A totally unbiased analysis of eUK party activity

Day 3,244, 03:47 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by VoodooMike71

Prompted by a comment from Sir Jimmy Savile on the ESO party feed, I decided to have a quick peak at activity levels across the eUK’s top parties.

What I found wasn’t good.

First, let’s have a look at each party’s feed and see how active it is, paying particular attention to how many messages are on the feed and how old the last one is...

I was shocked to see that three of the top five parties have feeds that are so inactive there are still messages on there from two months ago. When did that start happening? (Clue - at least two months ago it seems).

In ESO, we start getting twitchy when we break Mr Immanuel Kant’s 24 hour rule, and a six-day-old feed is terrible. But two months?!

So, given the surprising levels of inactivity (combined with my unnatural and slightly seedy love of spreadsheets) I decided to delve a bit deeper…

Top parties by rank

Top parties by how old their feed messages are

Top parties by the completely made-up Activity Index

Some of the stuff here is very revealing. Parties by rank is simple enough - UKRP are currently top, ahead of TUP. They seem to swap positions every now and then. ESO are way out of it in sixth.

But how active a party is (measured by how old its feed is) shows a completely different story. ESO are miles ahead of UKRP, with WRP a distant third. The other three parties are a very long way behind.

Perhaps most revealing of all is the totally made-up Activity Index, which multiples number of party members by age of feed in days, to give a single number. The lower that number, the more active a party’s members are. Although the results are similar to the simple activity table, there’s a huge drop-off between fourth and fifth positions. It also highlights how different the results are for the top three.

Here’s another way of looking at it. In the following chart the shorter the red bar, the more active the party. While the longer the blue bar, the more party members they have…

So what can we conclude from all this? Well, it’s pretty simple really:

1. If you want to be in a truly active party, join ESO!
2. If you want to be in a big party that isn’t completely dead, join UKRP

As if you didn’t know that the whole point of this article was to deliver that conclusion 😉

Carlton doesn't exist, but if he did he'd join ESO.
