AIM Announcement, Post-Election Sum Up

Day 353, 05:46 Published in Indonesia Indonesia by ICE2008

Hi all!

If you are not already aware, in this months presidential elections the AIM was allowed to put forward a candidate. We were running quite well, much better than I had thought we would, up until the Admin pulled us out of the race.

This was perfectly allowable, as it turns out that presidential candidate must be level 14, and I, the AIM candidate, am level 13. However, there is something important we can take from the

elections. Despite not winning, nor even being able to complete the process, we managed to show that Australians are a serious political force in Indonesia. There were times during the presidential race that the AIM was coming first! We certainly managed to rock the boat, which was the overall intention. From looking at the numbers we had when we were running, it is noticeable that it was probably not only Australians and the AIM members voting for us, but probably also some number of Indonesian votes.

The AIM now knows that its cause is believed in by many people across the globe. I have received numerous messages from international players who supported our policies and who disapproved of opponents reactions (there was a fair bit of name calling between Indonesians and Australians).

It is pleasing to be able to lose the election and still say that the main goal of proving that the AIM is a serious party in Indonesian was successful. We showed that we have the numbers to, whilst not compete in congress elections yet, be able to through a strong presidential race.

Australia will be free soon, change is coming! (congratulations Obama by the way)
