An Analysis about the Change of Reward from Gold to CC
Luke Braferd
Good afternoon lads!
It's me, Luke.
with the recent change of reward from gold to cc.
and there is some words from plato that's really interesting to read.
"Medal changes
Starting Day 2,610 (12th of January), Freedom Fighter, Mercenary and True Patriot medals will award you 1,000 Currency (instead of the current value of 5 Gold).
Based on our studies, these medals didn’t reach their initial goal: to help the progress of the new players. More than this, they had a negative impact on the economic balance of the game, and with this change we aim to solve some of these issues."
plato, behind the change of reward.
do you believe that what plato said? by changing the reward from gold to CC, it will help the PROGRESS of the new players?
I will call it "bullshit"
"based on our studies"? wut? are you stupid?
new players need GOLD more than CC, why?
coz they need to upgrade
(though with 45% disc, it still costs hundred of gold)
and
with cc, you can buy weapons, food, raw materials, houses.
but with gold, you can make companies, upgrade TGs, buy contracts, energy bars. Gold is everything in this erep than CC.
If plato implements this, what will happen to players?
First, players are FORCED to buy gold if they want to be strong FASTER.
if they don't. they become poor.
the future of new players..
the condition of Monetary Market(MM), SS is taken at day 2576 04:16
second, gold will be more expensive everyday since the announcement.
I recommend all of you to BUY gold as long as you have cc.
third, since gold is needed to build or upgrade companies, it will be hard in the future to do that coz gold will become less and less than before
fourth, a lot of players will leave erep, leaving only Mastercard/Visa players and a few players who happened to be strong without buying gold and "I don't care about the changes and I will keep playing this game even though it's sh*t" players.
leaving...
fifth, economy will be worse than before, as more players will leave the game, the consumers will complain that it's become expensive to buy things from marketplaces, meanwhile the producers will complain about their profit.
and one more thing, I've seen some article stated that those 3 medals(FF,MM,TP) give too much gold in erep and causing problems in erep.
IF that really is a problem for erep, why NOT make it harder to get the more you have it?
For example, in TP medals. when you reach 2b dmg, then the difficult increases, you need to do another 200m dmg to get one.
in MM medals, after you get 20 medals, you need to do 50 kills for 50 different countries.
so that the old fags and tankers can't get easy gold by those medals.
By increasing the difficulty, it can solve the problems that caused by those medals
whatever sh*t happens to erep, just keep enjoy it as long as you feel a fun from playing this game.
until then,

Gold is only needed for training. Companies are complete waste of time.
My companies gives me the food and Q7 weapons that I need. Unless I go completely wacko and use more than 300 EB in a campaign, I do not need to buy anything from the market.
In my opinion, that makes my companies useful to me and not a waste of time 🙂
Same here for food & weap, since going q7 weap factory I've become self sufficient. And anyone can see where I place in tier 2 each week. Imagine farts is referring to the idea of using factories as gold earners in their own right, esp. if the player isn't willing to dump a ton up front for long term savings (not having to depo small amounts to buy weapons.
yes but, It costs hundred of gold(around 150 x 4= 600g) to upgrade all TGs to q4, and need contracts that costs 53g. :/
for a new player, it still takes a lot of time for them to get 600g without buying gold, I need 9 months to get that many.
also, you as a tanker need gold to buy EBs.
Well, I do admit, if I wouldn't have any companies or didn't have all training grounds on Q4, I wouldn't invest any gold in companies either 🙂
Once you get the TGs to Q4, the SS medals basically pay for the training contracts every month.
yeah I know, but you'd still lose around 5 gold every month.
but you can cover it up by getting HW medal.
better still do away with the rewards altogether - still give the medal but no financial gain.
As I recall you had to pay gold to stand in an election, now it's free.
I play this game for almost 2 year. So, I don't know what happened back then.
But it's still an unbeatable argument that changing the gold reward from gold to cc will not only suffer new players, but also suffer all players except the Mastercard/Visa players.

erep gold is just too expensive for me. ):
Yes I agree this is con by admin 1000 cc is under 5 gold, plus you can only change up 10 gold a day , what if it rises to 250 cc per gold, then it only 4 gold a medal , I see this as a way admin can recoup more money from people, as they say ever little helps!
Nice one, well done
This is just Plato being Plato - no surprises here. Once a twat always a twat.

plato better to begin returning the money invested in RV

Agreed about the new players actually being harmed by this.
I'd also like to know how they think this will better the balance of economy, as I personally fail to see the connection.
What was the goal? I will bet it wasn't to help the newbs. It was to convince them - and the rest of us - to break out the plastic. I guess not enough players did, so plato didn't reach his goal - $$$$$.
[removed]
Short term financial goals will be met by this, long term? Heck no.
Helping new players and old players? Nope. Def not.
