Join the new world

Shortly after joing Erepublik, I realised that owning a house was a very good thing to do. So, I scrimped and saved my meagre income, until I had enough to buy my first Quality 1 house.

It was not much to look at - a basic little box located in the then quiet suburbs of eBristol - but it was my pride and joy! Better still, I gained the extra health point each day as a result.

Imagine my shock and horror when less than a month later, my bijoux residence just vanished in a puff of smoke! What could have happened? Had my little castle fallen in to one of the dreaded Erepublik induced 'Black Holes'?

After a certain amount of running around in distress I discovered the cause of my 'un-housing'. Each month home owners are required to pay a regional housing tax. In most regions of eUK (as is the case in my home town of Bristol) this housing tax is set at GBP 0 - but beware, you still have to pay this tax!

The penalty for not paying the tax is that you end up having your house repossessed with no compensation! So, watch out for the housing tax notification - it appears around the top right corner of your 'My Profile' page - and make sure you click on it to pay our tax, even if it is ZERO and you wil keep your beloved dwelling!
