Car Talk
screamingslave
The old back and forth here has gotten a bit tiring. How about a change of pace.
American muscle or Japanese efficiency? British Elegance or German Engineering? and then there are the Italians and their wild cars haha.
I find car people are always so divided over brands and models.
I like a little of everything myself.
Favorite American: the boxy under powered malaise Cadillac from between the late 70's to the beginning of the 90's. Still rear wheel drive super long with sharp boxy style. I love the velour couch on wheels interiors and the big diamond tail lights.
Favorite Japanese: this is a hard hard choice for me. There are the cars tv and movies have made popular but I've kind of always liked the Honda NSX. I love that the various Japanese companies made little 6 cylinder supercars.
Favorite German: The Germans are my favorite. I've owned a few over the years from the 80's and damn were they well made cars. My current project, an 86 500SEL imported Europe, is such a surprising car compared to what else was out in the same era haha. It has silly things like a reclining electric back seat haha. And because its the long wheel base model the back seat is very roomy.
Favorite British: Aston Martin Vanquish has always caught my eye. It has striking stile and piles of performance while still maintaining some luxury and elegance. Just make sure you have the extended warranty Lol.
Other: I used to dream about Ferrari's and Lambos and such. But I've always felt like those cars were just too crazy and niche. And with how Ferrari polices their brand and treats it like you don't own your car I've seriously lost interest. But no holds barred money is no object I think it would be pretty rad to drive around in an Aventador once in a while. It has the typical extreme Lambo style without being as over the top as some of the newer ones haha.
What do you like and why? or are you one of those weirdo's that just think a car is a machine for getting from A to B 😛

Favorite American: we don't have many American cars here, so I don't have a favorite. I currently drive a Jeep Grand Cherokee and like it very much.
Favorite Japanese: we had a Nissan 350Z convertible, that was fun. Will most probably try out the bigger Lexuses soon.
Favorite German: BMW 7-series. The same ride comfort as the MB S-series, but much more fun to drive. A 745i is my daily drive along with the Grand Cherokee.
Favorite British: we don't have many British cars either, but Rolls-Royce might be the one. Never driven one, so might change my mind.
Other: any well kept Saab would turn my head.
My SO is a fan of big Citroens, he currently drives a C6 and an XM.
We've had several Xantias and C5s, too. The magic carpet ride is incomparable to anything else.
Those are great choices! 😃 those Cherokee's are amazing off road and everybody i know who's had one finds them to be super durable as well!
I've lusted after the nissan z series ever since my friend in highschool got an old beater 240z. I thought I might get one of the new ones but buying new cars is such a bad value. I also thought about getting a RHD toyota aristo from japan. that car is wild with the engine from a supra (even though it was in the aristo first lol) but 4 doors and comfortable.
I'm a big fan of the bmw's as well. I had an old early 80's 320i that was fun. and I had an 89 535is. I wish i had that car still it was such a beauty. I love that whole era of shark nose styling. With all the retro cars going around i secretly hoped bmw would do a retro styled shark nose car but it probably would not fit into modern design. jealous of the 745i for sure! 😃
I've never had the chance to drive a citroen. there are very very few of those here.
I am so good with cars. When it comes to cars I am a total
blank.
I something take 3 minutes to think what my car make is.
I have not driven it in 9 months. I walk or use my bicycle.
I am Not trolling.
I can not remember makes or types of cars when they ask me.
All I ''know'' to answer most of the time is what color a persons car
was or if it had 2 doors, 4 doors ,small, big, sunroof, old, new
van, lorry, two seater or something very obvious missing from it.
nothing wrong with that. good public transit and inter city rail makes cars more of a luxury in the right cities and regions.
Unfortunately most of North America is very car focused. Where I live the public transit is awful unless you live right in the downtown or along one of the LRT lines.
Are you interested in machines at all? like air planes or trains or boats or excavators or anything really?

In cyprus we do not have rail or trains. It was it started in October 1905 and abolished in December 1951. We just have taxis, buses , ships, boats and coaches as public transport. I just see planes, trains , boats ,cars, just as a way to move around. I do not let my brain have more affection for these things. The only machine I AM interested is my washing machine to wash my clothes. I do like traveling though by plane, I do like traveling by cruise ships, I do like going on coach excursions. I have not been in a train for years but what I did like about London underground and Trains transport in the uk was ... finding and picking up interesting newspapers and magazines at the end of my destination
American: The Ford Mustang Shelby from the film Need for Speed. Man that thing is soooo sexy.
Japanese: Subaru Impreza WRX STI - Colin McRae era rally spec.
German: Well I drive a VW Golf GTD, but my favourite is the Audi RS6 Avant in grey 2018 shape.
British: Mclaren 720s. The car id buy if I won the lottery.
Other: VW Polo WRC spec. Oh boy. I’d just drive it round town like a complete twat using anti lag launch control off every traffic light, breaking windows.
oh man rs6 wagon is the stuff dreams are made of! Its rare I meet a fellow wagon enthusiast. here everybody just wants an SUV, there is very little love for hot hatches and wagons.
Mclarens are very nice. I always forget about them which is not fair to them haha.
I had an Audi S4 Avant in blue which was stage 2 remapped and it was insanely quick. 520BHP, was a weapon. Just ended up being way too expensive on fuel in the UK so had to sell 🥲
omg yeah that would be so fun but so expensive to run. I've never had the chance to make a lot of power with cars.
I really enjoyed the A3 hatch and really was sad they dont sell the RS3 here. that car is insane.
Aha yeah my friend had an RS3, fricken awesome car. It wasn’t as quick as my S4 though, I had the 3.0 supercharged model. Instant torque, was scary 😂. I’m surprised they never sold them across the pond.
Reading about what you 2 above are talking about..it all sounds chinese to me.
