Bridge the Divide
Department for Education
The Problem
There has been a lot of talk about the divide in the UK and how to fix is recently.
A quick overview is that the players in TUP-ESO-UKRP tend to work together and the players in UKPP-NE-1V tend to work together with PCP in the middle. These two sides find it very difficult to work together and you may have seen things getting heated.
The biggest point of contention is moderation of the UK Forums and IRC Channels. The TUP-ESO-UKRP group tends to have the people who own and moderate Forums and IRC, the UKPP-NE-OV group tends to have people who have been moderated on Forums and IRC.
One group talks about freedom of speech and corruption, the other talks about trouble makers and stupidity. Both sides have some good points.
This is having a big effect on the Ministry of Legislative Affairs because there is no middle ground for the two sides to have discussions. One side tend to live on the forums and wants all discussion to be there. One side tends to live in the game and needs all discussion to be here. Choose one of these places and you lose people from the other side.
The only way that one side can win is by destroying the other side and making them quit. That is 50% of the country gone and it is not what the UK needs.
The Solution
We need to make neutral ground for the two sides to talk and work together, only then can people start to make friends or at least develop professional respect for each other. You can not like someone personally but like their work for the UK.
1) There needs to be a total reset in relations. The conflict is spiralling out of control so we have to say "STOP", just like they did in real life South Africa and Northern Ireland.
We need to stop bringing up things which happened years ago, even if they still hurt.
2) There needs to be forgiveness. Things done in the heat of the moment or planned during the spiral down need to be wiped clean, again just like the real life conflicts.
We need to have all eRepublik related IRC and Forum warnings and bans removed.
3) There must be open discussion, evidence and reparation allowed on sanctions used against people. The spiral cannot be allowed to happen again.
We need every future IRC or Forum offense logged, explained and proven with a way open to make amends.
4) There has to be accountability and oversight in the system by the people. Ways to fairly appoint and remove people sitting in judgement on others. Who judges the judges?
We need a clear and fair way to appoint and remove moderators of IRC Channels and Forums.
This is what in my view needs to happen, please comment if you have any ideas.
What I don't want to see is one side being told that they are wrong or insulted. One side saying being told to stay away from the forums and elitists or the other being told to behave themselves and conform.
Everything has happened for a reason but each reason has another reason behind it back up that spiral to that forgotten first offense, we will never find it and you will never be right. So let's put it aside and work together now.
You need to be thinking "What can I compromise to gain 50% of the community" and not "How can I make them see that I am right?".

In other news I have appointed Sven Goran as vMoLA to open parallel discussion topics on the forums to accompany the in game messages and articles.
Well how about you, me, nick and other 'they' find objectionable retire from involvement in politics in return for Keers, Dan, Thomas, Alice, The Dark and other 'retrobates' from that side doing the same?
We let youth have its head, find their own way and we can continue our little fueds and disputes privatly between each other without 'infecting' the young with our hypocrisy, poison, brainwashing, populism (that really is a dumb slur btw), elitism, etcc, etcc bringing the whole tone down.
Alfagrem- I might not like you very much, and I'm sure the feeling is mutual, but you're not banned from the forums. Neither are the majority of the people involved. Goku is banned for repeatedly violating the rules over a number of years. He's been unbanned several times and has violated them again and again.
PS. In a recent interview the game devs even said themselves that anyone who just played the game with no external communication would be bored witless. Let's not pretend there is an
ingame community, what we have ingame is the minimal tools we need as a community to interact with the game, not a game itself.
It's Iain Keers!
eUK never changes, you can extend the olive branch, but it'll no doubt be ripped from your grasp and used to beat ya around the head with. eUK, never changes...

lol'd and 'tis absolutely true.
Dan Moir is almost completely at blame here. I won't rest till he's removed from his position as moderator in the forums and on IRC.

aaaaaannnnd we have the first rejection of said Olive branch...
....on this article only :/
Completly ignoring the Iain Keers post Bohemond?
This is the problem, some people only see bad stuff from the other side and turn a blind eye to their own.
Iain and Nick please at least try 😑
I consider that Iain is less inflammatory than Sir Nick, as he does not reject out of hand the idea of bridging the divide as you call it, nor does he have any power over the forums hence he cannot actually unban you. He is merely stating the forum mod line. and pointing out that ingame communication is limited and that the admins (game) have stated that they encourage, and expect, people top use external sites.
On the other hand, Nick says no negotiation until Dan is removed.
What negotiation do you see TUP doing?
Iain is basically saying that the forums are off limits and is he not a powerful voice in your party?
Both sides need to give something up and it's a shame to see both Nick and Iain sticking firmly to their sides.
Can you guys contribute instead of flame each other?

is the olive branch of an olive tree for getting olive oil or for producing eating olives ? It's quite a difference. Manzanilla variety and gordales are my preferred ones.
