Are the guns greener on the other side?
Nithraldur
Are they? You’d think so, because the CONGRESS APPROVED Q5 company, specifically intended to supply Irelands’s elite troops and tanks with adequate weaponry is taking some of it’s sweet time to be developed. Stay with me, this article contains more then an IDF commercial..
How long, you ask?
For those of you who haven’t been checking the Dail (you should check up on them, else they’ll just eat pizza and drink all day), the voting was closed on the 30th of January at 8.22 PM! This means that it’s taken them 6 days, nearly a week to simply transfer funds from 1 location to the other. Now, don’t take this as a form of criticism. I too don’t think that the people in our Dail are this inadequate for the position. No, what I suspect is that there are some officials with access to the right places that are willingly delaying the distribution of these funds. Willingly working against our government from the inside!
Who and why, you ask?
I won’t be calling out any names, but I just want the one(s) responsible to know, that I know too. As for the ‘why?’ part, well, if I were to be allowed to make a random jab at a probable hypothesis, I’d say that there is a duet of 2 disgruntled individuals that disapproved the proposal but didn’t get to persuade enough members of congress. The voting talley ended positive, the proposal passed. How can they still stop this than? Well there’s really only one way, and that’s having access to a government account that hoards Ireland’s gold and stop it from flowing.
What do these individuals have to gain from this move, ultimately? Surely they will be uncovered by someone? Well people, here’s where their ‘genius’ steps in… Again, if you’d allow me to make a small judgement call, I’d say they are hoping for someone – not Edana – to win the elections. Uhoh? What do you mean? Maybe, just maybe, they are hoping that the President will try and override the Dail vote?
Is this all constitutional? Is it RIGHT to willingly collaborate and oppose the Dail, even after a vote has succesfully passed? Well, in my opinion, no it most definately is not. Although, like I said before, this is just me making some educated assumptions, follow them, don’t follow them or go out and investigate for yourself, it doesn’t matter to me. All that I want to say is, why is Ireland against equipping it’s army? You wish war, you ache for deployments, you grasp for international involvement…..yet…you do not wish for your military to be able to do it’s job?
Let me stress this once more, the gentlemen(women) that you have elected to be the voices of the people in the Dail, have approved the arming of the Irish troops, yet it’s not getting executed. Ask yourselves…why….why? How is this possible and who is responsible? Keep in mind, everything I have just said, everything above this is a matter of personal opinion. They are not facts. They are, like I said, educated assumptions. Logical assumptions, with perhaps some insider information added to it (that some didn't want to get out). Intrigued? Go and find out for yourselves, please!
What are the consequences, you ask?
Those are simple. Ireland’s premier fighting group, the first line of defence, the men that everyone counts on to be there when it’s needed, the men that the citizens of Ireland call upon to do the damage that is so sorely needed…….will not be there to deal the damage. Ireland will not have it’s strongest warriors doing the damage that they can. Ireland will even be a greater pushover. Ireland will not become a player on the international scene. Ireland will not be able to convince youngsters to enlist that could possibly have become one of the greats one day.
I ask you, is this all worth it, in order for a handful of sour – minded individuals to get their way? Are they allowed to play around, when it concerns matters of national security? When it comes down to the defence of the nation? I’ll let you again, be the judge of that. I am merely an Officer of the Irish Defence Forces, an Officer that has to go to work tomorrow, telling his men and women, that they won’t be getting their weapons anytime soon. The suits are blocking us, lads. The suits that are supposed to be running the country, that we vowed to defend with our blood, are blocking us.
Guess how they will react?
Can you imagine?
You think you can.
You’re not even close.
Ireland, heed the call of your defenders, we are here for you. Are you here for us?

Na Fianna needs its Q5 weapons. Whoever is in charge of this please get it moving. I started this proposal a week ago and it was passed by the Dail on Jan. 30
Give the military what it needs !
I agree with you. If the Dail voted something, it should be enacted immediately.
But this entire article is almost one big straw man argument.
No Q5 weapons hardly means an inequipped army.
