Another year nears it's end, a look at Friendships in eRepublik

Day 1,123, 14:14 Published in Canada Canada by Goran Thrax

It's a shame really, to feel like an old player of this game. I've played for about a year and a half and yet so many of the people who were playing when I joined have left the game.

And yet, friendships persevere.

This is such a social game, that friendships form with such a strength that they transcend the boundaries of this game alone.. I hope I'm not the only player who has experienced that. This year has been a big one for friendships, many players may not know this but a dozen eRepublik players here in Canada actually got together for supper in Toronto last summer. Meeting the people, behind characters like TemujinBC, Jacobi, Acacia Mason and others was a novel and game changing experience. Regardless of events that have occurred since, even with some of the players who went to that meeting having left the game or fallen back to two-clicking the friendships remain.

I got the idea for this article, from Kelly Mahoney. The older crowd knows Kelly, she's been pretty quiet in the game the last few months but nonetheless she's around and I hope she reads this. For you see, Kelly Mahoney, a wonderful young woman with whom I talk often, yet have never met sent me snail-mail today. Not simply a card, no I received a package containing homemade Christmas cookies, herbal tea (of which I'm quite fond) and a lovely Christmas ornament! The cookies are sweet, yet not as sweet as the sentiment behind them!

Kelly Mahoney, Thank you very much for the thoughtful Christmas gift, and while Canada Post abused your cookies, they are still delicious for the rough treatment they suffered. Kelly, thank you as well for organizing that meet in the summer, I know you couldn't attend but your hard work made for a great night for those of us who attended.

With Christmas just around the corner I wanted to take this moment to let my many eRepublik friends know how much they mean to me, and that I hope they all have a great holiday!

I hope everyone reading this, takes a moment to think of their friends in eRepublik, it's our friends that make this game worth playing and keeps our community strong.

Thank you,
