Another End to Killswitch
Killswitch
Hello eCanada,
As you may or may not have known, I have been away for a while doing RL volunteer work in Africa. I put my whole eLife on hold when I was there, waiting till I returned to start it back up again. As I arrived back in Canada on Monday, August 1st, I learned that my longtime RL girlfriend has been hospitalized with severe manic depression. Until things start looking better, or maybe when I can get some sleep without worrying about her taking her own life or not, I will not be playing eRepublik. I am a total wreck. I don't know what to do.
If any other players have experienced manic depression, bi-polar disorder, or suicide in real life, could you please contact me? I don't want to bring this up with my RL friends because her family is trying to keep this quite, at least for now...
So yeah, hit me up quickly if you can help. I know looking for advice on eRepublik is not the best place, but I've learned all I can from Google so far, and there's a lot of intelligent people playing this game so maybe someone knows a thing or two about it?

I'm sure Google is enough, definetly better than the eCanadian community.

😁 Prime example of what Funky is saying.
Google: you're doing it wrong.
Find the student counseling services at a local college or university and give them a call. Tell them what you're dealing with and ask if you can come in get advice. Don't tell them whether you're a student unless they ask (they probably won't). If they can't help you without a student ID, they must give you a referral to someone who can help.
If they are useless, call 1-800-232-7288.
Good luck.
Killswitch, I would have pm'ed you but then it occurred to me that these links may be helpful to someone else as well so...
This first link is to the Canadian Mental Health Association. It is by far the best organized, most comprehensive Canadian site and is recognized as such by the Canadian Medical Association.

It is very easy to navigate but, just to speed things up, I'll direct you to the following link, which you can use to locate all recognized available resources / programs in your local area.
Simply click your home province on the map, and you'll be presented with many choices, locations, all of which you can contact using several methods. Most have their own web sites as well.
