qualities of weapons. This of course led to a jump in the price of weapons (and a jump in Weapons Raws) which saw Q3 weapons being twice the cost of a Q6!! Old stockpiles that people hadn’t sold off since the economy sucked were suddenly being sold at 2 or 3 times the price people had expected to get from them previously.

With people needing weapons, people also needed cash for weapons, which led to lots of people trading their stockpiles of gold for cash. The price of gold dropped from around $3000 USD per 1 gold to under $2300 USD per 1 gold for a while. It has since risen back up to around a $2500 USD conversion rate, which may be helped by a recent sale on gold. Expect the price of gold to go back up a bit now, and probably go back into its steady rise as it has been doing the last couple weeks.

With the price of weapons skyrocketing overnight, suddenly it became cost effective to temporarily hire some workers for lower quality weapons, like Q3 or Q4. This led to lots and lots of people posting new job offers, trying to get some employees to make a quick buck before the price of weapons dropped back down. So wages also skyrocketed with the new Rocket Factories. Though after the initial flurry of activity things have settled back down. Wages are back down closer to where they were before, the price of gold has gone back up a bit and the price of weapons have come down to earth, although they will likely stay higher than they were before since people will still need to buy weapons for their rockets, but we shouldn’t be seeing Q4 weapons going for $70.00 per weapon again anytime soon.

I am planning on doing two kind of lengthy interviews with the two main presidential candidates;
Glove and whoever the USWP decides to run after their Primary (though there may be a third candidate, we shall see what happens in the next two days) and publish it probably July 4th, so be on the lookout for that article.

The admins have released Rocket Factories which caused a couple things to go crazy for a while, until people found out more info about the Rockets and things calmed down. For most people rockets are an expensive one time use toy which can really only be used to snipe a BH medal, however if one does not secure a BH medal with a rocket it then becomes an expensive and wasted toy.

You can only produce one rocket a day, and can only have one in your storage, so theoretically the most you could use during the day would be two (use one in your storage built yesterday, build another quickly and use that one) or you could use 3 of them if you time it right at the daily reset (at midnight game time, use one from your storage made the previous day, make one and use it right before midnight, then make and use another one right after midnight). However, at this stage using multiple rockets becomes very expensive.

Some people have decided that rockets are fun and worth the money, but most have seemed to either ignore it, or test it out (cause it’s the cool new thing to do!) and then decide it’s not really worth it. It seems the admins added something into the game that only the gold buyers will use on a regular basis, others might use it every now and then but it is too expensive for most people to make a rocket on a daily basis.

This change has made BH hunting a bit more difficult, since someone could snipe you in the last seconds with a single rocket. You now have to build up more of a lead to make sure someone doesn’t come along and take your BH. It also makes BH hunting easier for the rich people (or the Gold buyers) since they have the ability to buy rockets more often than other people, and can thus use more rockets to obtain BH medals through sniping. It’s an interesting addition to the game, but it only makes this game harder to play for the non gold buyers.

Since we are on the topic of Spam, why not give some interesting facts about the meat (can we call it a meat?) you probably didn’t know.

- SPAM is sold in over 99% of U.S. grocery stores
- The SPAM luncheon meat trademark is registered in 93 countries
- Over 60 million people in the U.S. eat SPAM
- Over 141 million cans of SPAM are sold worldwide each year
- Residents of Hawai'i eat an average of four cans of SPAM per person per year, more than in any other place on Earth
- If all the cans of Spam ever eaten were put end-to-end, they would circle the globe at least ten times
- SPAM is made in two U.S. locations - Austin, Minnesota, and Fremont, Nebraska, as well as being made in seven other countries - England, Australia, Denmark, Phillipines, Japan, Taiwan, and South Korea
- In Korea, SPAM is sold in stylish presentation gift boxes of nine cans each. SPAM stolen from army PXs can be found on the Korean black market. And there are Korean imitations called Lo-Spam, Dak, Plumrose, and Tulip, to ensure that no one need go without

SPAM’s ingredients are:
- Chopped pork shoulder meat with ham meat added.
- Salt (for binding, flavour, and firmness)
- Water (to help in mixing)
- Sugar (for flavour)
- Sodium Nitrite (for colour and as a preservative)

Now you know more than you probably ever cared to know about SPAM!!

How about some really interesting and creative stairs, because although you probably completely ignore stairs for most of your life (except when you trip on them) there are some stairs out there worth a minute or two of your time.

On the left is a flight of stairs in the Longchamp Store in NY designed by Heatherwick Studio, who also have designed one of the coolest passenger bridges you will ever see. On the right is a a 10 mm sheet of steel folded several times to create a very unique ribbon staircase, the design was created by czech architects HSH.

Every week I will be doing a giveaway to one of my subscribers, actually, lets make it a double giveaway to two of my subscribers this week, so this week the winners are John Jay and WayMilky who both win 150 Q5 Food and 25 Q6 Tanks.

Each week I will be doing this, prizes will change from week to week depending on what I have in my storage (may be weapons, food, gold, usd or a combination), and all you have to do to win is be a subscriber! Unfortunately the game does not allow us to see who our subscribers are so I am doing my best to make a list of subscribers. If you do subscribe just say something in the comments below, if you have said something about subscribing to my paper in the past then you are on the list. But if you clicked subscribe and did not say anything there is no way for me to know, so feel free to say something below. If you are not sure whether or not you are on the list you can PM me and I can let you know.
