As my first act in Congress, I've nominated Fionia for Speaker of House.

As my first act in the 30th US Congress, I've nominated Fionia to continue her role as Speaker of The House.

This isn't a popularity contest. This is a contest of capabilities. Fionia has proven she is capable of running an organized Senate, a very time consuming post.

I doubt that anyone could do better, though certainly many are equally capable.

A nomination simply places her name in a list of qualified candidates, from which Congress will choose it's next leader.

Fionia is qualified. She goes on that short list. And every nominee will be given the chance to decline the nomination before a vote takes place, if they wish.

UPDATE Day 919: Having received the necessary 5 endorsements to move to the vote, Fionia has declined the nomination. We all wish her a well deserved rest.