I wasn't talking about the entire army. I was talking about the people this country wants them to tank for them.
My main concern is why a Dail vote is not getting executed.
Cheers MC
Ah Nith, another ridiculous article full of rubbish again, it's becoming a habit, do you need to see a doctor?
We are on the eve of a total war-engine overhaul, meaning new weapons, new tactics and a massively different way of doing things.
We should wait until the changes are made public - then we can invest that same money on something that may be much better than Q5 weapons.
We should not spend such a huge amount of money on something that may be obsolete in a couple of weeks. If we play our cards right, our army could springboard ahead of everyone else and maybe get a region or two in the process!
I encourage you all to check out this forum topic:

A fair question deserves an answer do you not think. If we cant supply our own forces without certain people dragging their heels what chance do we have in succeeding in the future.
Again, mister Dubh, you are missing the entire point. Plus, if you doon't mind, I'd leave the childish namecalling where it belongs, it's hardly suiting for a wannabe President. People really are going to vote for someone who has no other defence but to insult someone speaking his mind? Well...well..
The fact that you are so easily agitated by this little piece should give away one of the identities of one of the persons responsible for the delay perhaps? I wonder...
On another note, when the proposal was being debated, when the proposal PASSED, none of the new information was available. Because of that it should have been immediately executed. You bringing in this recent info is completely irrelevant and an insufficient attempt at covering yourself up.
Don't let yourselves be fooled people, unmask them for what they really are. Don't be fooled, look past the sherade... That is all I ask.
The Dail passed the vote and so it is legally required to do it. If the Dail voted to wait and see about the new module then we would have done that.
1. Spending 400 gold then 200 a month on something that probably won't be useful is madness.
2. I understand you being surly because you wanted free Q5 weapons, but it's no reason to try and mislead the country into jumping into the dark with both feet.
3. Any Q5's we create now wouldnt influence a battle anyway - we dont have enough tanks for it to be worthwhile. So it definitely isn't as big an issue as you are making out.
4. Arguing that 'the new information we have now was not available then so it should have been executed' is a ridiculous argument. We have the information now, and for hell it's relevant. We have the information, lets make the best decision for the country.
Must I remind you that there is no legal limit on how quickly a proposal has to be implemented?
Anyway Nith, take your meds, and make sure your article has more pictures next time in case people actually read the content.
Another insult? Just keep stacking them Dubh, you can line up with your friend JJ (who'se logs have also been saved, yes, that's right). Seems like you guys are quite fond of the name - calling?
I'm sorry, but to me, your campaign has failed at the first insult.
Dubh appears to like to ignore the will of the dail
I didn't call you any names Nith. Anyone who read your 'candidate article' would understand that you are inactive and ignorant of most of what really goes on.
You are quite obviously incapable of seeing past your own needs and looking after the country itself.
As long as people like you are around, hard-working and patriotic people like me will always have campaign support.
And for the record gordongekko, the company can be implemented at a any time. I have a counter proposal up, but the dail can act as it wishes - and I am certainly not TELLING anyone not to implement it.
I am not ignoring the will of the dail. The proposal was already stalled due to the company/lease debate. I have just put up an alternative (better) option.
Meds? Doctor? Please, now you're even insulting my intelligence. Ooh, a counter proposal, a week after the original proposal has passed and should already have been executed? How convenient for you, strange..strange...I wonder..again 🙂
Just to clarify.... Nith is NOT inactive. He is CO of Na Fianna, constantly on IRC, always replies within 12->24 hours.
How is this at all convenient for me? I am not gaining anything out of this. In fact, if I said nothing and let you waste hundreds of gold on something usless - then I would get something out of it.
As soon as they announced the complete overhaul, I proposed that we wait and see how we can make oru army the strongest with the new changes. It's better for Ireland, not me.
You filled your article with incorrect insults directed at me Nith, I reserve the right to fire of a few silly ones back at you.
So now this article is aimed at you? I didn't disclose any name. I only assumed stuff, I even said so, educated assumptions. Now you come out all agressively, you even say now that it is aimed at you... Is this a confession?
