Nintendo Claiming Ad Revenue for YouTube Game Videos

Nintendo is claiming ad revenue generated from video content featuring its games on the streaming service YouTube. The company is not looking to block the videos, but instead place ads around them that would generate revenue for the company instead of the videos' posters.

The videos would include those uploaded by Let's Players (LPers), individuals who upload their personal game playthroughs.

Nintendo offered the following statement:

As part of our on-going push to ensure Nintendo content is shared across social media channels in an appropriate and safe way, we became a YouTube partner and as such in February 2013 we registered our copyright content in the YouTube database. For most fan videos this will not result in any changes, however, for those videos featuring Nintendo-owned content, such as images or audio of a certain length, adverts will now appear at the beginning, next to or at the end of the clips. We continually want our fans to enjoy sharing Nintendo content on YouTube, and that is why, unlike other entertainment companies, we have chosen not to block people using our intellectual property.

Lupin III vs. Detective Conan The Movie Previews Streamed

Crossover film to open in theaters in Japan in December

Two special videos for December's Lupin III vs. Detective Conan The Movie began streaming on the movie's official website on Saturday. The "Conan Version" was shown in theaters while the "Lupin Version" aired on television.

Shogakukan's Shonen Sunday magazine revealed last month that a Lupin III vs. Detective Conan The Movie film will open in Japan in December, more than four years after Lupin III vs. Detective Conan television special aired on NTV in 2009. The special earned a 19.5% rating.

More details about the upcoming film will be revealed in future issues of Shonen Sunday.

Hitsugime no Chaika getting an anime adaptation

What happens when somebody who is really lazy meets a beautiful girl carrying a coffin? Light Novel series Hitsugime no Chaika (Coffin Princess Chaika) is announced to have an anime adaptation. The light novel’s author, Sakaki Ichirou said that he will make the announcement in the September issue of Dragon Magazine which will go on sale July 20. No further announcements have been made.

Hitsugame no Chaika is about Acura Toru, a very lazy guy; just him being outside their house is a rarity in itself. One day, his sister Akari forces him to go outside and look for a job. When he is outside in the forest, he meets Chaika, a mysterious silver-haired girl carrying a coffin. Suddenly, both of them get attacked by a monster that looks like an ugly version of the unicorn. Now, he is suddenly pulled into her very dangerous world of feira, assassins and all sorts of trouble.

Hitsugane Chaika is a light novel series by Sakaki Ichirou who is also the original author of Scrapped Princess. The artwork for the novel is done by Ookuma Nekosuke. The light novel series is published in Fantasia Bunko and is currently in Volume 6. The series has been running since October 2010. The series also has a manga adaptation which is also written by Sakaki Ichirou and drawn by Sakayama Shinta. The manga is serialized monthly in Shonen Ace.

Haganai Live Action: Actors revealed

Despite the desperate cries from fans to cancel the live action adaptation of beloved light novel and anime Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai (Haganai), the filming rolls on. For better or worse it seems filming has been going smoothly and they’ve already selected actors for the film.

Maybe the film shouldn’t be written off by fans quite yet though since it looks as if it will be graced with some talented actors.

According to a guy who was able to snap some photos of what seems to be filming for Haganai has determined that, Kitano Kie, Nagareboshi, will be taking the role of Mikadzuki Yozora and Koji Seto, Koizora and lead vocalist for J-rock band Tetra-Fang, will be taking the lead as main character Hasegawa Kodaka.





For those unfamiliar with the original material, the original light novel and anime centers around Hasegawa Kodaka who finds it hard to make friends with his natural yellow and black hair and frightening face that makes him look like a delinquent effectively scaring away anyone who tries to interact with him.

One day he stumbles upon a fellow classmate talking to herself in an empty classroom. She claims that she was talking to her air friend but eventually admits that she also has no friends. Both aiming to become people who can actually make friends, they join together in order to form the Neighbors club for that purpose.
