This article will be my official goodbye to eRep. I'm not leaving because we lost NJ and might lose FL...in fact, I think it'll be really interesting to see how things play out once PEACE doesn't have any more enemies to conquer, and we're already seeing rifts in the alliance (e.g., Indo tanks fighting for the US).

No, the reason I'm leaving is because of HR's article (coupled with Benn's article). I don't want to be a part of any game where cheating (in Benn/Sam's case) or corruption (in HR's case) is so rampant. It's impossible to know if we're losing in a fair fight because both sides exploit the system as much as possible. I'm a U.S. government auditor in RL, so I know a thing or two about fraud/waste/abuse. Seeing this kind of crap in a computer game isn't exactly the kind of pick-me-up I'm looking for when I get home from work. Not to mention that my wife thinks this game is stupid...but I won't go THAT far. 🙂

I donated all my e-worldly belongings to Jack Flufferton (a stand-up guy and a loyal Marine), so please don't PM me asking for a handout. To all the people who play by the rules and aren't total douchebags, best of luck!

Before a bunch of comments appear saying, "lighten up, this is just a game" - can I ask when it became OK to cheat at games?

HR's revelations and the public response to them are as troubling for RL as they are for erep...

You're probably just a visible trickle before the flood leaving. The game has been exposed as a joke, frankly, and that's the best take on it. It is in no way any kind of "simulation". It feels like we're beta testing the thing, and that's being generous. Good luck.
