BRA Terrorist Attack!

Day 766, 18:55 Published in France South Korea by Breton Boy

The recent fire in the Palais du Luxembourg was deemed today an act of terrorism after accelerants were discovered in the damaged rooms. The Breton Revolutionary Army has taken credit for the arson, claiming it was "a strike at a symbol of French oppression."

The fire was determined to have started in a trash can in a restroom after a lit cigarette was flicked into flammable contents in the trash can. Investigators have reported the trash can burned for a good ten minutes before any alarms were pulled. The fire was discovered by a member of the Palais du Luxembourg security. The unnamed guard threw a fire extinguisher at the inferno before running down the hall to pull the nearest alarm.

Although all senators have been reported unharmed, three civilians have suffered severe burns and are recovering in Ecole Hospitaliere d'eFrance. This contradicts an official statement from the government that the injured were recovering in France's finest hospital, supported by donations from Senators. When pressed, a senator claimed that "there was a misunderstanding and it is too late now to arrange for a transfer." He also stated that while there have been donations, they only apply to Charite and do not cover any expenses incurred at the Ecole.

When pressed for details on the fire, the BRA stated they did not ignite it. "We understand the French mind," the BRA representative explained, "We only needed to seed the building with petrol. They would ignite the fire for us and their timidness would keep them from stopping it. Their own building and the French fire fighters would only contain the fire. A Breton fire fighter would have valiantly done his service and ensured not only the safety of the building, but of the people." He then explained that there was a similar attempt on the Palais Bourbon but that a foreigner had been visiting. The BRA have stated that since the BNP can not run in elections due to oppressive and unfair rules relating to the size of said party's core membership, they shall step up their attacks and "Fight in the streets for Breton liberty".

The damages are estimated to be well over a million francs. The Palais will be closed for an indeterminate amount of time for repairs.
