Day 666, 14:26 Published in Spain Spain by Mikilar

After seeing how Spain beat Poland by 90-68 in the qualificatory game for the quarterfinals of the Eurobasket '09, I start to remember how my start in this game was...

It was 27th August 2009. In that moment, my time was shared between studying for my September review at University and having fun between my games and my hobbies as a forum game-Mod and an amateur writer, when a college friend sent me a message telling me about this game called eRepublik, in which Spain was having a very bad time as we had just been invaded by a whole lot of soldiers. Naturally, as a patriot, I told myself, "hey, let's join this game, it looks great!"

Naturally, once I saw that the northern half of eSpain had been invaded by eFrance and that Andalusia and the Canary Islands were eBrazilian, I asked myself "what the hell has been going on in here?" I was born in Andalusia, and suddenly I discovered I was a Brazilian citizen. Frankly, it didn't feel good at all.

Then, my periple on eRepublik started. At the start, I had no idea about how to do all the things I could do (which, at level 1, were too few: buy food, eat and work). I had a look around, to see if I could understand how it worked, and then I found a PM from dani puig, giving me the welcome and some advice about what should I do. Uploading an avatar, searching for a job, work, buy food... enough to reach level 2.

Then, a somewhat boring routine started. Every day was the same: wake up, work, train, see what was going on, buy food when needed... and then I discovered the newspapers. The first one I read was written by an Andalusian like I was, and he curiously called himself (in a great originality strike) andaluz, who ranted against the Brazilian invader, an attitude I agreed with, and I hoped that eSpain would free Andalusia soon.

It was a pity to discover that Andalusia's liberation wasn't in the immediate plans of eSpain. However, I was patient, and I saw excited how, one by one, the eSpanish regions that had been occupied by eFrance were liberated thanks to the Resistance, and in the end I decided to leave Andalusia back and travel to Aquitaine so that I could help in the Spanish Liberation, thanks to the Spanish Government, which provided me with a ticket (of course, this happened when I reached level 5).

After just arriving into Aquitaine, I looked for a job, but it wasn't of the resource-gathering branch (in which I had worked while in Andalusia), and was forced to work in the production branch. Just at that moment, I joined the Resistance, and collaborated in the last battles of the Spanish-French War, with the liberation of Balearic Islands, Galicia, Asturias, Madrid and Valencia. I travelled then to Asturias via neutral Ireland, where I finally managed to acquire the eSpanish nationality. While this went on, I kept finding new newspapers, and I also found the BOEs, with which I was kept informed of the going-ons of the country and what had to be done.

As I arrived to Asturias, I found other job (this time, fortunately, in an iron-extracting company), and now I am walking up slowly in the scale as my abilities increase. And, well, I'm not very high right now, but I have to say that, considering that I am in position 3467 out of more than 11000 eSpaniards, it's not going badly (although perhaps half of them are about to die, so I'm not sure).

And now I am in a political party, one adjusted to my opinions and wants, and will probably stand for a Congress of Deputies' position, which I hope will go forward soon.

As I write these lines, I contemplate on what tomorrow will bring us. Serbia's victory over Lithuania forces Spain to play against Tony Parker's France tomorrow at 9 PM Spanish time (gives our guys some rest, fortunately). I hope that Spain plays as greatly as she has been playing in these two last matches (the others were a bit forgettable) and that we finally win an Eurobasket's gold (and it is time, too, because we have 6 silver medals so far!

Greetings, and I hope that you vote for this article and that you subscribe for this newspaper.

P.😨 Even though it might sound like a lie, I find Ana de Armas (a Cuban actress, about 20 years old, who plays the character of Carolina in the Spanish series "El Internado") more attractive than Pilar Rubio (sexiest woman in the universe, according to some real-life newspapers and magazines, and not only from Spain!). Must be her blue eyes and her soft voice and accent.

P.D.2: This article is actually a translation of the first article I wrote from Spanish into English. It's core is the same, although the mentions to the basketball tournament have been changed to reflect the passing in time.
