Back in Action

Day 797, 15:48 Published in USA USA by Cody Franklin

Yes, eRepublik. BattalGazi is back. This moment of grace on the part of the administrators has brought their motives into question in the mind of many an EDEN supporter. I'd like to briefly address some of those concerns, being a patriot of both country and alliance myself.

1. Phoenix had the right to petition the admins.

Many EDEN players attribute the reinstatement of BattalGazi to, in colloquial terms, "PHX's bitching and whining". True though this may be, take a step back and think: if the likes of Jewitt, Josh Frost, or Woxan were banned due to "multi-accounting", I would bet you any amount of money that nearly every eAmerican would be up in arms over the situation. You cannot reasonably expect me to believe that, given similar circumstances, we would not have a similar reaction. Such uproar over the banning of an influential, powerful figure is naturally going to cause a lot of uproar, a fact reflected by the zeal with which Phoenix petitioned the admins to get Gazi's account reinstated - if you consider the implications of the admins' decision, you'll understand that it validates the right of Phoenix - or of any alliance, country or citizen - to petition the administrators, and at the point that you're denying that basic right, you're promoting hatred for hatred's sake. You're prioritizing bitterness and cynicism over the spirit of playing the game. We shouldn't be taking the game that seriously - God knows we don't want to end up like Konane.

"I hate yuo Battalgazi"

2. Gazi's reinstatement wasn't frivolous.

It would be naive to think that the admins reinstated Battalgazi just to placate Phoenix. Consider for a moment that he was accused of multi-accounting - had he been guilty, it is unlikely that the admins would have opened his account back up. I think it's important to accept that people can make mistakes, even those of such a high magnitude. We cannot let the joy of seeing an important enemy leader go down overshadow the logical possibility of a misunderstanding. The admins have dealt with plenty of multi-accounters, making it highly unlikely that they could be so easily duped. If they trusted him enough to give him his account back, I think that we're perfectly safe in dropping the issue and moving forward. No conspiracy theories, no angry letters, and no hateful accusations.

Ultimately, we just need to accept Gazi's return, stop complaining, and recognize him as a worthy adversary - we need to strategize, not criticize. I would assume that Gazi isn't wasting time telling stories about what happened, and I see no reason for us to be any different. So, please, enough bitching and whining 🙂 If you don't like it when Phoenix does it, how much worse do you suppose it is when we do it?

You can call me what you'd like - a sympathizer, a "traitor", or even an idiot. Whatever gets you lulz; I, however, prefer to think of myself as a patriot of my country, my alliance, and my world. Honestly, I think that my ability - as an American - to support the return of one of our greatest enemies is concrete, irrefutable, absolute proof of what I've been telling you for months: truth takes no sides.