If so, call off the investigators, this one was easier than expected..
Oh Sean, thanks for that 🙂 I didn't even feel the need to prove him wrong on that one. Sometimes the illusion serves one better than the actual element, eh.
Are you mad? What is wrong with you?
"You filled your article with incorrect insults directed at me Nith, I reserve the right to fire of a few silly ones back at you."
I was refering to your candidate article which spend a few hundred words purely slandering me, with no basic in fact and an amazing amount of bias.

@dubth it was f'ing voted so no matter what u think the company has to be made. Not a good start dubh are u going to be a dictator ?
Someone is a little angry 🙂
Dubh who cares that there is a ongoing discussion in the Dail ? That is irrelevant. If you got something passed and I started a discussion on changing your proposal wouldnt you still enact your proposal ? It has been legally voted .
Why are you arguing against this article ?
I am not stopping the company from being made. I have never asked anyone to stop the company being made.
Because people are still arguing on whether it should be a company or lease, I have had the time to propose a much better option.
Whether the dail accepts that option or not, or if it decides to MAKE the Q5 be implemented, is up to it.
I am not the bad guy here, I am just the only one who has seen that the IDF might be made even better with that money once the new war engine is there.
I have done nothing illegal, I have done nothing to prevent anything being implemented. Sorry to disappoint.
Sigh, right, although this is pointless, I will only rectify a few points that are just blatant b***c***, since I cba with the others.
I wanted free Q5's? Just to prove how wrong you are on that one, not a single one will be used by me.
Not enough tanks? Of course not, why would we? Why would they stay? There's no point, we have no tanks because we don't have the weapons.
The new information is very much irrelevant. A dail vote passed at the time being, and should have been executed at the time being.
If the company can be implemented at any time, why is it taking a week already and still I see no movement?
I will now cease to dignify you with a sensible response. It's too late in the evening for me to squander precious time away on this. The people have the chance to read it, the people have the chance to draw their own conclusion, the people have the chance to become the critic. I hope democracy prevails.
"The people have the chance to read it, the people have the chance to draw their own conclusion, the people have the chance to become the critic. I hope democracy prevails."
Amen to that Nith.
Clann na nGael takes this information to heart, we will support our Field Marshall's, we will support every gosh darn thing that bothers them, we will not run from a strong military!
I encourage everyone to check out this topic: http://ieforums.hobbittown.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=1658" target="_blank">http://ieforums.hobbittown.com/default.a[..]=1658
Dubh, you're lettin yourself down here.
And to 'whoever' is delaying proceedings, the proposal should be implemented as soon as convenient and practical. Stop messin around.
Plus, do you really think Q5 weapons companies are going to be made redundant? Don't be a fool.
It's this sit-on-our-hands attitude that has Ireland where it is...
How am I letting myself down? The only thing i've done is proposed an alternative, based on new and vital information.
Heres a scenario:
1. You are at war. You have to attack a critical location in that country. You think it is undefended.
2. Just before you attack, you receive vital information that that location has massive defenses, making the success and point behind the attack questionable.
3. Do you continue to attack that town because that was the agreed plan OR do you wait to see what type of defense is there, and then plan to overcome it?
Q5 companies may not be made redundant, but we do not know that it would be the best option for our money.
I am not holding anything up, I am not letting myself down, I am just suggesting the wisest option. It's amazing the kind of support that Nith's rubbish is getting.
Give it up Dubh
was that it?
Give what up Patton? I'm not doing anything 🙁
The better option is there. The Dáil can take it or leave it. That's all i've said from the start.
I understand that you and Nith have loyalty to Edana, hence all this slander against me. I just hope it doesn't get in the way pf what is best for the country.
OK Now... I rarely speak out - but I'm laughing so much at the ego that has obviously been bruised here. Dubh - you will never have my vote in any office. Quite frankly, you are irrational and self-serving.
Nith - Thank you.
