Baby Boom... Or Baby Bust!!

Day 784, 14:38 Published in Canada Canada by emilio sanchez

‘It’s time eCanada had a baby boom.’

I agree 100% with this statement, as do many Canadian citizens who have watched other nations who have gone from a low population rank; To being in the top ten and center stage. People everywhere being amazed at how some countries gained thousands of new players seemingly overnight. Everyone scratching their heads as to how they did it, or, more importantly, how can my country do the same.

It’s pretty clear how those countries gained so many new citizens. But we have to wonder, are we ready for a baby boom?

I remember along time ago, we had a small baby boom. Around this time actually. I also remember a big issue as well. Which was jobs. There were many complaints that there were no 0 skill jobs available, or that their health was dropping like a rock everyday only to learn that it was because companies that were high quality levels were hiring 0 skilled employees. Imagine a quality 3 company hiring a new player who only starts with 50 health to begin with.

- Health

The problem is that by the time they realized the health issue, their health is down in the low teens or twenty something. So it would cost a fortune to bring their wellness back up.

Which brings me to the health issue. Does the CHS or other Ministries/ Charities have enough funds to help most of the citizens that will inevitably fall into this issue. Imagine the country gets a couple thousand new citizens, and at least half fall into the low wellness category (yes we have mentors to help new citizens understand, but I will go over that in a bit.) So you have around 400 - 500 citizens of those who will stick around and not quit at seeing their wellness drop and get frustrated. Say those citizens are around 22 wellness. It would take 18 gifts to get them up to around 40 health which would allow them to fight and use a hospital.

Current gift prices are around 1.25 for a Q1 gift. So each citizen needs around 18 gifts x 500 citizens = 9000 CAD or more. Looking at the CHS which has under 1000 CAD, is not reassuring. Obviously they will not all ask for wellness at once, but over a period of time, more and more will be asking. Yes, the government can print money. But imagine all that money printing and what it will do. Other charities have even less gifts or CAD.

Even at a smaller number of new players, it will be strain on the budget, and citizens passing out all those gifts. Since you can only gift 10 wellness per day, it could up to 3 days to get a citizen back up to a good number. That’s a lot to keep track of.

- Companies

Looking at the job market right now there are only 8 companies hiring at 0 skill that are quality 1. The rest are quality 2 or higher. Each of those companies are only looking for a few employees for a total of less then 20 positions. There are a few hiring that are quality 2, even quality 3. Imagine a new player working at a Q3 company, and seeing their wellness drop.

Looking at the rest of the job market, and assuming that companies with skill requirements of 3 or more will not hire new citizens as they have low skill etc. There are less then 100 job positions available, and most of the companies I looked at, already have enough employees to be at max productivity with lots of products on the market. So even the jobs available now will be lost when GM’s can’t sell anything, and send more citizens looking for work.

So a boom of a few hundred at least, with only a little over 100 jobs (including jobs that have skills of 1 or 2.) There will be many who will leave since they can’t find employment. If they found a job, they may be fired when the GM sees they have only around 50 wellness, and 0 skill.

- Help

I imagine there are only but a handful of mentors available to help new citizens. If we expect a baby boom of a few hundred or more, that would mean each mentor would get around 20 - 30 citizens to help. That’s a lot of citizens to help, and only assuming a boom of 300 - 400 citizens. I doubt we would see a boom like Poland or other countries have seen, but if we did it would explode this problem.

You also have to remember a lot of these citizens may not ask for help until their wellness is already down in the teens. Which would be a strain on the CHS and other programs as well as the ministers running them.

- Steps that could be taken

One thing that needs to be understood is that GM’s who have high quality companies should not hire new citizens, or citizens with skill 0.

Those who are giving advice, should know what they are talking about and understand the game themselves.

Stock pile a lot of gifts to be given to the CHS, so it will not cost as much. There was a lot of gifts stocked, but I am not sure about that stock pile at this time.

Have more citizens willing to help newer players. As well, be able to go out and look for new citizens so they can help them before the new player comes for help. It’s better to help someone when their wellness is 48, rather then wait till their wellness is 15, and they ask for help.

There are other steps as well, but these are the main ones for now.

- Conclusion

If we want a baby boom, we have to be prepared for one. It’s not as simple as sending out ads to as many as you can, then let things happen. Otherwise most new players will just leave, and we will gain nothing from all the work at getting them to join in the first place.

As I said in the beginning, we had a small boom last January, even then programs and job offers were strained. If we want a big boom, then we need to prepare first
