Another Day at the Office

So we all woke this morning (depending on what time zone you're in), and find that KIA will be President (although that's an assumption since I havent seen the final word from admin in the Insider, which I usually wait for). Congratulations to KIA on his victory, as we'll be seeing plenty of each other in the coming term.
Now, it's time for the rest of us to get back to work. When I took the Party Presidency, I said I wouldnt campaign for votes, and I didnt. There were still plenty of people that thought I was the right choice, and I thank those people, but ultimately KIA was found to be the better choice, which is a conclusion that I can be thankful for, understand, and respect.
What I feel you'll find is that the "other" parties in the UK (parties not named PCP) have strengthened themselves over the last term, and can now compete toe to toe with what has been the dominating party over the last two months, and we'll all be much more active in Congress, and in Minister Positions. I know I have two proposals that are sitting on my table to be sent in (one to amend the apprenticeship scheme to make it more inclusive and the other to make Commons transparent), which will be the first official act I have as a Congressman (since technically I had to promise not to post for the past few days).
As for the future, as I have said within my own party, unless we run into a similar situation (which I dont see happening), I will not be standing for elections. I foresee Katie returning in the next few days with a vengeance (although she plans on trying to recover what's happened in Liverpool), Rayf will be gaining experience not only in Congress but in other areas (hopefully an apprenticeship somewhere), and maybe someone else will throw their hat in the ring.
All in all, it has been fun over the last few days. You can't say the forum activity hasnt picked up, and the political scene just got a bit murkier in the true equality our Government should now contain. I guess we'll now simply have to wait and see who's actually appointed to see if the approach has changed any.
So, see you in Commons. If you're in the UKRP, I'm sure all 12 of us will go for pints afterwards.

I\'m definitely interested in an Apprenticeship. Just haven\'t decided where I\'d like to apply.
But yes, it\'s definitely time to get to work. I just hope the energy and drive people brought into this election doesn\'t fade, but instead carries into staying active and driven in politics. The country needs that kind of activity and energy.
Sweet... Can we take a trip over to Ireland for some good ol Guinness?
We\'ll have FD import it to us 😉
...If that\'s not a \"food\" company in Ireland already, it needs to be.
And we should give it a special import rate in a TA.
It\'s great to see some competition for PCP, after KIA won his second election we were worried that the country would be our stomping ground and that with no political opposition we would grow complacement.
I have to say though, and I think I represent the party\'s views here, that we relish a challenge and now we\'ve got one we\'ll step up to the plate?
It was a close run thing this time - not helped by the rapid churn through Party Presidents just prior to the election - and still the final vote went to the wire!
With (hopefully) a period of stability and consolidation, with the focus on building a solid team we should be in good stead to do very well in the next election.
I am always read for a quick pint or two after a hard day in the House of Commons!