The rewards for Hard worker, super soldier and levelling up still pay gold after the first few levels freedom fighter, mercenary and true patriot medals cost more in weapons, food and moving costs than the reward.
Perhaps removing the gold rewards for fighting in the early stages of the game will stop players over fighting and levelling up too quickly, before they are strong enough to compete in higher divisions.
nope.
HW=5g every month, it's not enough for players.
SS= if you train 30 str/day, it gives 20g/month, but if you train 90str/day with contract, you'd still need 7g to cover the costs.
lvl up= 1g. from lvl 0-34. you only get 34g. that won't be enough for players.
FF and TP may be the easy medal that players can get. so far I have 6 FF + 18 TP that gives me 120g. plato maybe thinks that changing those medals(TP,FF, and MM) reward from gold to cc may increase the amount of gold buyers. Jude Connors also stated that he got a lot of gold from those medals. 59FF + 10 MM that gave him 345 g in total. (http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/break-out-your-visa-cards-2475901/1/20)
changing the gold reward to cc reward just makes players to fight a lot more. why? coz most people will end up buying weapons, food, and houses with the money instead changing it on MM(also in the future, 1g maybe costs 250-300cc or more). not only that. the price of goods also increase as a result of people having CC more than gold. with that, it decreases the rate of people buying goods coz of inflation.
and based on your second statement. how come people always fights a lot? is it because they use the gold to buy EBs? it only applies for D3 and D4 tankers. and how come they can compete in higher divisions IF they can't get enough gold to upgrade their TGs coz it's hard to get gold?
this is the problem for new players who came to this game and most of them will leave erep after 1 week playing this game.
Most players already lose money fighting for medals after the first few levels the gold they receive doesn't cover the cost of moving tickets, weapons and food. If you're only fighting to make gold you would be better off just selling the items and buying gold.
TP medal - your next medal needs 100,000,000damage you currently do about 44k per attack (according to egov) that’s roughly 230 hits at 0.7 per hit thats about £1,600 or 7ish gold even without food you will lose money
MM - after fighting for our MPP you have to move country even if you only move one region at a time that £20 X 40 = £800
Q7 are currently about £7.00 if you average 1.5 hits per kill then
25 kills x 50 x 1.05 = £1,312
even without food your medal costs approximately 10 gold for a 5 gold reward.
After the first few levels the FF medal also costs more depending if you move to chase Rws and how often you end up on the losing side.
New players with less powerful weapons probably have even more problems although bazookas help get you through the first few Tps and levels quickly.
Prices are ridiculously low (when I started WRM was around 10p per unit and Q7 were as much as £20 during events) if they rise then players can be self sufficient earlier and even start making money from lower level factories and RM buildings. If there is less gold around people won't be able to build factories etc as quickly and lower level buildings may start becoming profitable again.
If players blow all their money on weapons and food instead of saving for TG upgrades simply because they are getting cash iso gold that's their problem you can't make rules to suit the idiots.
Only an idiot would upgrade a training ground when there isn't a 45% discount.
You can make some money training on the first two Tgs depending on the level, of course it takes time to progress people have been playing for years it would be unfair if a new player was gaining 91.8 strength a day after a few months.
your statements have some flaws tbh.
"if you're only fighting to make gold you would be better off just selling the items and buying gold."
that's for low str players, even some low str players admit that they got profit by fighting rather than selling their items... also, it increases consumption rate which can give profit to producers( some of them always complain about their profit tbh)
and if all people think same as you. it seriously gives a lot of bad effects for the markets
then about the medal:
TP : it needs 2200 hits not 230 hits, but what if I use booster and guerilla fights + NE bonus?
also, when I fight for TP, I also aim for BHs. so getting 5g bonus is not really that bad.
MM: I got a MM with only 11x movings that cost me around
300cc. if you were smart enough. it could be less than that. same as above.
when I fight for MM, I also aim for BHs, and it gives me a surplus of 5g.
FF : I admit that after getting some FF medals, it becomes difficult to get.
but, it depends on yourself. also same as above again.
when I fight in RWs, at the same I aim for BHs.
after all, it's about " if you fight smart, you'll get a profit"
in your case, you think that those medals won't give profit even losing money.
but for me(and some people) who fight smart, I get profit from these medals.
and I always state that 1g 😕= 200 cc in the future. it's still better to get 5g than 1000c. especially for new players so they can progress.
"it would be unfair if a new player was gaining 91.8 strength a day after a few months."
but that's what needed for new players and countries, for countries, having D1 and D2 players with good amount of str help them to get points in wars. for new players, they're still have some hopes to compete.
and at least it decreases the gap of str between new players and old fags.
