"The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD" Release Inspires Huge Wii U Sales Boost

Things haven't been too hot for Nintendo's Wii U since its launch, but recent months have seen an increase at last, coinciding with the release of big games like The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD and the price drop on September 20.

It wasn't just a little leap, either. Wii U sales in September jumped over 200% more than the previous month. This makes for a marked improvement over the period between April and July, which saw the poor console moving a meager 160,000 units.

Outside of North America, Wii U also saw a major increase in the UK following the release of Wind Waker HD. Link's high-def adventure managed to inspire a 685% increase in weekly Wii U sales over there.

Nintendo still has a lot of catching up to do, so we'll have to see how Wii U performs as we approach the holiday season. Hopefully games like Super Mario 3D World and Wii Sports Club help move things along at an even brisker pace.

As for 3DS, well, it's still killin' it on the charts, so Nintendo's doing just fine in the portable department.

Roll Your Own Choco Cornet

Kracie's latest innovation in junk food is a choco cornet kit. Introduced this fall, the 1,680yen item allows Lucky Star fans and kids with a decent amount of manual dexerity to create the pastry favored by a certain blue-haired otaku.

Anime Short Produced To Introduce Joint JAXA/NASA Space Mission

For those of you who are Space Brothers fans, the organization may be familiar and the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency or JAXA has decided to use an original anime clip to introduce and explain its joint GPM Mission with NASA. Japanese animation house White Fox created the short with Iwahata Gouichi as producer and Ikegami Tarou (Jormungand, The Devil Is A Part-timer!) as animation director.

The storyline is kept at a minimum, and with the staff involved, this could turn into an OVA if there is demand for one. The GPM-DPR official site has an interview with photos of the cast posted.
