CTW - I5 - June 4th, 2012

EZC recently finished up their week long War Games and were very successful in the process. I helped run these and you can read all the updates in my previous articles if you want. During the 6 day competition, EZC took the top spot in the eUS MU rankings 5 Times!! Including dominating the rankings the final 3 days of the competition where EZC put up nearly twice as much as the second ranked MU all three days! Good work guys, it was a lot of fun and we look forward to having another War Games sometime later this month.


Things have started to get somewhat epic between Terra/Eden and ONE lately, with a lot of good battles and certain countries being wiped completely. Looks like some nice battles in Europe will be happening over the next couple weeks.

China (our allies) continued its push into Europe and with the help of Portugal they have completely wiped Spain for a little bit, though spain did win some resistance wars and currently have just two regions at the moment. They did this without the help of eUS, since even though some eUS territories are right there and eUS could help attack Spain, we have an agreement with them that doesn’t let us attack them. It didn’t matter though since China and Portugal flexed their muscles and didn’t need and help from the Americans.

China hasn’t stopped yet though, and have moved right towards Serbia with the help of the Italians. Even though Italy and China are allies, Italy made a very bold and smart move in making China a Natural Enemy, this allowed China to attack its own ally and gain a region that was critical to their continued push towards Serbia. If Italy hadn’t sacrificed the Balaeric Islands to China, the Chinese would have been stuck in a war with Spain and not have the ability to move more towards Serbia until the war with Spain was over.

Since then China has attacked and beaten Serbia in the first war and gained the region of Sardinia from them. This is a heavyweight war between two of the most powerful countries in erep and so far the numbers have been very impressive. So strap up your boots and get ready to help our allies in China push back against the Serbians!

Germany is starting to regain some of its regions that it had lost recently to both Poland and Hungary. After Hungary went on a rampage plowing through parts of Germany and taking over large portions of France, things changed when they pushed a little too far and gained a border directly with an eUS territory. Since then they have lost war after war and are now completely wiped from the map. With a push by USA as well as some strategic wars by Germany and France, Hungary went from a whole bunch of regions to nothing in a matter of days.

Through this push by the US, the Americans have gained a border with Poland which led to another war with them. Last time was a disappointment to many people, but hopefully this time a war between eUS and ePOL will be a bit more exciting. So far we had a good first battle that Poland won and so far the second battle is also going Poland's way . . . Let's pick it up people!


Presidential Elections happen tomorrow (so GOTV!!) and for the first time in a while it might actually be a bit interesting. The establishment candidate is Israel Stevens who should have a lot of support but will that support come through or will some of that expected support switch over to one of the other two candidates. Running for the Feds is Cromstar who some people say should come in third, but he seems to be a darkhorse candidate who could get a lot more votes than you think. The expected runner up is GloveisLove running for the Pot Party, he is also a former CP of eUS (many people don’t think he did that good of a job though).

Both Cromstar and GloveisLove have very broad cabinets lined up with some younger people who will bring a new view on the eUS government should they get in. Israel Stevens cabinet is more of the same as he takes a lot of people from the previous cabinet (Artela’s second term) and seems to be more worried about vote totals than looking for fresh new faces.

Of course we always have the omnipresent General Cartman Lee who just never seems to go away (even after getting permanently banned he comes back from the dead). If some votes are split between other candidates he may surprise some people and jump up into second, but the majority of eUS citizens will do everything they can to prevent him from having the top spot, so he has no chance at actually winning.

Carpal Tunnel Weekly officially endorses Cromstar for president who brings a lot of experience in, well, Everything as well as a fresh new face in the WH. Though, CTW would not mind seeing GloveisLove either as both candidates will bring a new vision into the eUS WH. Remember to vote tomorrow - June 5th!!


The Food and Weapons market continues to drop as everyone now expects. Though FRM and WRM (food raw materials and weapons raw materials) have seemed to have hit rock bottom and have been hovering around $0.06 for FRM and $0.07 for a couple days now, apparently we have finally reached the overproduced supply and underconsumed demand lines to find a happy (well probably unhappy for most people) equilibrium point. Weapons and Food continues to drop, slowly and steadily, it almost seems like the economy will never be fixed.

Gold on the other hand continues to climb, reaching a conversion rate of over 2230 USD to 1 Gold. At this high rate, combined with the low prices, buying anything with gold is kind of stupid. It will take you over 7 years to start getting a return on your investment (known as ROI, return on Investment) if you were to spend 441.2 gold on a Q6 food factory (when they have a sale, the base price when they don’t have a sale is 780 gold, but Never Ever buy an upgrade unless they are on sale). If you have around 50 gold and decided to spend it on a Q3 Weapon factory (buy the Q1 and get the Q2 and Q3 upgrades when they go on sale) it would take you nearly 600 Days to get a return on your investment. If you have a Q5 food factory and want to turn it into a Q6 food factory, that single 224 gold investment will take 20 Years to get a ROI at the current market prices. Now, obviously these numbers are based on the current prices, and there is no possible way that these prices will stay at this level for the next year or two (let alone 20 years) so these numbers will change, but right now spending any amount of gold on your Food or Weapon factories is stupid.

The only thing worth investing your gold in right now is Training grounds upgrades (preferably the free daily training ground) which will give you a decent ROI of around 280 days (and give you a lot of extra strength with which you can get BH and CH medals more easily). Otherwise you should probably hoard your gold if you want to keep it, or at the high transfer rate you could get a lot of USD if you were to convert it, then you could use the USD for various things.

I will be doing a longer article strictly on the current market prices, ROI lengths, over-supply and under-demand of various things as well as some recommendations on short term fixes and long term fixes that should help the game. I know the admins will likely never read it and even if they read it they won’t care at all (well, that is if they can understand it), be on the lookout later this week.


I am adding two newspapers to my Recommended Readings today, first off for every younger player the eUS Department of Education has their Education Today newspaper that publishes educational articles on a whole bunch of different topics of erep. Ever wanted to know more about irc or wanted to know how to run for congress? This is a very good source of info (even for experienced players) you should check out.

And second we have 16 Shells put out by Gnilraps, a very experienced and knowledgeable player who publishes some very interesting articles. That and he did over 2700 kills on the last day of the EZC War Games to help give his regiment the championship as well as vault himself into first place in the individual competition.

Coca-Cola, one of the world’s most popular beverages originally started off as an cocawine way back in 1886 in Atlanta before several changes were made over the years to what it is today. Cocawine is an alcoholic wine beverage with added coca leaves, the alcohol acts as a solvent and extracts the cocaine from the coca leaves, combining with the alcohol to alter the drink and give it a unique taste as well as a unique effect when drinking it. The drink also got a lot of its taste and caffeine from the Kola nut (which grows on a tree in Africa), hence the name Coca-Cola.

Unfortunately over the years cocaine and then alcohol were banned in the US, so the recipe had to be changed to what it is today. The current formula no longer contains any alcohol, no cocaine and they have stopped using kola nuts to help flavor the drink (though a lot of other cola drinks use Kola nut extracts to flavor their drinks). The main reason that Coca-Cola set itself up to succeed where many early soda style drinks from the early 20th century failed was an incredible marketing program and excellent distribution. After a failed attempt in the 1980s to switch to a new recipe, Coca-Cola went back to and still uses a very old recipe which is kept in a hidden vault underneath a bank with only a few people having access to it.