Excellent article. The key to this is one thing and one thing only - the only people to benefit from this will be Visa players.
haha brilliant move of plato.
less medalgold but more currency in game
+
newbs need gold for traininggroundupgrades and training itself -> get gold from market if they are no goldbuyers (=buying with credit card from plato)
= goldprice rises.
maybe we get nice goldprices like in the past with the bot flooding the market with currency (not sure if medal-currency is enough imput for that because there is still goldbuyergold that floods into the game) but currency-companies will get cheaper. hopefully so cheap that i can transform my gold companies in more currencycompanies and produce more stuff.
and yes everything that uses gold will get more expensive (because of currencyinflation and golddeflation at the same time). full training every day will be a thing of the past if you make 70cc from work, do not get gold and training costs like 2000cc and more when getting gold over the market.
i think plato thought that will not be a big change and will not have a big efect on market. but longterm it is not only more currency into the game but also much less gold that comes into the game. both together will get prices of gold high in much shorter time than in platos dreams...
well as always a typical plato-"solution".
*into more currencycompanies
here is a superior analysis: http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/-plato-plato-the-alchemist-turns-gold-into-cash-2476045/1/20
"Plato is attempting to address one of the primary problems with this game: there's too much Gold floating around."
so that the amount of gold buyers will increase the moment he applied it..
if the problem is that too much gold floating around by those three medals.
then why don't make it difficult to get if the more you get it?
for example in TP medal, after reaching 2b dmg, you need to do 200m dmg to get a TP,.
and it's an unbeatable argument that new players can't progress and they will quit after some weeks when plato implements this except if old fags helping them with some money(and the problem is, old fags always think that new players are multis)..
*applies

You're making me study this change and write the impacts on the global market.
well, this article already sums up the impacts coz the change of reward.. 😉
but in case if I missed something, you can tell me about it
also, don't trust Gnilraps's article above (link: Dave Trenga's comment.)
and, whenever you have CC, just keep buying gold or you'll bite your teeth later.
I think this is a good change, the article that Dave Trenga posted is right in saying that there is too much gold floating around. Gold prices reached below 200cc in the past few months, one of the lowest it's been. This makes it easy for players to buy companies which means weapons and food are being overproduced and company owners do not make much of a profit, if any, from selling their company products. Of course it's good for the new players as they can easily get cheap products, but I think the easyness is another flaw; the game is way too easy. A game is not a good one without a challenge and it gets boring and may be one of the reasons why new players do not stick with it. When I first joined, the reason I stuck with the game was because I wanted to constantly work towards that weapons company so I could make and sell weapons for a profit, or because I wanted to upgrade my training grounds to be stronger than the other new players, and also I liked that sense of achievement of when I finally reached my goal. Now though, upgrading your training grounds or buying a company means nothing, because it's pretty easy to do.
gee.
"there is too much gold floating around."
I already stated above about the gold being too much on erep. :/
"This makes it easy for players to buy companies which means weapons and food are being overproduced and company owners do not make much of a profit, if any, from selling their company products"
it's also government fault to not teach those players. if they were educated enough. they will upgrade their TGs than companies and learned that "patience" is a key to win.
"the game is way too easy."
"Now though, upgrading your training grounds or buying a company means nothing, because it's pretty easy to do."
if you say it's easy. then try to get CH medals, Top fighters medals, and CP medals.
also upgrading TGs still means a lot. you can compete in gaining BHs and helping your countries/allies in wars
and yeah, it's easy. you need hundred of gold to upgrade all TGs to q4 and still need 53 g per month to buy a contract.
and, it's easy to build and upgrade a company to q7 that costs 700g
tell me when you have all of your TGs to q4 + a contract and a q7 company.
I'll be waiting for that.
Saying gold costs too much in an debate now is like selling a car for £10,000, lowering the price to £5,000 and then to suddenly start complaining it costs too much, when it's lower then it was originally.
"it's also government fault to not teach those players. if they were educated enough. they will upgrade their TGs than companies and learned that "patience" is a key to win."
So you basically just want to remove the economy module rather than fix it? Training grounds shouldn't be a players best source of income, training grounds are for training. Companies however should be a players main source of income, as their main purpose is to make and sell goods for profit.
"if you say it's easy. then try to get CH medals, Top fighters medals, and CP medals."
I'm pretty sure I didn't mention anything about those medals? And CP medals do seem pretty easy to get nowdays, have you seen the past few CP's we've had? Even BigAnt got elected a few months ago..
"also upgrading TGs still means a lot. you can compete in gaining BHs and helping your countries/allies in wars"
Not when everyone has upgraded the strength and either has the same strength as you or much, much more due to the stupid way divisions work.
"and yeah, it's easy. you need hundred of gold to upgrade all TGs to q4 and still need 53 g per month to buy a contract."
