Tomorrow I will be one of your candidates for country President and even though I think I am a good choice for President it is up to you to decide who you think is the best candidate for the position. The Presidential election is when you get the opportunity to decide the direction of your e-country and voting for your choice of President is one of the most important things you can do in the game.
In order for you to make an informed decision based on what each candidate actually stands for (as opposed to who their friends or enemies may be or who other people want you to vote for) I will give you a breakdown of my goals as President.
I ask you to decide for yourself who you think has your best interests at heart and would be the better choice for President.
If you do vote for me I undertake to do my utmost best for you and our country. I will always be directly available to each and every citizen either in-game, on the national forums, or on IRC. Your opinions, suggestions or questions are very important to me. I will also communicate regularly and often with the citizens of eSA so that you always know what is going on.
Shiloh DeGreat is my running mate and will be my Vice President should I win. He and other very capable citizens will be part of my team that will work hard to make eSA a better country for you, and you also have your part to play. Together we can do it!
The Economy
eSouth Africa and most countries in eRepublik are currently experiencing economic difficulties due to changes in the economic system. We also have further problems due to the recent PTO of our country. Steps need to be taken to drastically improve our economy so I plan to set up a Department of Economic Development managed by a Director of Economic Development under the guidance of the Minister of Finance. This department will be given the task of managing the economy of eSouth Africa and taking whatever steps are required to develop a fair and competitive market and build a productive economy that can compete sucessfully in the new world for the benefit of all eSouth African business owners, employees, and consumers.
The Military
The eSouth African Armed Forces (eSAAF) has the potential to be a major force in the new world if well funded, provisioned, and staffed. As eSouth Africa is under continuous threat of invasion and occupation the defence of our country is one of the most vital components of government. I intend to establish a Department of Defence (DoD) with Directors responsible for different aspects of our defence requirements, under the guidance of the Minister of Defence. This department will be given the task to consult with the eSAAF on ways to improve the structure and operations of our armed forces so as to build a superior world-class military force to be reckoned with. I would also like to discuss the possible establishment of an eSouth African Foreign Legion tasked with defending our country from political takeovers.
The Community and Social Security
The eSouth African community is the life blood of our country and it is the task of government to nurture and foster the growth of our community, both in quality and quantity. As a nation we are at our best when we are working together for the common good. I am committed to a society in which every citizen is able to actively and productively participate in the life of the community, and the whole community responds sensitively to individual needs. I am also committed to the strong role played by community organisations in both helping individuals in need and in building a sense of community, and to a community that respects both the rights and responsibilities of citizenship. With the assistance of a Minister of Social Security I plan to take steps to improve health services, recreation, education, and social development for the benefit and growth of all existing and new citizens of eSA.
National Security
Government has a fundamental obligation to safeguard our national security and I intend to take steps to vastly improve this aspect of government. Under the guidance of a Minister of National Security a Department of National Intelligence, a Secret Service, and a Department of Home Affairs would be responsible for the increased security and stability of our nation.
International Relations
I strongly believe that eSouth Africa's national interests are best protected and advanced by promoting peace and cooperation rather than confrontation and conflict, if at all possible. Our recent Training War agreement with eUruguay is a perfect example of this. With the assistance of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and a Department of International Relations I plan to encourage cross cultural and cross national engagement with our neighbours and the global community. I also intend to ensure that we have ambassadors in as many countries as possible and to vastly improve our relationship with foreign ambassadors to eSouth Africa.

What will happen to the economic council, and then what other purposes will there be for the DoF?

Is this not risky getting many low level players inchange of Defence. Also what are the many aspects?

Decent platform. But, new ministries, i'm not sure if they are what is needed. There is a lot of stress lately, it seems like more simplicity may be needed, but this is your take.
Also, c'mon man, late platform much? I hope people can read this before tomorrow, but many minds may already be made up, though some may be in disarray, souch as mine.

Gotta agree with Mark here, it looks like you're just renaming Ministries.
@Mark: The Economic Council is a Congressional body that advises Congress on economic matters such as tax rates. The Department of Economic Development would be responsible for overall policy aimed at developing and improving all aspects of our economy, in consultation with the Economic Council.
Directors of the Department of Defence could be responsible for things like funding, provisions, recruitment, intelligence, etc. The exact requirements would be formulated between the Minister of Defence and the eSAAF Chief of Staff, and low level players would not be in charge of Defence.
The Minister of National Security is a renaming of the Minister of Security as the responsibilities of this Minister would be slightly different. The Department of National Intelligence would operate internally and would be responsible for things like investigating potential PTO threats and clearing immigrants for the Department of Home Affairs, which would be responsible for citizenship approvals amongst other things. The Secret Service on the other hand would operate secretly in foreign countries in the interests of our internal security.
The "National" could be left out of the names but I think including it gives a clearer indication of the area of responsibility involved.
@Tenshibo: There are new Departments, not Ministries, so as to spread the work load thereby simplifying each persons responsibilities and hopefully reducing stress.
@Fhaemita: New Departments can serve the purpose stated above and can provide the opportunity for more people to become involved thereby improving their game experience. Hopefully a balance can be maintained between this goal and government becoming too big and bureaucratic.
renaming ministries is fine, these are not set in stone
I still don't get why you were renaming the MoS to The Minister of National Security.
A spy network has been tried by many Presidents and even by Military outfits. It has never worked and if it did, it is not something you advertise in you platform, because it becomes a little "non-secret".
MoFA has always served as an intelligence gathering entity. They do a really good job at this. They are the most qualified. The only way you could change this is to place agents under deep cover like Ronell did with eSA. You would have to get someone to live, work and play this game with another country for close on a year before it would reap any benefits.
