Australia: The end of an era

Day 949, 05:08 Published in Australia Australia by patti11

Hey Australia,

Today, is the day we all knew was coming, but hoped it wouldn't. Australia has succumbed to PTO, to its long time enemy Indonesia.

I have played eRepublik for almost two years, and have to say it has continued to put me on an emotional roller coaster from winning my first presidential election to loosing Western Australia to a bugged battle. Both of these end spectrum of feelings, and those in between for that matter, can be said to have been generated from one country, Indonesia.

Indonesia, who in the history of the eWorld has gone from: enemy, to dear friend, to back to enemy. For many of us, on both countries, relish the chance to always get one up on each other. From zaney and isnuwardana (BETA giants and leaders) to current players the friendship and hatred we have had for each other is a driving force for us.

Why did it work? Because despite all the drama, there was always mutual respect between the nations.

Until now.

The PTO, organised by self proclaimed leaders of Indonesia's, basically ripped up the rule book. The blatant and open cheating was practiced and openly encouraged. For what? A so called boost to the economy with the impending "conquer" of Western Australia, Indonesia, all you hard work has payed off.

But like a child, only wanting something because you don't have it, you will quickly realise that once again, you will grow stagnant. While a PTO may give you pride, there is nothing like conquering a region, fair and square.

The effects of this PTO are already apparent. Australians are dropping off by the day (http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/goodbye-cruel-eworld1-1432959/1/20) and widdows9000 will probably be remembered as the last true President of eAustralia.

Indonesia, you will regret this decision, not because we want payback, but because your country will be worse off, mark my words.

The PTO, which is obviously illegal, will not be intervened in, due to the fact its:
A: the weekend.
B: those who can deal with it will try there best but will not have the support to deal with 400+ multies.

I guess Indonesia should be commended for this. They are probably the only country to openly exploit the rules because they simply know if the scale of their efforts are high enough, nothing will be done. To that, I say bravo.

For me, I will not be quitting eRepublik. I will continue to serve Australia into widds decides to give up the country, and after that I will move to an ally and a country that plays by the rules. I would like to leave the game on this note, the end of the Australian era, but I want to stay true to myself of quitting once I get all medals, so if any Indonesian is reading I need 3 more level 6's for a society builder and 500 something more subs 😉

Indonesia, enjoy our land. When V2 comes around you know you won't be able to run that war module 😉, enjoy your last months of eRepubliks.

I would like to extend a thank you to some Indonesian's who recognised the unwritten rules between us. You stayed in Indonesia, you had self respect.

I know there was more of you, consider this an extension to you.

To Australians: I know many of you will be leaving, but until then, spend your gold, have some fun. Take your anger out here http://www.erepublik.com/en/battles/show/10967 . After that, travel to South Africa or some other nation, or pay attention to the forums, were we may announce an official region of exile.
