Ansen Running for Re-Election as UIP President

Day 540, 13:44 Published in USA USA by Ansen
I'd like to make official my intentions to run for re-election as Party President of the United Independents. Below, I will recap what's been accomplished over my past term, and also talk about what my goals for the party would be throughout the rest of May and on into June if I am re-elected.

=== Accomplishments During April / May ===

This last month as been record-setting for the party in almost every way. First off, we actually filled out the UIP cabinet positions, something that (embarrassingly) we hadn't been able to accomplish for several terms. Then we started off the election season with a bang, electing eleven UIP members into the halls of congress - the second most of any party in the country, despite being only the fifth largest in overall membership at the time. This was the largest number of congressional seats held by the UIP in the history of our party.

After the congressional elections, we got to work revamping several key areas of the party. First off, the party forums were reorganized, with UIP cabinet members getting moderator status over the boards concerning their area of responsibility. In conjunction, the UIP Communications Team sent out PM's to every member of the party, encouraging people to get on the forums and become more involved in the party's activities. The strategy has worked, as forum activity has gone up significantly in recent weeks.

Additionally, the party debated and worked through a new written "Party Ideology" that is now featured on the revamped UIP wiki page. We now have an up-to-date, comprehensive recruiting tool for the party. Also, the UIP Bulletin (the party newspaper) got back underway, releasing articles on a variety of UIP topics. This has helped the UIP to be more publicly visible. The UIP has finally taken steps to make clear what it is we stand for, rather than being known as the party that doesn't stand for anything.

I ran my previous campaign under the cry, "Quality over Quanitity," but ironically, growth in membership has been one of the big accomplishments of this term. We've worked to increase and subsequently promote the overall quality of every aspect of our party, and one byproduct of this has been an insanely high number of new members. When I took over the Party President position, we were about fifty members behind the 4th largest party, and we're now thirty members ahead. It's important to note that that's not just a gain of eighty members either - all the parties in front of us have been growing as well. But the best part about these younger members is not that there's a bunch of them - it's that they're joining in on our forum discussions and already making an impact on the party.

=== Goals For May / June ===

While we've experienced a lot of success over the last month, it would be a mistake to sit back, relax, and not strive for even more. We need to continue to take advantage of the sterling reputation of our congressional representatives and support another great congressional election for the UIP. We've proven that many of our candidates can achieve bi-partisan support, and that was the key to our success last term. We can match, if not improve upon last election's results.

Continuing on the subject of political elections, we will work together as a party to come up with a fair and efficient system of determing how we will dole out the party's endorsement for the presidential elections. We had some hiccups along the way this election, something that just can't happen when we're dealing with such an important decision.

While we've seen an increase in the percentage of UIP members being active in the party, we're still not where we could be. We've gotten an incredible turnout for the UIP Communications Team, and we need to take advantage of it to get in touch with our membership and ensure that all members of the party are given the opportunity to make and impact and thrive.

We'll continue to take steps to grow our party programs. While it has taken some time for things like the Mentor Program and Wellness Programs to get off of the ground, we're slowly beginning to see some increased interest. Making the high level of activity in our programs a selling point for the partywill be a major goal of my administration next term.

=== Conclusion ===

I've greatly enjoyed my first term as President of the UIP, and I think my administration skills are well suited for the job. I feel that I have more to give, and I ask all UIP members to consider allowing me the privilege of serving you for another term.

Finally, I have to thank all of the members of our great party - the ones who are truly behind the success we're experiencing. Joshua Hoss, Knojerakk, NeilP99, Blake Chrysostom, Ssomo, and StygianSteel are just a few of the many people who have taken it upon themselves to make the UIP what it is.

Let's keep this good thing going!