With the number of TG discounts and NHS it is pretty easy to upgrade your first TG's to Q4. After that, all you gotta do is press a button everyday and just make gold from you free TG to upgrade others. Once you have all upgrades, training contracts pretty much pay for themselves. What's so difficult about that?
"and, it's easy to build and upgrade a company to q7 that costs 700g"
Well currently there is no point as companies are not profitable.
"tell me when you have all of your TGs to q4 + a contract and a q7 company."
Like I said, companies aren't profitable so I won't be buying one. After a month, I am halfway...
to upgrading my training grounds.
(on training grounds bit)
*Not when everyone else has upgraded their training grounds and their strength is either the same as you or much, much more due to the stupid way divisions work.
it sucks when plato focuses on military module than economy modules...
"So you basically just want to remove the economy module rather than fix it? Training grounds shouldn't be a players best source of income, training grounds are for training. Companies however should be a players main source of income, as their main purpose is to make and sell goods for profit."
it's not like I want to remove the economy module.
it's just that economy module sucks so that focuses on military module give more profit then economy module.
and it's up to players, which module do they take for profit, economy? military? or both?
*Not when everyone else has upgraded their training grounds and their strength is either the same as you or much, much more due to the stupid way divisions work."
patience is the key. I don't like fight a lot like a lot like yourself..
it's useless for you to have all TG to q4 but you keep wanting to get a lot of xp. and when it comes to the future, people who patiently waiting to build their str up than xp, they will give more benefits to their countries and them(getting TP + BHs)
"Like I said, companies aren't profitable so I won't be buying one"
and you are contradicting to yourself about players should have companies to be their source of income but you don't like to build one
"With the number of TG discounts and NHS it is pretty easy to upgrade your first TG's to Q4"
and wait, NHS?
I forgot to mention that it still costs hundred of gold to upgrade all TGs to q4 + 53g contract. but by begging, selling, and fighting(TP/FF) it may be easy... I'm still waiting for you to have all TGs to q4 tbh.
"it's not like I want to remove the economy module.
it's just that economy module sucks so that focuses on military module give more profit then economy module.
and it's up to players, which module do they take for profit, economy? military? or both?"
Making gold harder to get makes it more difficult to buy companies and thus not everyone will be able to splash out on companies which leads to overproduction and either little or no profit. So this change should hopefully drive up the price of products as there will be less of them being produced, meaning companies will become more profitable. So this should hopefully give more profit than training in the future.
"patience is the key. I don't like fight a lot like a lot like yourself..
it's useless for you to have all TG to q4 but you keep wanting to get a lot of xp. and when it comes to the future, people who patiently waiting to build their str up than xp, they will give more benefits to their countries and them(getting TP + BHs)"
For this, I'll start with you calling me impatient and saying I do not benefit my country. In past month or so, I have gotten around 3-4 TP medals, done 150+ million damage am currently second in div 1 for both kills and influence this week, got the third most kills in div 1 last week and am average around 2mil a day for div 1. How is that not beneficial to my country? Well I pretty much agree with you, it's not. Winning a battle in division 1 and really 2, gain very little points towards the campaign; players are mainly needed in div 3 and 4 where winning battles is the most important. Yes players need to train and gain strength as much as possible, but they also need to fight to get to the higher divisions where damage is needed more.
Plus, just clicking a button each day for months just so you can win division 1 battles for very little points and gold is boring. Games are meant to be fun, and the only tiny bit of fun in this game is pressing that attack button.
"and you are contradicting to yourself about players should have companies to be their source of income but you don't like to build one"
No? Companies, right now, are not profitable. So if the change hadn't of happened, I wouldn't of purchased one. But now that these changes have been made, the profitability should be increased, meaning that in future, I may work towards one. But without these changes, I wouldn't of have.
"and wait, NHS?"
I should of included the MoF as well, but recently the NHS have given out grants for training grounds and I believe in the past they have done training ground loans.
"I forgot to mention that it still costs hundred of gold to upgrade all TGs to q4 + 53g contract."
Yes it costs a fair bit, but it is easy and simple to get the gold to do it.
And like I said before, the contract pays for itself.
"begging"
L2P n00b.
"selling"
Selling what? Company produced goods, which would not be profitable?
" fighting(TP/FF)"
You said players shouldn't fight...
"I'm still waiting for you to have all TGs to q4 tbh."
In just over a month, I have gone from q1 on all Training grounds to halfway upgrading them all. When I first played back in 2012, after about 3 months, I had only upgraded my free TG to Q3.
The problem was the invitation system.
All these young (suspect) players invited to erep by a established player. Earning all that medal gold. which their 'inviter' gets a share of. This was an easy way for nefarious folk to circumvent the daily gold cap that Plato remains ever hard for.
true that. :3
plato should consider about that too. and still, it gives me a chuckle every time I read "Based on our studies".
lol. they overlook that problem.
