Canada’s Lost Honour—The Real Story

Day 426, 09:25 Published in Canada Canada by Zanalan

Augustus Baldwin and the CEP would have Canadians believe that we have no standing in the International community. According to him, “Canada and its people are an international laughing stock.” It saddens me that Augustus holds the Canadian people and the Canadian military in such low regard. I, on the other hand, believe that our ATLANTIS allies respect us and hold our opinions in high regard.

It is true that we are not a military power. Our military is neither the strongest nor the largest. We do not have the ability to send in a brigade of tanks to destroy a wall singlehandedly. In ATLANTIS, the UK does not have a General or Field Marshall; neither does Finland. In spite of this absence, neither of these countries is a laughing stock. They are active and valued members of the alliance. Despite what Augustus would have you believe, Canada is just as active and just as valued.

If we were not valued then Derakor would not have been a serious contender for the position of ATLANTIS Supreme Commander. Even after losing the vote, there have been requests for him to take on the title of Under Supreme Commander. ATLANTIS has military actions being planned right now. For one, Derakor has written the battle plan. That plan has been applauded by other countries. Another of the plans is being co-sponsored by Misho (Sweden) and me. That plan is also receiving the full support of ATLANTIS. Our opinions and input are valued. Our skills are recognized.

Augustus is embarrassed by our “total defeat” in France. He fails to mention that he was the primary force behind involving Canada in the conflict. He fails to mention that after initially capturing French territories the USA, UK, and Sweden have all been pushed back to the original borders. In fact, the UK even lost one of its territories in the conflict. Augustus conveniently overlooks these facts. Spain, the mighty Spain, has also lost the French territories that it had previously captured. None of these countries is considered a laughing stock despite suffering the same setback as Canada.

The story is no different in Argentina. Every member of ATLANTIS was involved in the Argentine conflict. We all were beaten in Argentina. We are now learning that part of that defeat was based on violations of the eR rules, but it does not change the fact that Canada is no more to blame than Spain or the US or Sweden or Norway. This was an alliance loss and we all share responsibility.

Augustus also tells us that the US has offered to launch a training war for our countries. He fails to explain the terms of the battle. Under the US proposal, we would allow the US to take over one of our territories then we could fight to get it back. I have made it very clear that Canada is not willing to give up one inch of our country in the hope of retaking it in a RW. Certainly, it sound reasonable, but what happens if the next US President decides that they want to keep the territory? What happens if PEACE sees this battle as the means of entering North America? Where will we get the fund to pay for a Resistance War to recapture our homeland (50 Gold minimum)? We trust and respect our neighbours to the South, but Canada belongs to Canadians!

Please, please, please, do not be sucked in by rhetoric and fear mongering. Our allies value Canada and the CAF. Our military continues to improve. Our resources are in demand by both allies and enemies. All of us should be proud of what we have accomplished so far. Our military will continue to get stronger. Our economy will continue to get stronger. Canada will continue to get stronger!
