A Space Cowboy for Congress

Day 790, 16:10 Published in USA USA by James Roosevelt

Browncoats Unite! A Space Cowboy is running for reelection! It has been an honor, Minnesota, to serve as your Senator this month. And I hope that you will let me represent your interests in Congress the month too.

The life of a Browncoat is one all too familiar. I was born in the summer with the hopes of one day growing up in one of our three fields. I made a lot of mistakes on the way! Finally I fell into my own with the United States Worker’s Party. I have served with them actively now for 3 months. Some of the things I have done are:
-USWP Deputy Communications Director
-USWP PAC regional director: South
-Campaigner for FROST/WOXAN and WOXAN/LIGTREB

Recently I was made Communications Director for my Party, a post I am very excited to have.
I ran for my first campaign in November, I lost that campaign but I felt good about the campaign I ran. I was then elected last month in Minnesota. While a U.S. Senator, I have been active on IRC, the forums, and In-Game. I have tried my best to represent the interests of my state in the General Assembly. I have also been able to work on several things that I think have been great starting points for a freshman Senator. Some of these projects have been:
-A bill on Foreign Relations and Conduct in that field, it was made to protect the Constitution and Code
-I acted as a whistle blower. A group of Q1 food firms tried to buy me and other Senators off with votes in our next reelection. I called them out in my last article found here:

However that was the 25th Congress and I am running to be in the 26th. That means new people, new term, and new projects. Even though I am running as an incumbent, I hope that you judge me not by my record, but my ideas. Not where I have gone, but where I want to go. I intend to express my opinions and work on projects in all the following fields.

Military and Defense:
-As an in game Captain, I have seen enough fighting to understand what must be done. We must keep our fortress states Florida, California, and Karnataka strong. We must remain to learn from our mistakes and fund a National Defense grid that will prevent any future assaults on our borders.

Foreign Policy:
-We are still at war, EDEN has “risen out of the ashes” and turned its ugly head as Phoenix. We must remember that no great wars were won by a single nation, and continue our relations with EDEN. We must finally remember that know group bent on world domination has ever won. It is almost as if there is a spirit of Liberty, giving us the strength to win. We must use this strength, unite, and win the day.

Economics:
-I recall James Carville. He was the first to say “It’s the Economy, stupid!” As a student of Economics, I believe that a strong economy is the basis for any success in the Military, in Foreign Policy, and in Domestic Tranquility. We must maintain a Tax System that enables Free Trade as much as possible. I feel that all countries have comparative advantages in certain businesses, even if they are not indicated by the game mechanics. I believe that encouraging Free Trade with our allies will lead to a market drive to more specialization and trade, which will increase the productivity and prosperity of all participating nations. I acknowledge that some believe that free trade will harm industry. Where I admire their sentiment, I respectfully disagree. If elected I hope to aid in breaking down trade barriers with other nations to encourage domestic and global prosperity.

Domestic Policy:
We need to have a proactive government that will aid new members and create them in to the future Generals, Capitalists, and Statesmen of tomorrow. We need to have a mentor and military recruiter assigned to each new member. I have talked about LPO’s, government corporations who hire low skill workers and using that as a network for citizen retention. There is another idea I want to pitch as well. I have been investigating creating an earned income tax credit for new players. I don’t want to raise the minimum wage as it will lead to more inflation, and ultimately do the reverse of the intended result. However finding some way to help new players earn more money might be a good idea. That is what my earned income tax credit would do, using some of our budget to donate money to new players in their first few days in erepublik. This is just in the conceptual stage though, not quite sure this is possible or not. Just a thought, so where’s my penny? The other thing I will still work for is having Senators more active as Mentors as it will connect them with the people and will remind them who their policies affect the most.

In Conclusion, I would like to thank you for reading my platform. I know it is long, but I feel that the fate of our Nation deserves more than just the ten word answers some politicians give. I would also encourage you to vote this January the 25th, as I believe that in these times we must make sure that our fate is in the hands of the many, not the few. Hopefully I will be able to serve this great state in Congress and together we can create a “more perfect union.”
