An Observer's 2 Cents

Since my shout box has been filled with Rolo... even though Rolo is no where on my friends list. I thought it's time to add yet another viewpoint on the whole eCanada, Rolo pardon issue. (Since I have not really anything better to be doing.)
So a summary of the events so far. Rolo is pardoned by a vote of 16-15, the slimmest majority, a fact that is often omitted to make it sound like all of congress was wholeheartedly in favour of the pardon. I was a congressmember during this vote, for the record as well as reference for the rest of the article I voted NO on the pardon. Reason being... well look outside and examine the mess we have.
Now we have our oldest (the old part is very important by the way) and most recognized eCanadians packing their bags left, right and centre to get out of dodge. Some have even so kindly taken it upon themselves to fight against their previous country. For what though?;
In protest of the pardon?
Against the presidents actions?
Against Rolo?
or to just say "We told you so" and "We're right/just"?
or perhaps just a little to much alcohol and having a little fun 😉
You never know.
So where does this leave us? You remember how I said all the old eCanadians are leaving. That is a key point that I haven't seen brought up yet. This whole Rolo issue is fairly old (2 years or so?), so that leaves you with a whole generation of new players who only hear of Rolo's exploits through the grapevine. I for one am one of those players (cracking 1 year in 3 days). I'm aware of his exploits, what he has done, what he currently does but that's second hand knowledge. So for these newer eCanadians who is the enemy? The e😜
ats fighting against us or Rolo who is watching from the sidelines? I have a feeling it's the former.
As for our president's situation, he is in what I would call, a lose/lose scenario. In that no matter what action he takes it will be 'wrong'. For example holding a referendum, letting the people vote. "Oh that's just pushing the responsibility onto others." Well, apparently congress is inept so I don't see why one would complain about being able to vote on the issue themselves. Unless of course it may be possible that the silent majority actually wouldn't mind/care seeing Rolo pardoned, a shock, I know. On the flip side, if he veto's Rolo pardon himself without the input of the nation. How would he be seen then? My guess is, a weak leader, giving into e😜
ats, disregarding congress etc.
As the situation now is, if a referendum is held to veto Rolo's pardon, based on the actions of those who have left eCanada I would actually let Rolo's pardon stand if only out of spite for the, what I view, as immature actions of those fighting against us. Nice job breaking it hero.
When one leaves a country they lose their right to influence that country. (Moving for resource bonuses to improve the country eg. MU leaders, notwithstanding.) As when you try you are a coward and a hypocrite, it is why when Rylde launched his Purge eCanada campaign last summer I saw it as a valid act of rebellion against the government. He had a reason, a goal, and a conclusion. As well as by staying in the country he reaped what he himself sowed. What I see with the current people fighting against eCanada is a reason, a loosely knitted goal and a non-existent conclusion for what they will do when the dust has settled. The best part for those fighting against eCanada is that they can claim to be doing us a favour or to be just but not have to face any of the consequences since they've jumped to another country \o/.
The amount of old players is limited while the number of new players is limited. Whether one wants it or not change is inevitable. Though who will shape this country is still up in the air.
To all who have an issue with the system and current affairs, work to fix it not to break it. Unless of course you plan to rebuild everything you break.

So because a few people have decided to go off and fight against eCanada, the concerns and desires of all the rest who are opposed to Rolo should be considered invalid? I chose to vote with inaction, quitting my roles within the government, but I remain in this country. Why does the actions of a few I have no control over invalidate my beliefs?
We are all responsible for our own actions, which at the end of the day is what this is all about. Rolo being held responsible for his actions, those who support his actions being held for that support, and those who are now fighting against eCanada being held responsible for those actions.
I think they are wrong for doing it and are only hurting their cause, but I can understand the desire. That, for the record is different to agreeing with them.
The old/new distinction is very important. It was so in the past, during the SdeC debacle. It is was when Jacobi was elected the first time. It was during Citizen B's haydays. It helps to understand quite a bit including voting patterns and influence.
Just remember, "Free TemujinBC!" started it all.
Etemenanki, if that is the case, then it is worth revisiting the reasons behind Tem's actions that lead up to everything:
http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/temujinbc-finds-spiritual-efreedom-1299092/1/20
To quote specifically:
"First, it was done for Teh LulZ.
Secondly, it was done to re-kindle the notoriety of The Crimson Order (specifically the Crimson Canucks). For a long time we were known as the black sheep of Canada. We ... I wanted that to return for us.
Finally (and most importantly), it was done to give Canadians something to do... I wanted something different. I wanted to shake things up without really causing any damage. And I wanted to be at the center of it."
Some of those reasons do still resonate now even though the event and persons involved have changed. "The center of it" must be a much coveted spot.
There's the hard-way up that mountain...or there are the infamous short-cuts that lead to perilous avalanches on all those steadily plodding up behind on the high road up old Vainglory.
The dawn of an active eCanada again perhaps?
Nice article. Well reasoned.
I wonder if there is any way to find out how many of the still eCanadian citizens were citizens at the time of the offence. Not that it should be determinative of what might happen, but I would like to know how many "still aggrieved" persons there may be. I also recognize this would include Rolo supporters so thereis really no way to count how many seditionists there may be. The persons who attacked us are not seditionists. They are terrorists.
What it would say is that they have had all this time to get past it and for all their principles and good intentions they haven't shown the capacity to actually do anything about it to the point where everyone would be satisfied.
It also clearly says that the issue is very deep in the hearts and minds of some who should be/have been using their efforts to campaign and convince new players about matters rather than just shout and yell and be bullies because they haven't gotten their way.
This isn't overtime and it shouldn't be a shootout. The buzzer went and they lost the game.
Now let's start a new season.
I am trying to fix it and bring the exiles home. The current policy is confused to say the least. We need OLD and NEW players in a community.
