Balance - The Value of Wellness
Korbin King
As a General Manager of three companies, I often visit the Human Resources pages to see what my competition is offering for wages. If the markets allow, I increase the salaries of my employees in order to retain skilled workers. Lately however, something has been bothering me that I've decided to share with some of the newer players in case they have overlooked the value of Wellness.
When you apply for a job based solely on the highest wage available, you may be hurting yourself in the long run if you fail to research the quality of the company. A high-quality company will deplete your wellness much faster than a low-quality company will. Each day that you work, you lose Wellness points equal to the quality level of the company that you work for. So, if you work for a Q3 company, you lose 3 Wellness points everyday that you work. Add the 1 Wellness point that you lose for training in the Army and you are dropping 4 points a day.
What this means is that in order to maintain a healthy citizen, you will need to either buy quality 4 food or supplement your food with gifts. Unfortunately, Thailand doesn't have much of a Gift market and high-quality Food tends to be very expensive. Overall, you end up keeping less of your income (and Wellness) at the end of the day AND your productivity goes down the tubes.
I recommend choosing a job based on "quality return", meaning that you should look at how much you are earning for each Wellness point that you lose. If one employer is offering $36 per day for a Q3 job ($12 per quality unit) and another is offering $30 for a Q2 job ($15 per quality unit), the Q2 job is a much better deal. Sure you are making $6 less per day, but you only need to replenish 2 Wellness points instead of 3. If you've noticed the price of food lately, you'll see the savings immediately.
Currently, I may look like a hypocrite for bringing this up since I am working for a Q4 company. However, I have chosen to do this in order to get a Defense System built as soon as possible. Once it's up, I will retreat to my Q1 Food company in order to regain my Wellness. Besides, the Defense System company doesn't pay well (being a government job), so it doesn't really pertain to this example.
Do yourself a favor. Research quality before you apply for a job. It will help you live a healthier eLife in the long run.

I seen OMG Magazine and looked down to see an apple. Needless to say I was disappointed a bit but the article got a vote.
Fear not! All good things in moderation. My next article (sometime tonight) will have the touch that you are looking for. I must admit that I typically use the hotties to help convey a message that has limited interest. An example would be one of my stock reports. I think this article is useful to the general (albeit newer)public, so I spent less time searching for a cute girl and settled on the somewhat relevant apple.
Unless they changed the wellness formula again, your wrong to a degree. At 50 wellness, Q4 food will keep you in the 45-55 range. However, if you have 100 wellness, you need Q5 food and a Q3 house, or some combination in there, to maintain 100 wellness. Its slightly less, but at 96 wellness, you only get a little more the half the quality back from food and housing.
Summed up, working a Q3 job plus training with max wellness requires a house and good food to maintain your 100 wellness.
Wow, I did not know that. I guess I'll have to review the formula in the wiki. I always thought it was straight one-for-one wellness from food. Thanks.

Theres the wiki page. Heres the forumla.
wellness increase = (1.5 - (current wellness/100)) * wellness bonus points
Bonus points is the addition of your houses quality and your food quality. So Q1 house and Q4 food is the same as Q5 food or a Q4 house and Q1 food. Food is always required.
Receiving a gift is still one-for-one wellness though right?
