Candidate Questionnaire[#2: Jan 2010]

Day 776, 12:40 Published in Ireland Ireland by The Dagda

eDate: Day 776 of the New World

It's the presidential elections again, and because I enjoyed interviewing the candidates last month, I have decided to interview them again this month. In less than a day eIreland will select a leader; there are five paths that eIreland may choose to go down. I have interviewed the incumbent, AppleMan, along with the four others gunning for his job: Edana Savage, Moomoohead, Kit Fisto, and Dan Murchadh.

The Questions:

Q1: What are your plans for eIreland on a domestic level? On an international level?

Q2: What are your short-term and long-term goals for eIreland?

Q3: If elected, what would you do differently your second term/from the current administration?

Q4: What do you think of the competition this election? Who do you think is your biggest threat?

Q5: What would you say is the number one reason people should vote for you?

Now for your candidates answers!

Appleman

Answer to Q1& Q2: I plan to first get my second term Cabinet up and running and then decide which areas to focus on within Ireland and abroad. I find that my specailists Ministers know more about their respective fields than I do so I trust their judgement.

Continued Answer to Q1: That being said, I will pobably need to focus on the health and morale of new citizens. Our retention rate is terrible and has been for many months. I want to change that. On an International level, I will be deploying the IDF to help sovreign nations become/remain that way. We need to find the best places to do so.

Continued Answer to Q2: For the short term I want to get our IDF set up to deploy ASAP, then do so. Finding deployment targets that benefit our security is more tricky and will be a long-term goal.

Answer to Q3: I plan to focus on the military more in my second term. In my first term I knew that my Chief of Staff was building our communication system.
Now I want to use it.

Answer to Q4: I see Moo and Savage as my main competitors in this election. Edana has more expreience but Moo has alot of political weight. Both have built good relationships with many new citizens, this pays off at the polls.

Answer to Q5: The number one reason people should vote for me is; I am an experienced leader. Many people don't realize that a President does not do very much directly, he/she is a Manager. In Ireland we have a Cabinet system where the Ministers do most of the daily tasks. An effective President knows how to work with all of his Ministers and the Dail to lead Ireland to success.

Edana Savage

Answer to Q1: Domestically I would like to change the way Ministries are applied for, connect the Ministries who touch New Citizens more tightly together, and pay particular attention to business owners and our economy as it will help us to fund military action. Internationally. I would like to see us become involved in over seas conflicts in line with our world view, defending countries under imperialistic attack.. I would also like to revamp our Ministry of Information to travel to other countries and report in the news what is happening in the world around us. And finally, to take a hard look at alliances. I hear a lot about the benefits, but I know there are downsides too. We need to take an honest look at what we give up when we join an alliance.

Answer to Q2: Short term goals are many of what is listed above already. There will be several short term goals being worked on simultaneously. The Northern Ireland exercise will be one of them. As well as changing the Ministry application process and the Ministry of Information. Longer term goals which may or may not be competed this term depending on what we find will focus on alliances, our Constitution, and identifying and correcting weaknesses in our intelligence and military networks.

Answer to Q3: Communication is the big one. I had made my view known to the current administration. They thought they were doing enough. I disagreed. You will see updates at least once every other day if not every day depending on what is happening in our country. I know we can’t tell the general population EVERYTHING, but there are a lot of things that can be and should be talked about.
The second thing I would do differently is to have my ministers’ report in regularly. This was something that Patton did and I appreciated it. It’s not meant to interfere with the ministry functions, but to know what is going on and to make sure that all parts are running smoothly and fit in with the national goal. I want to know if my Ministers are running into obstacles so that I can find a way to remove them. I want to know if they are overworked so that we can find more people to help. I want to know what is working well so that I can recognize them appropriately.

Answer to Q4: I’m not sure how to answer this question. I think each candidate brings something to the table. I like them all. However, I wouldn’t be running if I didn’t think I could do a fantastic job.
It’s hard to say who the biggest threat is. Moo has proven he can motivate a voter base. Appleman has the backing of the ISD, which is not an insignificant group of people. I think that my ability to work with many different people and my experience as a soldier, a TD and a Minister gives me an advantage over Moo. My ability to inspire through my writing and the fact that people know what I’m about gives me an advantage over Appleman. In all honesty, I work for the man and I still don’t know him. I know John Jay, but I don’t know Appleman.

Answer to Q5: I am more than a bunch of pretty words. I am a person of action, and action is what Ireland needs.

Moomoohead

Answer to Q1: I would like to see the creation of a national newspaper in eIreland, with the goal of it being the top newspaper in the world. Our country should be known as the greatest writers of the eWorld. I think it is time we join a military alliance and get some real war to this country to boost our population and economy. This is one of the main areas I differ from my opponents. I would also like to strength Irish business by working with them to increase there productivity.

Answer to Q2: If elected I would only serve one term as president. If I commit to doing something I will work my butt off at it. I do not think I could take the time commitment for longer than that. My goals would be simple: to reverse the dramatic downward trends we have recently experienced in population and GDP.

Answer to Q3: See questions 1 and 2 and the position papers I have released.

Answer to Q4: I think all the other candidates are component, honest, and hard working. The election should not be about personalities, but about what the candidates are proposing to do. I hope the voters read through the positions and decide on which candidate best represents their views.

Answer to Q5: Coolest name in eIreland, if not that then because I am proposing joining a military alliance.

Kit Fisto

Answer to Q1: A good cabinet is a best plan for both levels. I think that the MoNC and MoI will be key figures this month.

Answer to Q2: I will try to focus on long-term goals rather then short-term. My major focus will be on the continuity of wargames and completing the 'master plan'. I will also insist on not joining any alliance.

Answer to Q3: Instead of trying to do something different, I'll try to do something better.

Answer to Q4: I don't consider anyone a threat, they are all good and capable people.

Answer to Q5: I'll kick their arse if they don't. 😛

Dan Murchadh

Answer to Q1:Domestically, I want to reshape Ireland from an inherent Nanny-State to a Free Market economy, in which the Free Market provides nearly all. The State would facilitate only Defense and Hospital development as suited. It would also provide buffer jobs in each skill field. I wish for opportunities for every walk-of-life here.

Internationally, I want Ireland to be seen a participant, not just the levers of Government, but the people. We have several avenues of approach here. The Media, Congress, Parties, and President. We need to recognize that our citizens can judge for themselves.

Answer to Q2: Short term: To grapple and delude State-Enterprise. To retain our citizens while WWIV engulfs the world. To reorganize the Tax structure to minimalist income tax, and slightly higher VAT tax on manufactured products (like a flat sales tax).

Long term: I wish for the Government to have Free Trade with all, and Alliances with none. To be self autonomous.

Answer to Q3: I certainly will be more vocal from that position. Also, with the sweeping change of a non-corporatist State, I will work with Congressmen/women, Party Presidents, Presidents to build fundamental positions that are easily defined by the citizenry.

Answer to Q4: I believe there are more lower ranked members vying for the Position. The biggest threat would be if we have to vote for someone who does not cooperate with their peers.

Answer to Q5: I am active and I will regularly inform the Irish Citizen about my conferring with others in leadership positions, both foreign and domestic.

I want to thank the candidates for giving me the chance to interview them. Good luck to all of them tomorrow, and may the best candidate win. Remember to vote, and vote wisely tomorrow eIreland. Read manifestos as to make the most informed decision possible. Thank you for reading, and vote this up so all of eIreland may see their candidates answers.
