The Avtomat Klashnikova, or the AK-47 as most of us know it, has been one of the most influential weapons in the history of the world for decades. Regardless of the latest introductions of weapons into the battlefield, Introductions such as the Unmanned Drone or Biological weapons, the Klashinkov is yet to be called an obsolete weapon. Mikhail Klashinkov introduced this weapon to the Russian world in 1947 and it has changed the dynamics of war ever since.
Every now and then, We have someone exaggerate the american rival of the AK. However, In my personal opinion, the M-16 and its variants were never up to the par when it came to assault warfare. Fine, we all agree the M-16 is more accurate and ever so light. However the complicated design and the mechanics of the M-16 require the weapon to be cleaned thoroughly and frequently. The disassembling procedure requires you to read a manual of numerous pages and If I were in the midst of a situation where the enemy was approaching me, while I were too busy reading my manual and cleaning my rifle, primarily because the weapon becomes dysfunctional in any natural habitat for battle, I would be in a tough spot wouldn't I? "Excuse me bhai, please wait, let me clean my rifle I will then fight you".
Enough insult of the M-16, It is one of the second best assault rifles money can buy, this tribute however is for the AK and its variants. Over 40 countries have still commissioned the AK or its variants within their military apparatus and the AK is an all time favorite of most veterans. Whether you like the AK-47 or the AK-74 or the AMD 65 or any variant you may choose. The AK-47 will always be apart of us whether we like it or not.
This tribute is not just to glorify an assault rifle, but I would have loved to have an AK in eRepublik. Why would the designers consider replacing such a beautiful weapon of choice with a SMG? An uzi? Are you serious? These battles that are taking place would seem more interesting if realistic arsenal could be introduced to the game. You have your tanks and the fancy battle helicopter from mars and obviously the cross between a LPG and a sniper (I never could tell what weapon it is up to this day). I love the game, I'm not making fun of it. All I am suggesting is, perhaps such an important weapon deserves a little credit and should be introduced for eRepublik.

Great comparison!i always consider M16 is best riffle but now after reading ur article, i realize that AK47 is more productive......introducing RL arsenal in eRep. is good idea.....i would love to see the impact of introducing nuclear bomb and biological warfare in game......& a superb article,i like it very much

I would rather choose what are army is using the Heckler & Koch G3 It is quite long as I have experience holding it [Not firing it 🙂]
dingorider, the HK G3 is a very effective assault weapon. I personally like the .308 caliber, however, you are right about the length and weight of the weapon. The SSG were issued the AK and I enjoy the fact that it can be maneuvered with ease due to its moderate size. The .223 Krinkov is the smallest of the AK family, the effective range is an issue but it is a beautiful piece of machinery. One of my favorites.
The HK G3KA4 or the compact version manufactured by HK Germany would also be a good addition. The retractable butt-stock is made of composite, some like it some don't. I personally feel these composites are too light and being used to wooden or metal butt-stocks, the light composites always make me lose balance. 🙁
army is increasing useage of AK 47 however G3 still remains to be the main weapon!!

Besides the AK-47 is inaccurate which is what makes it a terrible choice especially in a hostage situation
Yes AK maybe cheap and provide good bang 4 ur buck but its inaccuracies, short range and heavy weight make it somewhat outdated. Especially in times like these where urban warfare is largely replacing wars on battlefield this rifle nor the M-16 is an effective close quarter combat weapon.
