An Interview with Arthur Wellesley

Day 521, 21:15 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by UKRP Headquarters
The men and women behind the oldest party in the eUK

Who are the faceless people running the UKRP, the oldest and largest party in the United Kingdom? Manifestos are published, promises made, achievements listed - yet very little we know about the great figures themselves. This article begins a series of interviews in which we interview some of the main figures in the UK Reform Party - down from the presidential candidates to people who prefer to work behind the scenes. We shall begin our interviews with a man in the spotlight, an icon to the events of the PP elections of April 2009: Arthur Wellesley.

Arthur Wellesley, a respected congressman and active party member in the UK Reform. Arthur made into headlines earlier this month when he decided to run for party president. After the events around elections and the disappearance of Marcus Antonius Varias, Arthur was chosen as the acting party president of the UK Reform Party. As the UKRP was nothing short of revolutionised under his command, he may have a special perspective into events that reformed the largest political factor in the UK.

Before we go into specific questions about events around PP elections, we'd like to give you a chance to introduce yourself to the reader. To not to be too pervasive, perhaps you'd like to freely tell what you do in your real life?

- What do I do in real life? Well, I'm currently a student, pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Political Science. Other than that, I'm a cashier at a local home improvement warehouse, and that's about it. My life basically follows along the lines of Uni, work, and eRepublik.

Why did you join the UK Reform? Was it the ideals or something else?

- I joined the United Kingdom Reform Party on a whim, actually. I had originally applied to join "The Right Party", as I did not know that parties weren't always as they seemed... My error was quickly redressed, and as I looked around, I found the UKRP. I'm a fan of small government, little government spending, and free markets/libertarianism, so the UKRP seemed my best bet of the major parties. I joined, got into the buddy program under the mentorship of the good Sara Droz, and have enjoyed every moment since. Well, nearly every moment.

Do you have any plans or goals you wish to achieve in the future?

- Well, eventually, I'd like to get involved in the military, but that can wait. The main things that I want to see the government accomplish is to make the Ministries budgetable and to keep government spending low and sustainable. To accomplish this, we're going to be putting a lot of effort into our Mentorship and Party Ambassador programs, and we really want to try and start getting people into Parliament and into the Private Sector that are skilled businessmen, economists, and leaders. The new Party apparatus is to be a practical one, with practical goals, and I look forward to seeing it happen. It's my goal to turn the UKRP into a sleek, well functioning political machine that churns out the best prepared individuals to help lead our country. I think if I could make that happen, I'd be quite pleased with my accomplishments and feel entitled to rest on my laurels.

What do you think caused the surge in activity and reforms in the UKRP just now?

- The surge in activity was largely caused by the drama surrounding the debacle that was our last Party President election. The controversy surrounding, and later disappearance thereof, Marcus Antonius Varias was well covered in the media, and as they say in politics -- there is no such thing as bad publicity. But really, I don't want the party to continue to be defined by the affair. We had a rough patch, we're through it, and our people are as fired up as ever and ready to get some work done.

What do you think makes the UK Reform so successful in terms of members and achievements?

- The UKRP enjoys the membership of some of the smartest and most capable hands in the eUK. From Funky44 and JerryGFL to Sara Droz and myself, and any of those in between. I think success just breeds success, really. People see the UKRP does a good job and wins, and they want to be a part of it, and I can't blame them.

Anything else you want to add?

- To summarize, it is my opinion that the United Kingdom Reform Party should be the voters number one choice every time. We have some plans in the works that I believe will lead the eUnited Kingdom into a new period of prosperity and I hope everyone will join with us in working towards a better tomorrow. Our next interview is with the fabled CertaCito, the man who officially holds the keys to the UKRP, and I think he has the experience and wisdom to give you far more insight than I can. Thanks!

This ends the first interview, you can expect the next one with certacito out shortly.
