Hi

I haven't written an article for a long time now, but it's time to announce my opinion about this Brazilian-Hungarian conflict.

When I first saw that Brazil signs an MPP with the USA, I got very angry. I called them betrayals of Phoenix. Since then, I realized a few things about their decision to leave our alliance and become "neutral".

In August I moved to SA, where the Hungarian PTO ruled the country since July. I went there to meet with the IRL South Africans and convince them, that what we are doing with their country is good for the economy, and since we are here the food got cheaper, their currency is getting better, and they are not in war. I wrote an article about this and I went to their chatroom (#esouth_africa on Rizon) First the natives were really hostile towards me, but I didn't give it up. I went to their chat every evening and talked with them about many things. Since then we have a quite good relationship.

While in SA I used to visit the Hungarian TOer chat as well (#esa on Mibbit). They were happy when I arrived, because they needed every last man back then. But soon we had an argument about "how should we act with the natives". I was always against calling South Africa "South Hungary" and I got angry when they put the "Székely" (Hungarians who live in Romania) Hymn into the citizen welcome message. The TOers replied that their previous president has tried to be nice with them, but they refused everything what they gave to them, and we don't need them anyway, because they are few and weak, and in the top of that, they are trolling too (there were also some racist claims what I better not repeat). I repeated my point of view every evening but most of the Hungarians didn't listen to me.

At this time, a serious conflict has started between the Hungarian TOers and Brazil when the Brazilians attacked and occupied Northern Cape, South Africa's capital region. There were talks coming on between the two sides and Phoenix. Diplomacy solved the problem in a week, the agreement was that Brazil captures Gauteng and pay rents for it (I think that we shouldn't acquire money for a Titanium region since we got 2 other of them). This worked for a while, but not forever.

Soon after I have traveled to Macedonia in order to take part in the ATO, but I kept in touch with the native South Africans. Many months later I saw that Gauteng has been lost in an RW.

The story continued a few weeks ago when the new raw materials got into the map. Brazil haven't received either saltpeter, or cattle on its original territories. This meant that they'll need a foreign country in order to get these missing resources. That country was South Africa.

Negotiations started. The Hungarians said that they give 3 regions to Brazil for 2000 gold/month, and Brazil pays the war and the battles. They asked a route to Chile in return. Brazil wanted the three regions for a much smaller rent, with no swapping to Chile. In order to pressurize Phoneix, they signed a peace with Spain and proposed an MPP with the USA. This was a very aggressive step, and forecasted their quit from Phoenix. For now both sides got very aggressive, with the Hungarians claiming that one of the chatlogs were forged by the Brazilians. This cut any further diplomacy. The negotiations broke down, and the armies have taken over. (Here you can read the official announcement of the South African Hungarians about the negotiations.)

During that, I tried to bring the RL South Africans to our side, and convince them that the Brazilian occupation is worse than the TO. But I had to promise them something, so in the meantime I had to convince the TOer team that we need the natives for the upcoming battle, so talk with them, and give them what they want, because then they will fight as hard as we do.

On the day of the Brazilian attack (which has knocked out the Brazilian-Hungarian MPP), it turned out that the natives are fighting for Brazil and the USA. I asked them why and they answered that the TOers don't want to give them 50% of their own congress. (I always favored a cooperation between two nations above PTO). I rushed to #esa on Mibbit, and asked them why they hadn't agreed with this. They replied that 50% will be the end of the PTO, and the natives would betray us anyway, so it better to stay enemies.

After that, South Africa with a Hungarian and a French MPP didn't stand a chance against Brazil with 10+ MPPs (the American among them) and the support of the natives. Since then they are conqering region after region in Africa, but I don't care about that anymore. It is better to end that TO.

Brazil says that only because they left Phoenix, they will fight for their "natural friends", Indonesi and Argentina. They also claim that the USA is not EDEN but neutral, so their MPP can't be a problem for any of us. The truth is that their military orders prefer their African campaign over the Bosnian front or any other Phoenix battles. I think that everyone should decide for himself/herself that Brazil is a traitor or not. Another article about this at here.

In summary, both sides committed many-many mistakes, which resulted in the quitting of one of the strongest Phoenix countries form the alliance. It's a pity, that we weren't better in diplomacy.

Here are some more articles for you: This is an article by a French guy, and
that is the Phonix article about the recent events.

Hail Phoenix!

P.S.: I really hope that Brazil will stay neutral as they have promised.
