CTW - I5 - June 11th, 2012

eRep released a new Military Module that makes it easier to kill someone (one click to use up enough food to kill them rather than having to click 3, 4 or 5 times) and easier for younger level players to get BH medals (the game now gives 4 BH medals per round to 4 different divisions based on level and exp). Will this actually be a good thing? Lets wait and see. Also, I would type up something lengthy but it seems everyone already has a bunch of analysis on the new module, so I will just direct you here where you can scroll through the last couple pages of the latest articles released in eUS and find at least a dozen good articles with information on the new war module.

I was very busy this weekend so this is going to be shorter and right to the point, a quick recap:

China was kicked out of Europe after losing its territories to Spain and suffering some defeats against the Serbians, it was a fun ride and maybe they will do it again some day.

The US/Poland war was again kind of boring as Poland sort of had their way with the Americans, though the Germans and French have had some success against the Polish.

Not sure if this is massive trolling or not, but it appears we may be on the edge of a Ireland/Canada war . . . not really sure why they would do that, but a lot of smack talk has happened so far, so who knows.

Columbia has started to push back against the Indonesian invasion of South America, and Venezuela has become fairly strong securing a lot of regions lately.

And New Zealand and Australia continue their battles with Argentina stepping in to take a couple regions.

In the recent Elections for Country President Israel Stevens stepped into the White House for the first time, with a very similar cabinet and support group from the previous administration, Artela’s second term. I would give you more analysis but the CP election page is blank . . . though recently it wasn’t blank and it looked completely different from what we are used to seeing. It looks like they are working on overhauling the look of elections (to make them easier to read and understand I hope). Though Israel Stevens was nice enough to do an interview with me which is later on in the article.

Coming up very shortly is the Party President elections where you get to decide who from your political party gets to run it for the next month. This Friday, the 15th, is the PP election and 10 days after that is the congressional elections where a lot of people have already started looking ahead. I am thinking of throwing together a little something and attempt to get into congress, though based on what congress has done in the past couple months I am not sure I want to be there.

I was going to publish a fairly lengthy article on the economic module with all sorts of stats, calculations and even graphs and I had started to type up some of the stuff, but then the news that they are changing the military module came out. There was a lot of speculation that the new military module may affect the economic module so I decided to not publish anything since it may be obsolete in a couple days.

It does look like the new military module will have an affect on the economic module but I will wait a couple days until things settle down (people are still learning how the new military module works) and then publish something on the economic module. On the Facebook page of eRep there was a quote where one of the admins said that they are working on the economic module and that is the next thing to get fixed, but that could take weeks or months until that new system comes out.

Anyway, here is a quick summary of what I was going to say in detail combined with some analysis on the new war module and how it affects the economic module.

The economic module sucks, prices are way too low, gold is way too high and buying certain things is absolutely pointless. For instance buying a Q3 or Q5 raw materials buildings (either food or weapons, it doesn’t matter much) was stupid since the price of gold was so high you could get 2X-3X the raw materials if you took your gold and converted it to USD and then bought some Q4 raw material buildings. Previously, a lot of upgrades had ROI lengths (return on investment) that were in the ‘several months’ range, those have now turned into several years because gold went way up and prices went way down. That made it stupid to spend your gold on factory upgrades unless you had lots of extra gold (and didn’t know what to do with it) and really wanted to produce higher quality stuff.

At the moment, the only thing worth putting your gold into was upgrading training grounds since the return was under a year and at the end you had a lot more strength making getting BH and CH medals easier. Though it looks like things are going to change soon.

A quick little analysis on the new war module, well not the military aspect of it, there is enough of that out there, but the economic effect of it. One of the major problems with the game was the over consumption of gold in the game, since more gold was being taken out (through buying upgrades or items with gold) than was being put into the game (either players buying or earning it) which led to the price of gold rising and rising and rising compared to USD (which stays pretty steady). The new military module should help fix that though. Previously, both sides received one single BH medal per mini battle and one CH medal per way, this led to a max of 160 gold being put into the game from one war (15 rounds max, 10 gold from BH medals per round (5 X 2 sides), plus another 10 at the end of the war from CH medals).

Though with the new changes the gold being put into the game from medals won during wars will go way up. In each round both sides will give away 4 BH medals totaling 14 gold per side, or 28 gold per mini battle round. With a max of 15 rounds thats up to 420 gold from BH medals per war, add on another 10 for the CH medals at the end and each war has the potential to add up to 430 gold into the game. Or, well over twice (almost 3x) what the a single war gave previously. This is leading to an influx of gold into the game which should balance out the previous overconsumption and bring the price of gold down. Gold has already fallen down to 2290 USD per 1 gold, but the new military module is still very very new. Expect the price of gold to keep dropping for a while.

This week we have an interview with new eUS CP Israel Stevens to show a side of him most people never see.
CTW - Which came first, the egg or the chicken?
IS - The egg did.

CTW - What's your favorite sport/sports team?
IS - Depends on the season. Right now, Boston Red Sox

CTW - What's your favorite Movie?
IS - Just watche😛 Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. Was very good.

CTW - What type of music do you listen to and what's your Favorite Band?
IS - A blend of Alternative and Classic Rock. Mostly alternative though. Favorite band is Muse.

Can you explain your avatar for those who don't know?
IS - His character name is Omar Little. He's a stick up man from Baltimore. He was on HBOs The Wire. Which was the greatest show ever created by mankind.

CTW - What's your favorite food?
IS - Anything barbequed or smoked.

CTW - Favorite Superhero and why?
IS - Batman I guess? Was never really into superhero movies.

CTW - You're a world class force with only 2 BH medals, what gives?
IS - I've been playing for two and half years. That rank is more a result of my age than how much I fight. I don't gold beast, so I have to save up Bazookas like everyone else.

CTW - How do you like your new job so far?
IS - Dude... it's so much work. And everyone always wants something.

CTW - Planning on running again next month?
IS - 😮

I was watching the Canadian Grand Prix yesterday and for some odd reason thought of this, and decided to show it to you guys since it's kinda cool (though a bit scary for the driver):

It happened a little over two years ago at the first practice session at the main straight of the Shanghai International Circuit. Sebastien Buemi, driving for Torro Rosso, was driving at around 190 mph when he applied the brakes, unfortunately something in the suspension could not handle the pressure and snapped sending both tires to fly off of the car in spectacular fashion. The driver slowed down and ended up grinding to a stop in a pebble run off area and walked away from the accident without any injuries.

Cool? Creepy? Immoral? Interesting? Whatever you want to call it, people are talking about it. Above is a cat named Orville, belonging to Dutch Artist Bart Jansen, who was killed in a car accident several months ago. After spending some time in a freezer, the cat was eventually stuffed with some electronics and fitted with propellers and is now basically a strange remote control helicopter.
