Another election mess

Day 868, 10:12 Published in Thailand Thailand by Jimmy_Miller

Another month, another President impeachment began within 24hrs. The president of a nation needs to be active, involved in the running of a country and available to discuss issues with others, however month after month a total unknown seeking a medal and their group of friends seem to outvote the sensible candidates.

I fully support a democratic system and giving each president their chance, however the order of events needs to be to introduce yourself to our community, discuss issues in our forum and on the irc, express why you are running for President, seek election and if you are elected do your best for the country.

This is not the first PTO we have had in Thailand, this is not the first time that somebody has used us just to obtain the presidency medal with no intention of doing any work to enhance our country, stripping that privilege from somebody who puts in a lot of hard work for the month after the necessary impeachment.

This month’s election is of great annoyance to me because for the first time in a while, 2 individuals in 2 different Parties, both of whom we know to have good intentions wanted to run for president, they are Gates Schellinger and Albert Neurath. Scared of splitting the votes Gates graciously backed down on the roll of a dice. However with the impeachment being required anyway, was this really beneficial?

For Thailand to prosper we need a democratic choice, holding primary’s suggests fear in defeat and in this instance did not prove beneficial anyway. If candidates from several parties wish to run next month, I support them all running, having a true election, and if the invasion from 1 party occurs, seeking nothing more than a presidential medal – then we are no worse off than we are this month.
