A True Mainer on the Libertarian Ticket
ghinculov
Below we have a message from our Senior Editor, ghinculov, who is running for Congress in Maine:
First let's get over with the credentials: I've always fought for Maine, the US and the well-being of their citizens. Just read some old issues of this newspaper. Although many of my suggestions were criticized, in the end they were implemented (an example: when I said that fighting on US soil should be a priority I was shut down rapidly, and yet, today...). I have always fought for lower taxes and the expansion of the infrastructure, which are a real problem today. Oh, and militarily: I'm a member of the Home Guard, I fight daily at my full potential and my weapon company, Maine Armory, is selling always at the lowest price on the market.
And now, the platform:
1. Expansion of the infrastructure. Although we seem to be winning today in the war of liberation against PEACE, we have a major problem: besides Florida, our infrastructure was wiped out. I don't think the rebiulding of the country can wait untill after the war because PEACE doesn't have this issue. After all, the lack of hospitals and the unwillingness of citizens to relocate at the will of Washington was one of the reasons our United States almost fell to PEACE.
2. Lower taxes. Tax relief will be the start of an economic boom. Unfortunately the US has the highest taxes, all other major countries have lower ones. Today this high taxes are used for sponsoring the military and I don't support an imediate lowering, but after all of the US will be liberated I'll see that no excuse can be used anymore. First of all the income tax must be lowered because it hampers the efforts of the population to gain a capital, to fight better, to gain higher wellness. (This argument can be expanded but I'm trying to be brief).
3. Fiscal responsability. The Goverment is gathering money from taxes and bonds. What are they doing with it? Well, the politicians again use the argument of war to keep the response shadowy. After the war every penny should be accounted for to the taxpayer. A weekly report should be put toghether and published. I looked around and found very easily a dubious donation to a UK citizen from our military. What will we find if we look deeper?
As you can see my platform is based on the pursuit of happiness by everyone. What is happiness in eRepublik? I think that higher experience and higher rating in general, so more money for you, my voter, do work at that. Second, my platform is about free will: every state having a proper infrastructure you'll be able to live where you want, not where the government wants you to.
So, vote for ghinculov on the Libertarian ticket. I'll keep fighting for you, Mainers!

A true warrior for freedom. If I were 'Murican, you'd have my vote without question.
Ghinculov for congress!!!
there shouldnt be a weekly accounting of money. high taxes allow us to kick ass globally. from a true mainer.
I respect your opinion but you are in the military and thus benefit from this high taxes. I'd like to kick ass globally myself, not you.
And think about this: 20% income tax, that means I'm left with 80% of my wage. From this 80% a further 8% is deducted when I buy something. This leaves only 73.2%. In other words, the Goverment gets 26.4% of the citizens' salaries.
The average wage in the US is 9.19$. From this the Goverment gets 2.43$. That means the average citizen looses a Q1 weapon every 3 days (roughly), or 1 wellness dayly (by substituting Q1 for Q2 food). Really, I think this is too much of a sacrifice for a strong military which, anyway, only through the stupidity of PEACE reverted the tide of this war.
I don't advocate the elimination of taxes but their lowering. And the responsability for their use.
i dont benefit from the taxes. i pay other people so they get weapons. what have you donated to the war effort recently? the us benefits by being able to start all of the battles it needs to, the infrastructure for q5 hospitals comes from taxes, and the coordinated tanking so we actually win battles. which of those do you propose to cut?
As I say in the article, nothing right now. In times of peace cut military spending and build some infrastructure.
then we're in agreement. things are essentially fine the way they are now.
Private citizens and groups would do a far better job of building and maintaining hospitals than the government 🙂
have you done any research at all on your platform regarding Infrastructure? Or are you just saying something that sounds good? Infrastructure in many states is both grossly expensive, and highly impractical
I have to be honest your whole platform smells of pandering, I highly doubt any of your "ideals" are based on any real research confirming them as good ideas.
Yes, my platform is based on the facts I could find. Of course, not everything is public (jasonalwaysready was asking me what I would give up, military or infarstructure and if I could find an approximation of our military complex's size I could respond with numbers).
Our infrastructure is almost zero right now. Ideally every state would have a Q5 hospital and some defence but I'm a realist. But hospitals in NY, California and Texas at least are a must have (for now).
And, TemujinBC, I agree with you, but if all of us pay taxes, why not (and excuse my idealism, Tyler) benefit from them? Again, IDEALLY, citizens should donate for infrastructure, but that should happen only in a perfect environment (in this game, 1% taxes which is the minimum).
I'm not an idealist, I'm a realist. And I know what out Goverment should look like and I will struggle to transform it (granted, not immediately), if elected.
If my citizenship is ever confirmed, I will vote for you.
