A deadlock. That is what the mutual fear in Belgium has caused, a deadlock which leaves Belgium without democracy. The two opposing alliances which are both responsible for the creation of a bipolar eWorld are making every inch of a working multiparty system impossible.
Four out of seven parties have congress members. But just look at their logo’s and names. You see where I’m going? That’s a lot of black-yellow-red. All nationalist parties who claim to have solutions for the impasse eBelgium is in. They all grant themselves the name of ‘the’ Belgian party, or at least that’s what their name says.
The only thing that’s left of eBelgian democracy is the game’s voting system. But a democracy requires the possibility to choose between alternatives, ideas, opinions but most of all policies. The current party landscape is like a ticket booth which sells tickets for Lady Gaga, Britney Spears and Jessica Simpson. Whatever you choose, you’ll end up with pop music.
ePeople shouldn’t have to choose between parties which motives aren’t clear and whose policy is mainly aimed at foreign affairs and alliances. They should have the right to choose between parties who offer different approaches on how to tackle eBelgium’s problems. The tactical eBelgians, both placed by EDEN and Phoenix compromise a fully working multiparty democratic system. Two solutions are worth mentioning, as there are no losers or winners in it.
The first solution is assimilation. The immigrants solely placed in Belgium with a tactical purpose should integrate in Belgian politics, economics and social affairs. This should create a diverse political landscape with worthmentioning differences. The downside is the cleavage of mistrust it will create into eBelgian society. Cartels and coalitions can be formed to counter a possible take-over.
The second solution has been mentioned here. It’s a détente of Phoenix and EDEN relations in eBelgium in purpose of turning the heat down. It will create stability and safety in eBelgium. The downside is the possible breaking of the détente by either parties.
Confrontation and difference is what makes political representation meaningful. Normalization is the key. Democracy is the goal. Don’t let eBelgian democracy turn into a hollow box.

those that want to assimilate can, those who are only here to vote can withdraw without compromising the security of Belgium and the balance between the two alliances
Upon the party landscape: those who dig deeper will tell the real stuff out of the others.

It's more than about separating the real from the fake. It's about a broad spectrum of parties with different opinions. Libertarians, communists, traditionalists and for lol's sake even feminists and econologists. Having to chose between a neutral unionist party and another neutral unionist party is kinda boring... no?
You are absolutely right on that point, Reaussou, but you forget that most tactical voters don't and can't have a mind of their own, since they have to follow orders from their national or alliance superiors. Most of them also don't want to stick around in eBelgium for too long to be active in it's political life.
Neutrality is also not mentionned as often as it did two month ago, when the concept was still fresh and needed argumentation and persuasion. But it remains one of the campaign slogans becuase it realistically is the conditio sine qua non to stay independent. So most parties will have this as a party policy, and to find more detailed statements on other political issues you'll have to talk and listen to the individual representatives of that party.
eBelgium is still quite young, and our independence and democracy are still very fragile, although we have seen much improvement in the last weeks. Some day we'll hopefully have our own feminists and ecologists, but as in the history of most RL nations such tend to appear when a ceratin level of democracy and welfare has been achieved, and we're still just developping 😉
And also voted and subscribed - there should be more fresh opinions and sharp pens in our media. Fine article 😉

The neutrality is very hard, why? Because in this game, we have two alliances (eden/phoenix). Where is Belgium? In the middle.
But Eden doesn't see that the citizens of another alliance voted for Belgians. We have enough Belgians with regard to the foreigners, it is a fact.
You must know, i wasn't very involved in politic before to coming to belgium. I love democracy but it's a fact, very complicated in this game.
We tried to put together several parties to the government. It's important for having various ideas and to discuss these
@Elynea; feminism is also considered being an ideology. And that's what the article is about, a broad spectrum of ideologies expressed in various parties.
In case of a total leave by Phoenix and EDEN troops, eBelgium will wind up with a one-party-system where BfB will dominate, and that's not a good cause.

If the other alliance were voting for Belgians, perhaps we would have seen members of the Res Belgica elected as well. It seems that all the votes from Hungary, Russia, etc only went to one party.
That gives the impression that the BfB is either a puppet party that can be tossed when the need arises or that the BfB is in direct collusion with Phoenix. I'm not saying it is, just that is the impression one can get. If we had seen the election of people like NicknameFromRonny, Aldous Zamiatin, Wektras, and others, perhaps the suspicion would not be there.
But it comes down to this, the best way to ensure Belgian Independence is to reduce the number of "tactical Belgian voters" as laid out in BLT. Once both alliances eliminate these large blocs of citizens that are only Belgian to influence the vote, then the active eBelgians are truly free from the threat of PTO.
Indeed, feminism could be seen as an ideology, and could even be fun to watch in a game as eRepublik (given the right approach and the needed support, a feminist party could be just like those communist ones that do exist in eRep).
I don't think that after the foreign influence leave that eBelgium will have a monopartite political system - other parties with different political views will arrize quickly, existing parties will lose some of their members and voters to these new ones, and a new balane will be created. The engine behind this is as usual lust for power and simple boredom 😉
As to the strong support for BfB and the not that strong one for Res Belgica, the resons for that are several, and PHOENIX voters are just one of them. BfB have the benefit of having big names in their ranks (such as Olv007 and Manong Rizal, among others), who were very known to most Belgians (especially residing in eUNl back then), while most Res Belgica candidates were just newcomers to the political scene. And I must admit that the core members of BfB have been very organized in the past and were active campaigners (keeping up with Manong is impossible 😉 ). These facts would also explain why PHOENIX strategical voters supported this party in the past and keep supporting it, so I don't think there any secret agreements there anymore.

I don't think so, Blackshark. At least they're doing something and showing that they want to resolve the current situation - but the other side needs to be willing to meet them halfway as well...