As a member IDF - anyone who states we are well-equipped hasn't served. I was stranded in a country without guns, or even the promised moving-ticket home. I turn over my money expecting at the minimum a way home, but guns - Hey "What a Concept"... BUILD THE Q5 ARMOURY AS VOTED. I'd like to quit repacking my gun with used ammo scraping & sifting gunpowder from the dirt to reload.
I have done nothing wrong. If that is what you feel then I am sorry you feel that way. Please read up, and I hope you change your mind.
Thank you for the article Nith. I knew things were being held up but I'm sure this will be an eye opener to others who were not keeping track of the discussions.
Finally, some deployment, but no weapons to help to do any damage...cheers Dubh!
Excellentt article captures my frustration, but the pictures make me feel better.
The comments they tell their own story. Its pretty clear what most people want, and who doesn't want it.
I'd like to see an investigation into who caused the delay, DUbh says it wasn't him, I don't think he could do it, so who was it and why?
Ok, Nith I took this personally. Let's get this out in the open. There has been no delay, only some slight confusion and a lack of offers. Everyone please read here:
http://ieforums.hobbittown.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=1555&p=6" target="_blank">http://ieforums.hobbittown.com/default.a[..]p;p=6
Sigh >.> it wasn't a counter attack against the Q5 Weapon Company he opened up an option and didn't even MENTION to stop the Q5 weapon Company he brought in a disussion an new option that if the Dáil agrees to take it or not and to be honest I don't think we should spend anything on weapons yet till the New modules come if you look at Beta everything changed when it moved into V1 so I do no want us to be like ''Oh cr*p we shouldn't had done this!'' so I would be in favour of taking things slowly.
Appleman, its taken a while to implement. I see why now, but still 7 days for something alot of people viewed urgent. A key requirement for successful excitement.
People (TD's especially) still have a right to be angry about the opportunistic proposal to delay it until the new version was implemented, by those who opposed it all along.

tl;dr version:
I'm not getting my Q5 guns waa waa waa.
@Red Dragon
I wouldn't hold my breath for those weapons! Apparently it's only the tanks "Field Marshals" which would get any of the Q5 weapons when/if we decide to get them at all.
@Everyone else
Ireland is a small country with little resources in a fast changing game. If war is expected to undergo a sizable change then we MUST and I mean MUST reconsider going for a Q5 weapons company. Don't get me wrong Inaction is dangerous! Inaction is what I gave out about in my last article, but when Ireland decides to make a decision as important to the country as this then we must ensure that it is the right decision. With the long term future in mind, because Ireland does not get to make many decisions.
IMO the most likely change to the War engine that the admins will make would be the parts that are being abused.
I figure that tanking is something they would like to stop as it is unrealistic. They'll probably reduce the maximum amounts of fights one can make to 10. That's my honest opinion and that's what i'd change.
In case anyone was wondering, that would render our Q5 weapons company practically useless.
http://tinyurl.com/yfroq57" target="_blank">http://tinyurl.com/yfroq57
Here is a kind of follow on article from this discussion
It also includes the miracle of Edanas 2nd presidency
@ Connell..... The admins make money from people buying gold for wellness packs to "tank" themselves and get a battlehero medal. I seriously doubt they will reduce the number of fights a soldier can make in a 24 hour period.
Even if the admins did idiotically destroy one of their main streams of revenue.... that wouldn't render our q5 weapons company useless. If they did nerf q5 weapons that much then they'll have a rebellion on their hands..... just look at players reactions to minor changes.
The q5 weapon company will be customisable when the transition to V2 occurs in (my estimation) 3 months. q5 companies will still produce the most damaging weapons... it'll be a matter of balancing the damage, happiness and wellness aspects when we've got a clearer picture of the new game mechanics.
Why a state owned Q5 in the first place?
Just buy on the market....its cheaper
lm*ao
Even all these days later, when I notice this article, I smell a familiar stink.
Nothing ever changes, huh?
Fair play to ye Nith.
Dub, same ol' same ol'
Armchair Dictator with a super-ego holding purse-strings way too tight for a democracy. Again.
Hilarious, if it wasn't so f****ing sad.
